General

  • Peaceful and spacious wildlife haven in the swish Ashton Hall Estate
  • Lancaster city and the Forest of Bowland both within six miles
  • An 11-hole seaview golf course, woodland walks and fishing in the Lune

Rock up here for a restful retreat among the comely grounds of Ashton Hall Caravan Park... Within Ashton Hall’s extensive estate are an 11-hole golf course with spectacular seaward vista, as well as a garden centre and café, all bordered by ancient woodlands and the River Lune, and direct access to the Lancashire Coastal Way and the Lune Estuary Footpath.

Your holiday days will surely fill up quick with all there is to do around the locale too – if you manage to tear yourself away from the site, that is – as the Forest of Bowland, the Lune Estuary and Lancaster city are all within six miles. On site, there's loads of room to wander around the grounds or in the adjoining forest for woodland walking routes, nature trails and cycle paths, many of which will take you from the site directly to the banks of the River Lune.

On top of all this, the site takes pride in its sparklingly clean unisex toilet and shower facilities, newly tagged onto the park in 2017 in a modern stone-built sanitary block with underfloor heating. The building includes an accessible bathroom/ family facility; a vanity area with washbasins, big mirrors and a hairdryer; a laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers, and a covered washing-up area – like the site itself, the amenities block is safely secure and accessed via a secure key code.

A local pub and restaurant lies within a mile of the estate, and Lancaster is three miles away.

Please note

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

A very good site, well located with excellent facilities. 04/01/2019

Very quiet site with excellent facilities,(WC's, showers, washing up and laundry (including dog wash with temp controlled handset!), chemical disposal etc.), all in a central convenient location. The site is well situated close to the coast and Lancaster city centre, it is a great base for striking out on day trips to nearby towns, seaside locations or the lower end of the lake district.

Locally there is good food available at the Stork Pub/Restaurant or at Glasson docks. I suspect that takeaway food is also available for delivery, but these are not publicised. That being said, it is a relatively new site and these things take time to become known and advertised - maybe a few local taxi firms and restaurants could be encouraged to leave business cards and menu's for display/convenience (?)

There is also a golf centre adjacent to the site, serving food and drinks and a garden centre at which we witnessed food supplies, (Cheese), being delivered, but which we did not visit - maybe a plan for a quiet afternoon stroll next time we go....

The site owner is very approachable and friendly and keeps everything clean tidy and well stocked. Pitches are relatively level and ours was fully serviced at a reasonable price.

    Disliked:

The motorhome pitches are half stoned and half grass, which is great save for the fact hat local ground conditions make the grass very boggy. Having spoken to the owner, I am aware that this is a problem which he has spent much time and money trying to resolve and continues to do so. Bearing in mind that we visited in winter, I would expect that the problem is much less of an issue in summer, but in truth as we don't have an awning it is not a massive problem for us. We would like to visit again either at Easter or summer to see whether this problem improves, but of itself it would not prevent us from visiting again anyhow.

    Modern toilet block

    Disliked:

Toilet block cleaned once in 12 days of our stay. Rubbish took away once as well. Every pitch was flooded to the point you needed wellies to walk on the grass. Asked for my money back but refused point blank. This flooding can be avoided by better drainage. No office no help, will not return.
