Peaceful and sheltered countryside setting

General

  • Peaceful and spacious wildlife haven in the swish Ashton Hall Estate
  • Lancaster city and the Forest of Bowland both within six miles
  • An 11-hole seaview golf course, woodland walks and fishing in the Lune

Rock up here for a restful retreat among the comely grounds of Ashton Hall Caravan Park... Within Ashton Hall’s extensive estate are an 11-hole golf course with spectacular seaward vista, as well as a garden centre and café, all bordered by ancient woodlands and the River Lune, and direct access to the Lancashire Coastal Way and the Lune Estuary Footpath.

Your holiday days will surely fill up quickly with all there is to do around the locale too – if you manage to tear yourself away from the site, that is – as the Forest of Bowland, the Lune Estuary and Lancaster city are all within six miles. On site, there's loads of room to wander around the grounds or in the adjoining forest for woodland walking routes, nature trails and cycle paths, many of which will take you from the site directly to the banks of the River Lune.

On top of all this, the site takes pride in its sparklingly clean unisex toilet and shower facilities, newly tagged onto the park in 2017 in a modern stone-built bathroom block with underfloor heating. The building includes an accessible bathroom/ family facility, a vanity area with washbasins, big mirrors and a hairdryer, a laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers, and a covered washing-up area – like the site itself, the amenities block is safely secure and accessed via a secure key code.

A local pub and restaurant lies within a mile of the estate, and Lancaster is three miles away.

Please note

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Group bookings of 2 or more units (e.g. tent, touring caravan, motorhome or accommodation hire) travelling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Pitches were quite generous in size and fully serviced. Shower facilities were excellent. Clean and modern. Simple gate code system. Excellent loscation . The area is stunning. Not far from Glasson Dock and only 10 minutes out of Lancaster.

    Disliked:

The access road is quite narrow and the signage is not very clear. We ended up, on the foirst attempt in front of the Hall. The main access road is in need of repair.

Facilities block was well planned, secure, clean and tidy. Hardstanding, very long pitches essential as the surrounding land was very wet. Water near every pitch. Lune Estuary path was easily accessible and we had a lovely 4 mile cycle into Lancaster.

Access road was very pot holed.

The Shower block is lovely and clean and well fitted out. They have taken all the relevant measures to prevent the spread of COVID. The pitches are a good size and access is via a gate, to which you get the access code via text and e mail. Lovely quiet little site with some decent walking routes close by. The Cafe in Glasson Dock is lovely as is the Dalton Arms pub.
