For a quiet adults-only North Yorkshire stay far removed from the hurly burly of everyday life, Millfields Caravan and Camping is a tiny site tucked away in Brompton on Swale, a historic village mentioned in the Domesday Book. Peaceful it certainly is, yet there’s masses to do and see hereabouts. The lively market town of Richmond is 10 minutes’ drive away, with its photogenic Georgian architecture, museums, a castle and lots of entertainment options from cosy inns to chic restaurants. It’s also gateway to adventures in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and any keen racing fans among you have the choice of nine major racecourses: York is an hour’s drive, Wetherby 40 minutes, and Catterick a doddle to get to, being a mere five minutes away. And back on site, the manicured pitches look out over lush countryside (great for walking any dogs you've brought along), with simple facilities including showers and washing-up areas. If you choose to conjure up alfresco feasts on the barbecue, pick up essentials in the handy local shop, or you can always head to the village pub for a pint and a pie (both 10 minutes’ walk).

Liked Nice small and tidy site,some old facilities that were clean and adequate and brand new facilities which are immaculate.10 minute walk to a very decent pub with a shop over the road.Good base for Richmond in a car.

Disliked Grey waste drain could be better as too close to fence to empty motorhome

Liked Stayed here last year and the new toilets and washrooms were a pleasant surprise. Great showers that were very clean.

Both visits have been so peaceful during our stay.. my wife and I love this quaint well maintained campsite and we expect to return soon.

Liked Small, well laid out site. The toilet and shower block were immaculately clean. The location felt remote, yet you were just a short walk/drive from anything you need, including 2 great caravan dealers with a large selection of accessories. The onsite bulls were friendly and inquisitive. Pitches were well signed and spaced, and allowing a flexible late check-in meant that we could travel there after work on a Friday and have time to setup without imposing on other guests.

Disliked The grass was quite long compared to other sites we have stayed at.

The site map indicated there were toilets and showers at the end of the field, but after waling to them, there was a sign saying they were closed and to use the new building at the other end.

Liked All pitches were Level. Facilities,toilets, showers absolutely spot on. Owners of site where friendly and helpful. A few minutes drive into the very beautiful and interesting Richmond . Will be definitely returning.

Liked We had an excellent stay at Millfields! They accommodated us last minute, were considerate as to which pitch we were allocated after a special accommodation request (this was easier as we booked for a Sunday night, which is why we chose this day) and the site is very neatly kept. The site is very peaceful, the toilet block is spotlessly clean and everything we needed was right there. We will definitely stay again before the season ends. Thank you!

Liked Site clean and tidy, loved the cows. Clear instructions on entry how to find your pitch. We had hard standing pitch which was s good size that had its own water and electric. Didn’t use the toilet block so can’t comment on its cleanliness but if it is kept the same as the site it will be clean.
Short walk to the pub and a shop that appears to sell everything.

Liked Very Quiet site which was one of the reasons for my overnight stay

Disliked lack of lighting around the site/pitch (12A)

Toilet/Shower block was clean, but old & rain leaked through the ceiling near the washbasins

No access to wifi, would have been an advantage
