Spacious and green site

General

  • Spacious site between the Yorkshire Dales and Forest of Bowland
  • Within half an hour of the Three Peaks, Malham Cove and Gisburn Forest
  • Lockable bike store and bike wash; fully-licensed bar

Got a bike? Get on it and pedal over to Dalesbridge, a cycle-friendly site between the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland.

Here on this roomy and tree-filled site a lockable bike store awaits for your valued two-wheeled vehicles, as well as a cycle wash area so you can hose the mud off after long days up hill and down dale. The site team is steeped in local knowledge too when it comes to Dales trails and Bowland bike paths and this peaceful setting is all about half an hour’s drive from the Gisburn Forest, where mountain bikers of all ages, fitness and nerve can pedal a route to suit.

Whether you’ve been making white-knuckle rides down the slopes, trying to bag the Three Peaks in 12 hours or settling down for the scenery on the Settle-Carlisle railway, you’ll have a quiet and welcoming base to come back to at Dalesbridge. There’s ample room, staff who are happy to help, and most importantly for mountain roamers returning with a thirst, a fully licensed bar (open at certain times).

If you’ve returned hungry as well, you’re welcome to barbecue bangers and everything else on site, and shops and supermarkets are 10 minutes’ drive away in Settle.

Nice site and friendly staff. Cabin of 4 abit too small11/03/2020

Site was really good. Showers was good and pub on site was really nice great prices too and staff was very welcoming.

    Disliked:

Nowhere to put clothes in cabin..there was a VERY small rail but wasn't any hangers but nothing enough room for a family of 4 clothing. Need some shelving in bathroom because nowhere to put wash stuff. Cobwebs under bunk beds with some spiders and chewing gum stuck underneath bunk beds.
Didn't like main shared door to next doors cabin.. luckily knowone was staying in it at the time we was there.
Could do with an extra shelf near cutlery for your food and snacks.
Steps on bunk beds was ridiculous to get up and down as TOO close to wall.
Wouldn't stay in a cabin of 4 again with my family just was too small...would maybe book the cabin of 6 because of the space.

Very cosy little pub on site with a lovely log burner to keep you toasty on the cold winter nights. The oven baked pizzas are just amazing (order before you arrive) and the staff & owners are lovely. All the facilities are clean and well kept, we can't wait to return in the summer! The shower block has heated floors which were a god send as it was a little cold and wet. The owners are working hard to continuously upgrade the facilities on site, which is great. We woke up to open fields every morning which was such a beautiful view. There is a pub just 15 minutes walk from the site called The Game Cock, the food is excellent! (Make sure you book) there is also a little shop in the village just before the pub. COVID 19 precautions put in
place are great, the toilet and shower blocks are constantly being cleaned to a very high standard!
This is definitely a little hidden gem and somewhere I would recommend to visit! Thank you for having us Dalesbridge, we will see you again in the summer!

Very well equiped cabin with comfortable bunk beds.
Cabin had everything we needed fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle and plenty of hot water.
Tea towel, scourer and cleaning spray and squirty hand wash provided which was super.
Had a florescent light blow whilst we were there and it was replaced the same day.
Weather was shocking but we were dry and toasty in the cabin and there were plenty of things to do .
Recommend a good waterproof coat and shoes to explore here - beautiful area but very wild and windy.
Would definately reccommend as a base to anyone.

Delicious pizzas sat by a warm and toasty log burning stove was just what we needed after a long drive in the pouring rain! The bar made all the difference when camping in the Autumn as it gets dark so quickly. Friendly and helpful staff who gave us a map to a gorgeous walk around the local area. Clean toilets. Hot showers. Good location.

    Disliked:

It was pretty close to a main road and you can hear the noise but it's not too loud. The site got very muddy after the deluge. Perhaps more gravel or hardstanding would have helped as it was tricky to get our van out.

We were looking forward to pizza night but realised on the day we needed to order the previous day. All local restaurants were fully booked so we came home on the last night of our stay as the weather was too bad to cook out. (None of which was really the sites fault). Wouldn’t stop us from revisiting and making sure to ore order the pizza next time.

Local attractions

The Three Peaks of Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent are all reachable within half an hour's drive of the site, so it's your choice whether you hoof it up them in a single day, or take your time, savouring views and devouring hard-earned picnics on top.

Starting 10 minutes away, the walk to Ingleton Falls is gentle but no less rewarding, and even though you’re heading deep down instead of up, the caverns and wild rock formations of Whitescar and Ingleborough caves make for unmissable wanders.

For walks with wildlife, make the half-hour trip to Malham Cove, where a pair of nesting peregrine falcons can be spotted in the summer months, alongside resident populations of jackdaws and housemartins. You can climb the massive amphitheatre cliffs of the cove, or follow trails up and around taking in the glacial Malham Tarn and Janet’s Foss waterfall.

To see some wildlife at closer quarters, the Settle Falconry Centre (five minutes' drive) has daily displays of flying and feeding and if you feel you’d like to soar through the skies, the Ribble Viaduct section of the Settle-Carlisle Railway makes a fair imitation.

If all this outdoor, high altitude stuff has made you peckish, head over to the Wensleydale Creamery (40 minutes) to learn how the famed crumbly cheese is made… and then sample some, but of course.

Must see

  • Lancaster Castle (29.4 kilometers)
