Plenty of space to relax
Bowland views on the large field
New hard standing pitches, with view
Spacious and green site

  • Peaceful family-run site in the Yorkshire Dales National Park
  • Within half an hour of the Three Peaks, Malham Cove and Gisburn Forest
  • Fully licensed bar, shop and a popular pizza oven
Got a bike? Get on it and pedal over to Dalesbridge, a cycle-friendly site pretty much at the spot where the Yorkshire Dales meets the Forest of Bowland. Spacious and family-run, it is within half an hour's drive of all three Yorkshire Three Peaks for hikes up Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent. First things first, though, head to the on-site shop to collect some local information and a map of the local area; many walking and cycling routes begin directly from the site. Half an hour’s drive away is the Gisburn Forest, where mountain bikers of all ages, fitness and nerve can pedal a route to suit. The Dales trails and Bowland bike paths aren't the only things to look forward to, as Dalesbridge is a peaceful family site with spectacular scenery in all directions. There’s ample room, a dog-walking area, staff who are happy to help, and most importantly for mountain roamers returning with a thirst, a fully licensed bar (open at certain times). There is also a pizza oven and an on-site shop, where you can stop off for coffee, rolls and pastries at the weekend. Based in Austwick, the site is a 10-minute drive from the historic local market town Settle which has shops and supermarkets. The Settle-Carlisle railway is also a short drive away.

What customers say

This campsite receives widespread praise for its stunning location, friendly and helpful staff, and well-maintained facilities. Visitors highlight the spacious pitches, clean amenities (especially showers and toilets), and the on-site bar and popular wood-fired pizza oven. It's considered a great base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales and for activities like the 3 Peaks challenge. While generally positive, some minor issues were noted, including occasional noise, cleanliness concerns in busy periods, and limited shop opening times.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Location was great, close to nearby villages and brilliant walks.
There was a member of staff that appeared to do patrols and helped manage behaviour of some groups who became loud or antisocial.
Toilets were combined with showers and although it was a busy park, I was never waiting for a cubicle.

Disliked Booking page and needing to be specific about the pitch size but this did not matter at all once we were there.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Very spacious pitches, shower/toilet facilities excellent, liked that each toilet has their own individual shower. Quick check-in and friendly. No food in the bar on Sunday though, so went to pub in Austwick (Game Cock Inn) but doesn’t serve food after 4pm on Sundays which was disappointing as had walked there. However, great chippy a few miles away in Settle was recommended by a local (across from Asda car park) just as you enter Settle.

Disliked Wasn’t clear on website that only food served on Tuesday and Saturdays. We arrived on Sunday.

Local attractions

Starting 10 minutes away, the walk to Ingleton Falls is gentle but rewarding, and even though you’re heading deep down instead of up, the caverns and wild rock formations of Whitescar and Ingleborough caves make for unmissable wanders. For walks with wildlife, make the half-hour trip to Malham Cove, where a pair of nesting peregrine falcons can be spotted in the summer months, alongside resident populations of jackdaws and housemartins. You can climb the massive amphitheatre cliffs of the cove, or follow trails up and around taking in the glacial Malham Tarn and Janet’s Foss waterfall. To see some wildlife at closer quarters, the Settle Falconry Centre (five minutes' drive) has daily displays of flying and feeding and if you feel you’d like to soar through the skies, the Ribble Viaduct section of the Settle-Carlisle Railway makes a fair imitation. If all this outdoor, high altitude stuff has made you peckish, head over to the Wensleydale Creamery (40 minutes) to learn how the famed crumbly cheese is made… and then sample some, but of course.
