Do you like to be beside the seaside? Heathland Beach Holiday Park might have just made it to the top of your wish list, then. This holiday park is on the outskirts of Kessingland (five minutes’ drive or a 25-minute walk), a coastal village with a sand and shingle expanse dotted with marram grass tufts. Unleash the kids on this Suffolk beach, and who knows – they might come back to you bearing gifts of a fossil nature. But before you head out for a day on the sand, check out the facilities at this tree-shaded site, starting with not one, not two, but three outdoor swimming pools, including one with a twisty waterslide that ought to keep the kids busy while you relax on a poolside sun lounger, sipping a cold brew from the bar. Children can also make new friends in the enclosed adventure playground, a huge sandpit with wooden structures for climbing and balancing. There’s also an all-weather tennis court (you can hire the necessary equipment on site) and, for a more meditative experience, a well-stocked fishing lake (please note you’ll need a licence). Spacious pitches all come with electric and water hook-up. In addition to a well-maintained toilet and shower block, there’s a communal barbecue area; you can source food supplies in Kessingland, which also has a handful of fish and chip shops and takeaway restaurants (and a skate park for the kids).

Liked clean toilets and shower , site was nice and tidy, and site is making improvements

Disliked somebody was on our pitch ,just miss read numbers , but we were put on another pitch it was okay

Liked Would of put 10 but the toilets/showers let it down needs updating and the bush button showers were a nightmare

Overall we would definitely come back pitch fantastic 22 so private bar, amenities, pool etc were so great especially for a family with children they cater for everyone.

Thank you it was a lovely 3 days

Liked Intended to take our granddaughters for the swimming pool, play area and the closeness to the beach but unfortunately our Motorhome broke down the week before on the way back from Cornwall. Two weeks on it’s still in the garage.

Disliked They wouldn’t change our booking despite having availability.

Disliked Overhead barrier shuts at 5pm so if you have a motorhome you cannot get back into the site without ringing after hours service if you stay out late.

Liked *I liked that there was 3 swimming pools
*Couple of kids play areas
*entertainment on the Saturday evening with good food
* the toilets and shower blocks were clean and well stocked and tidy
* staff were very friendly and helpful
* the pitch was a good size and had good privacy

Disliked The only thing that needed improvement was the disabled shower needed blinds up at the window ,
And the actual shower heads on the showers needed descaling so that they run better and maybe if they could of stayed on a little longer then 5 seconds

Liked Exceptionally clean shower and toilet facilities. Never had a problem having a shower, very large pitches with plenty of room, some hedged off but all fenced with plenty of trees for shade as well as sun.

Cheetahs, giraffes, rhinos and flamingos are among the residents at Africa Alive (five minutes’ drive). Experiences at this conservation zoo range from ‘keeper for the day’-type affairs (where kids help to feed and clean the animals) to close encounters with lemurs and meerkats, and feeding sessions with the giraffes. Birdwatchers make a beeline for Benacre National Nature Reserve (10 minutes), a breeding site for dozens of bird species, including marsh harriers, woodlarks and ducks. Carlton & Oulton Marshes (15 minutes) is another top nesting site, home to several types of warblers, plus lots of dragonflies. Known for its wide sandy beach, Great Yarmouth (half an hour) also has the historic Britannia Pier, with old-fashioned rides (think dodgems and carousels) and more modern ones, like bungee trampolines.
