General

  • Peaceful and spacious wildlife haven in the swish Ashton Hall Estate
  • Lancaster city and the Forest of Bowland both within six miles
  • An 11-hole seaview golf course, woodland walks and fishing in the Lune

Rock up here for a restful retreat among the comely grounds of Ashton Hall Caravan Park... Within Ashton Hall’s extensive estate are an 11-hole golf course with spectacular seaward vista, as well as a garden centre and café, all bordered by ancient woodlands and the River Lune, and direct access to the Lancashire Coastal Way and the Lune Estuary Footpath.

Your holiday days will surely fill up quick with all there is to do around the locale too – if you manage to tear yourself away from the site, that is – as the Forest of Bowland, the Lune Estuary and Lancaster city are all within six miles. On site, there's loads of room to wander around the grounds or in the adjoining forest for woodland walking routes, nature trails and cycle paths, many of which will take you from the site directly to the banks of the River Lune.

On top of all this, the site takes pride in its sparklingly clean unisex toilet and shower facilities, newly tagged onto the park in 2017 in a modern stone-built sanitary block with underfloor heating. The building includes an accessible bathroom/ family facility; a vanity area with washbasins, big mirrors and a hairdryer; a laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers, and a covered washing-up area – like the site itself, the amenities block is safely secure and accessed via a secure key code.

A local pub and restaurant lies within a mile of the estate, and Lancaster is three miles away.

Please note

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

After the list below as been addressed, the site has the potential of being a great site!

    Disliked:

    Feedback for the owners;
    1. The approach road through the woods to the caravan park needs attention the potholes need filling in and there is no passing point if you meet another car, also low level light marking the road would help at night to avoid the ditches on each side.

    2. Directions to the caravan park from the M6 on the website would be a good idea as sat-nav takes you down a single track country road which needs to be avoided.

    3. More signs marking the way to the caravan park through the estate need to be installed, we ended up in a car park on the right hand side of a golf ball statue.

    4. Our pitch was fully water logged for the whole of our 2 night stay so we had to wade through the water in wellies to get to our caravan.

    5. Due to the pitch flooding our Mains power cable was floating in the water which I’m pretty sure is a Health & Safety issue.

    6. All the fully serviced pitches need to be dug out with new under pitch drainage installed to allow water to drain away into the field.

    7. After a couple of visits to the water tap the grass next to our pitch was a mud bath.

    8. The taps and drains are shared between pitches which mean the standard hose and waste pipes we bring will not reach.

    9. Due to the shared tap/waste some people seem a little confused which side their grass is on which makes it awkward when their dogs foul on the grass which is in-front of our caravan door.

    10. The chemical disposal point room has no light switch and the door closes behind you. If you want privacy you have to take your torch or hold the door open with your leg to keep the door open to see what your doing.

    11. Regular dog bins need to be installed as we stepped in a lot of doggie poo.

    12. Pre-allocation of pitch number needs to be sent prior to arrival, the take your pick approach doesn’t work if a campervan has gone out for the day & you take over their pitch as it looks free.
