  • Secluded South Yorkshire site within 30 mins' drive of Doncaster
  • Less than a five-minute walk from the River Idle and a waterside pub
  • Scenic site with golf driving range available to guests
Lazing comes naturally at 25-acre Misterton Holiday Park – it's an easy five-minute stroll away from the River Idle…And on top of that, this peaceful site in South Yorkshire has pretty views out over the countryside and a spacious grassy area on which to settle (perhaps with a picnic?) and admire them. Not planning to picnic all day? A driving range is on hand for golfers, and a waterside pub is a few minutes' walk away for drinks after your efforts. To stock up on groceries and other bits and bobs for your hol, Misterton village, a 20-minute stroll away, has a small supermarket and a butcher's shop (as well as takeaways if you’d rather not cook). This site’s also a 10-minute drive from the historic market town of Epworth, the former home of famed Methodist John Wesley, and less than five minutes from Shepherds Place Farm for days out with the animals. Gainsborough – a place of pottery-making coffee shops, playhouses, a heritage centre and a model village – is 20 minutes away and the large town of Doncaster is a half-hour drive for potters around the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum and the 18th-century Cusworth Hall.

What customers say

This is a peaceful, friendly, and well-maintained site with spacious pitches and lovely countryside walks. Wardens Annie and Mark are frequently praised for their welcoming and helpful nature. A key highlight is the proximity to a highly-rated pub, just a short walk away. While currently lacking toilet and shower facilities, the site is undergoing development, with improvements noted by returning visitors. Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Everything, owner was friendly and always happy to give advice, we was able to set up everything we wanted even allowed to prop our hammocks up on the trees obviously with care. Clean site and was lucky to have some good neighbours. We was lucky to be able to use our electric scooters over the field paths which were drivable, loads of friendly dog walkers too around as we had our dog with us. You come across people kayaking, boating and even on their motorbikes there’s just so much around for people who are adventurous like us.

Disliked We had neighbours that were arguing all night at daft o clock due to drinking all day which kept us up at the night but this is no fault of the site at all as when we arrived they asked to be respectful of your neighbours so it’s already pre warned. No toilets is the only downfall of this plan as it was horrible when you was desperate to go! But you sign up for what you get, if the place did have toilets it would be a very busy site as it’s perfect for walks and the local pub is literally 2 minute walk away! No showers wasn’t really a problem for us as we only stayed for 24 hours.

Electric hardstanding pitch

Liked Annie the warden is friendly, 2 min walk from pub serving great food!

Disliked Other people on site playing music n shouting until after 2:30am. Their feral kids were still out at midnight. Nobody is in control of what is happening on the site. We’ve been several times before but won’t be going again, White House farm is closer to town & managed much better.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked I absolutely loved it here! The location is peaceful but close by to a lovely pub and shop. The lady Annie is as lovely as all the reviews say. She met me on arrival and I received a very warm welcome, instantly putting me at ease and feeling welcome.
I loved the simplicity no showers or toilets but I have everything on board for that. There’s electricity, water and Elsen point, perfect for everything I needed.
The ground is flat so no difficulty getting settled. Very peaceful surrounding and accessible paths for walks. Perfect spot to rest and relax.
I will be going again!

Disliked Nothing.

Local attractions

If you’ve come to the countryside to catch glimpses of animal life, start with an outing to Tia Rescue Greyhound & Shire Horse Sanctuary (15 minutes’ drive), where you can meet the rescued creatures and feed farm animals, plus treat your own holidaying hound to something from the café’s special dog menu (while having tea and cake yourself, of course). Follow up with a potter around Potteric Carr Nature Reserve (25 minutes), to wander through the wetlands, or set off in search of somewhat larger and more exotic beasts (including polar bears, lions and a colony of giant otters) at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park (25 minutes). For active days out, paintballing and go-karting are within a 25-minute drive; if that all sounds a little hectic for your tastes, perhaps aim for the world’s largest collection of preserved trolley buses at the aptly named Trolley Bus Museum in Sandtoft (20 minutes) or drive to Lincoln (40 minutes) to wander around the medieval cathedral and handsome Norman castle.
