What customers say
This is a well-located site with friendly staff, offering lovely walks and clean facilities. Visitors praise the park's woodland setting and proximity to Lowther Castle and the river. However, some find the tent pitches uneven and cramped, and note the distance to toilet blocks. While many appreciate the clean facilities, others describe them as dated and in need of maintenance, with occasional issues reported with hot water. The on-site pub and bakery are popular.

The location is beautiful.…
Electric grass and gravel touring pitch
Liked The location is beautiful.
Disliked This site's facilities are very dated. The toilet block had not been cleaned the entire time we were there and was dirty and smelly.
Fortunately we have our own toilet and shower in our motorhome as it was unpleasant using them.
The rubbish areas were overflowing. There was a general air of neglect around the camping site.
We also felt the pitches were too small. We felt very close to our neighbours. It was a bank Holiday weekend so it was very busy.
At £50 per night we expected much more, unfortunately we will not be returning, there are much nicer sites around that are cheaper.

Expensive, horrible bathrooms and cramped
Electric grass and gravel touring pitch
Liked Location - easy to get to and also a good base for exploring around the lake district
Disliked Toilets - We were there from Friday - Sunday and I did not see them get cleaned once. They smelt foul! The showers work on a push button that last for four seconds. The hair dryers didn't work except for one out of three. For £50 a night these bathrooms were disgusting. The bins were overflowing as well.
The whole site felt very crowed and I'm not sure if spacing is 6 metres apart. If you like space and well maintained facilities avoid this site.

Disliked No WiFi at pub but they were in process of getting it sorted

Great site/ location, toilet is a trek from campsite though!
Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Location was fantastic for days out to Ullswater and Aira Force.
Kids loved the parks on the site.
Pub was decent prices for foot and drink, nice outdoor seating area too.
Easy check in (we did ask for pitches next to friends but this was communicated by pitch up so make sure to ring up beforehand!)
Disliked Only reason for marking down is because there are no toilets in the camping field. With small children and an older adult who needed to go in the night it was a fair walk! Toilets were not cleaned regularly enough either.

Wouldn't stay again because of the toilet block situation.
Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked The park itself was nice and the tent pitches were good
Disliked The toilet block is too far away! Doesn't make sense having a toilet block by static caravans which have bathrooms and nothing next to the tent pitches and glamping pods. Not a nice walk at 3am with children. This is also where the washing up facilities are and there is no hot water to them so have to get hot water from inside the toilet block.

Lovely walks from the site
Electric grass and gravel touring pitch
Liked This site is in a lovely area with plenty of walks from the site through beautiful woods and riverside. Fully stocked shop with bar on site which we did not use as only stayed one night. Would definitely return to this site.
Disliked This site needs some TLC as some parts of the site was a little untidy, however, it has certainly more positive than negative points.
