  • Plenty of activities, play areas, pool, crazy golf, arcade and bar
  • Within easy reach of the Forest of Bowland, Pennines and Lake District
You might fall over when you clap an eye on Beacon Fell View, a family-friendly park in 30 acres of landscaped parkland with rather spectacular views over the Ribble Valley. Slap bang in the middle of Lancashire, the park is conveniently placed for day trips to Blackpool but within easy reach of the Forest of Bowland, the Pennines, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales; golf, fishing and walks are all available close by too. Firmly family-friendly, Beacon Fell View has many little touches to jazz up your break: purchase a pass at the poolside to access the indoor heated pool and paddling pool. During the high season, there is entertainment every night, as well as children's activities from 10am to 1pm every day. (In the low season, the children's activities run on weekends from 12pm to 2pm instead.) Adults can use their kids-free time to watch Sky Sports or down a drink in the adults-only lounge bar. (A family bar is available on site too.) Amenities include hot showers, a covered dishwashing area and a launderette, and kids can additionally live large at the indoor and outdoor play areas, crazy golf and arcade with amusements and a pool table. Pitchwise, all is level, grassy and within five minutes’ walk of reception; guests have access to water points and can park their car by their pitch. For supplies, nearby Longridge has a well-stocked farmers’ market, a couple of supermarkets, two decent pubs serving good food and – quids in again for the kids – an outdoor adventure centre with everything from water orbs to fencing.

Powered gravel caravan site (XL)

Liked: The area and the facilities.

Disliked: How even though it wasn't busy the bar area had a few dirty tables when we sat down and remained like that for some time. Bingo was cash only .....such a shame as not many people have cash on them these days.

Camping pod (pet friendly)

Liked: The glamping pod was lovely. The entertainment was brilliant too for both adults and kids if all ages. Everything was absolutely spotlessly clean on the site.

Disliked: The food was very disappointing. Also the wait time for it. As we was basic glamping we needed to use the clubhouse for food. But we ended up driving out to the local pubs, cafe and takeaways to eat.

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: The access road was very narrow to enter the pitch. The Kurb was extremely high abutting the pitch making it difficult to park up. Left a day early as unhappy with the site. Pitches were very close to each other. Reception was the far end of the building upon entrance to the site.

Liked: Club house ok

Disliked: Avoid the touring side like the plague to many things to list curbs are about 8 inches high going onto pitch a very very dangerous slop at back of caravan so unless your caravan is only 7 ft long don’t bother etc etc

Liked: Club area was nice

Disliked: Asked for XL pitch for motorhome and awning wasn’t enough space for awning
When til reception she gave me another 3 pitches to chose from but these pitches already had someone on them and still not big enough
Ended up in seasonal area which has very uneven pitches
There is only grey water waste disposal if you have tanks to take to it no driver over for motorhome

Powered gravel caravan site (XL)

Liked: The view over the reservoirs was pretty, that is the only thing going for this site. For tourers though you cannot see the view, only for the statics.

Disliked: They dumped us on a pitch laughably called Extra Large ... Only 4m wide, but 10m long never get an awning up. Looks like it had just been produced, the edging paving slabs were that high, no way you could get a caravan over them without a motormover. The access road was that narrow if there had been anyone on the pitches either side we would have really struggled to get on the pitch at all. Charged us £45 for one night plus £3 for the dog, very poor value for money.

Powered gravel caravan site (large)

Liked: Shop, indoor play area

Disliked: What can I say, we stayed here for 2 nights in one of the touring pitches and never again.
The pitches are on a hill and not even level. It's all on gravel and no grass area for awnings and you are placed very close to your neighbours, so not much privacy. Area needs looking at, especially for children
There is no view at all, the view is Large trees or your neighbour.
Very tight space so not a lot of room and only one way in and one way out.

Communal showers/ toilet blocks - we used the showers here and they are actually quite warm, only negative is there isn't much room, so I had to take a shower and get changed in one of the toilets.
It was kept clean which is good but you need to fill up the soap dispensers as there was no soap at all.

Swimming pool - you have to pay for this facility which doesn't state that when booking or on the website.
Showers were cold and wasn't told this when entering the area to pay. Felt like they just wanted to take my money and find out for ourselves. This needs to be told when entering the swimming pool, especially if you have young children

Shop - the shop is small and has a few bits in, but only got milk. The staff were lovely and friendly.

Entertainment - we didn't use this in the evening, but we had a look around in the day. There's a nice little play area for the kids which is a nice touch and an arcade and pool table

Static caravans - the area looks lovely but we didn't stay in one

Overall - we will not be returning as a tourer and I will not recommend, but if we stayed in a static we might have a different experience
Felt like the tourer side was an after thought

Powered gravel caravan site (XL)

Liked: The club house was very new and modern and spotlessly clean.

Disliked: The touring pitches - felt like we were on a hard shoulder. Completely impractical for caravans, the road is far too narrow to manoeuvre and the kerbstones were extremely high. It was almost impossible to mount the van onto the pitch.
There is a steep embankment at the rear of the pitch which made positioning the caravan dangerous and unsafe.
It was also unsafe for the young children playing.

Pitches were small and cramped, felt as though you were on top of one another.

The toilets and showers were clean however the was no space whatsoever to store your clothes while you were in the shower or get changed once out. Not even a shelf or a bench.

The site is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues, it’s set on a steep hill and all the steps are very high. The pavements near the toilets are not level and are dangerous.

There was broken glass in the children’s football pitch which made it unsafe to play in.

Also there is no grey waste run off for motorhomes.

Local attractions

Beacon Hill Country Park and the Forest of Bowland are mere minutes away by car and both have miles of walking routes across a range of landscapes including woodland, hills and farmland. Climb to the top of Beacon Hill to see landmarks in all directions including Belvoir Castle, Lincoln Cathedral and the hills of the Peak District. Said to be the inspiration for Tolkien’s Middle Earth (which might make you want to furry foot it there immediately), the Ribble Valley has the 70-mile path the Ribble Way, shopping in towns such as Clitheroe or munching one’s way around the Ribble Valley Food Trail. The River Ribble is a big hook for anglers landing chub, barbel, trout and salmon. City day trips are in all directions too: the kids’ eyes will light up with a trip to Blackpool… and for shopping, the Trafford Centre and Liverpool One of Manchester and Liverpool respectively should empty your wallet nicely…
