General

  • Peaceful and spacious wildlife haven in the swish Ashton Hall Estate
  • Lancaster city and the Forest of Bowland both within six miles
  • An 11-hole seaview golf course, woodland walks and fishing in the Lune

Rock up here for a restful retreat among the comely grounds of Ashton Hall Caravan Park... Within Ashton Hall’s extensive estate are an 11-hole golf course with spectacular seaward vista, as well as a garden centre and café, all bordered by ancient woodlands and the River Lune, and direct access to the Lancashire Coastal Way and the Lune Estuary Footpath.

Your holiday days will surely fill up quick with all there is to do around the locale too – if you manage to tear yourself away from the site, that is – as the Forest of Bowland, the Lune Estuary and Lancaster city are all within six miles. On site, there's loads of room to wander around the grounds or in the adjoining forest for woodland walking routes, nature trails and cycle paths, many of which will take you from the site directly to the banks of the River Lune.

On top of all this, the site takes pride in its sparklingly clean unisex toilet and shower facilities, newly tagged onto the park in 2017 in a modern stone-built sanitary block with underfloor heating. The building includes an accessible bathroom/ family facility; a vanity area with washbasins, big mirrors and a hairdryer; a laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers, and a covered washing-up area – like the site itself, the amenities block is safely secure and accessed via a secure key code.

A local pub and restaurant lies within a mile of the estate, and Lancaster is three miles away.

Please note

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Your dog must be tattooed and microchipped.

Friendly owner and large pitches and level 12/07/2018

  • Liked:

Has very large pitches an very quiet and peaceful. Has security gate which makes you feel safe. Very good sun trap if you are looking for a suntan. Has washer and dryer for free use so it was great not going home with lots of washing. The owner Roger very friendly and helpful.

    Disliked:

Lack of play area for children. Maybe could put some swings an slide in for the kids. The toilets could of been cleaned regularly but I did text Roger an it was done then an there. With so many people using the toilet over the weekends. Very little phone signal. If you are taking a television you will need a outside aerial to get a signal. Need rock pegs as ground is very rocky. And you will need repellent for the mosquitoes and biting flies.

Reviewer's country: United Kingdom Roger J. Confirmed

Shower blocks were very good but a couple of times they were grubby. That was due mainly to the clientel rather than the owners.

    Disliked:

Though only a couple of hundred metres from the River Lune and the cycle track/walkway there was no way of getting to it. If they could construct some pathway I think it would enhance the site greatly. The site field was also on 2 levels. There was a fence between the 2 levels stopping children from getting between the levels. I would like to have seen the fence removed and the lower field mowed. The lower field could be used for many further pitches which could greatly enhance the site. Also opening up the field for a better childrens play area.

    Peace and quiet
Excellent toilet and shower block - modern and clean facilities
Information provided timely including contact numbers for queries
    Welcoming 'host'
Well located for trips to Morecambe and surrounding areas

    Disliked:

Difficult to find - signage very poor overall
Site needs to strengthen its information on appropriate routes and, more importantly, challenging and difficult routes to avoid when towing a caravan
First come first served approach to pitches - has good points and bad points particularly when other guests wanted specific pitches
    Some noticeboard information is dated
Wifi and TV reception - little problematical but problems overcome

Nice new toilet/shower block. Nice walk to Stork pub. 03/07/2018

Nice new toilet/shower block. Nice walk to Stork pub.

    Disliked:

There were some very anti-social campers on the site on the Saturday night - drunk, swearing and very noisy for hours. Eventually another camper confronted them at about 1.30am saying they were disrespectful and that they should have consideration for families and children staying on the campsite - to which they responded aggressively. Eventually they packed up and drove off (drink driving I presume). This is not the fault of the campsite and instead, the fault of the horrible people involved. But for this reason, it did taint our stay, hence four stars instead of five.
