Ashton Hall Caravan Park: Peaceful and sheltered countryside setting

General

  • Peaceful and spacious wildlife haven in the swish Ashton Hall Estate
  • Lancaster city and the Forest of Bowland both within six miles
  • An 11-hole seaview golf course, woodland walks and fishing in the Lune

Rock up here for a restful retreat among the comely grounds of Ashton Hall Caravan Park... Within Ashton Hall’s extensive estate are an 11-hole golf course with spectacular seaward vista, as well as a garden centre and café, all bordered by ancient woodlands and the River Lune, and direct access to the Lancashire Coastal Way and the Lune Estuary Footpath.

Your holiday days will surely fill up quickly with all there is to do around the locale too – if you manage to tear yourself away from the site, that is – as the Forest of Bowland, the Lune Estuary and Lancaster city are all within six miles. On site, there's loads of room to wander around the grounds or in the adjoining forest for woodland walking routes, nature trails and cycle paths, many of which will take you from the site directly to the banks of the River Lune.

On top of all this, the site takes pride in its sparklingly clean unisex toilet and shower facilities, newly tagged onto the park in 2017 in a modern stone-built bathroom block with underfloor heating. The building includes an accessible bathroom/ family facility, a vanity area with washbasins, big mirrors and a hairdryer, a laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers, and a covered washing-up area – like the site itself, the amenities block is safely secure and accessed via a secure key code.

A local pub and restaurant lies within a mile of the estate, and Lancaster is three miles away.

Please note

Group bookings of 2 or more units (e.g. tent, caravan, RV or accommodation hire) traveling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Tents are not accepted at this park.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Guests under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.

The park caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

A short walk through a field and then a track along the river to The Stork Inn. Good food, dog friendly. The toilet and shower facility was very large, lovely & warm and sparkling clean. There was also a large Garden Centre and Golf range near the site.

    Disliked:

We booked in the morning of arrival and had not received an email with the number to the barrier. Luckily the problem was soon sorted after I phoned. The only other thing was I forgot the key code to the showers that was in my phone and not with me. However all the security, although may be over the top, I felt safe.

    I loved this place.
I was given all the information I needed to access the site and phone numbers if I needed anything else.
I was the only person there for my first 2 days. It was so quiet and absolute piece. I selfishly felt it was my site. I was left to my own devices. Brilliant.
I could hear the Owls hooting through the night and had regular visits from the Heron during the day.
The shower and toilet blocks were warm and clean and I didn’t have to que😂
    Level pitches.
The coast walks were very good.
    No traffic noise.
There was a lovely pub The Stalk not far away that did good food. If you are walking the main road to it is busy and in some places no verge to walk on.
Highly recommend this place for a chill break.

    Disliked:

The only comment I will make is that there was no information about footpaths and everywhere I walked from the site said private land. I did have to walk through a field from site to get on the trail, I didn’t know if the was allowed but it was the only way I could see to get to it.
All it needed was something on the notice board in the toilet block.

Good location. Only 10 mins from centre of Lancaster. Must follow directions given by site. Good sized pitch which drained well considering the amount of rain we had had recently. Easy access to Lune and local villages for walking. Dog friendly. Excellent chemical toilet disposal closet. Clean facilities.

    Disliked:

Tap connector broken so we couldn’t use the water input feature from the serviced pitch, but still had direct access to fresh water & waste system was good.

Great position. Washrooms good and warm. Stayed on fully services pitches. Good for walking the dog - access to the old railway line to walk to Glasson Dock or the local pub. The pitches are quite narrow and when we went it had been very wet so you need to position your van so that you don't tread in muck. Will definitely return. Good digital TV signal
