General

  • Small, friendly family-run and low-impact site
  • Wildlife haven
  • Many walking and cycling trails close by

Our Garden is a small, welcoming, family-run and peaceful low-impact campsite in Sustead, four miles from the sea and close to West Runton beach.

The tents have everything that you need for a relaxing holiday: comfortable beds with feather duvets and pillows, all your cutlery and crockery, a two-hob cooker, heater and lighting along with flooring and rugs. Outside you will have tables and chairs to sit and enjoy the open fire in the evening. The only items you will need to bring are towels and toiletries.

The site looks out onto open fields and has a rustic hot shower and shabby chic loo.

There is a pond on site with a variety of wildlife including frogs, toads, moorhens and sometimes some ducks. You will often see hares bouncing through the fields and if you go for a walk you will likely see deer.

There are numerous walking and cycling routes on our doorstep and many attractions in our immediate vicinity for both adults and children.

Please note

The site is surrounded by wheat fields and harvest is imminent (a spectacular sight). If this happens while you're here the owners will provide you with ear plugs.

We loved everything about staying at 'Our Garden'. I was slightly concerned as we were traveling with a 3month old baby who was breast and bottle feed but the owners were really kind and helpful offering to wash and steam my bottles for me. In the end I was able to manage with the washing facilities there. The tents are beautifully laid out - very Catholic Kidding and the beds were very comfy. We were also nice and warm despite the typical British summer rain. The kitchen tent really has everything although I would advise you bring a lighter as the matches can get damp. My children loved the shower and sawdust toilets and they really don't smell which is amazing. The campsite I'd very quiet and peaceful. You can chat to your two neighbours or just do your own thing. Lastly, the big trampoline was a great bonus, event my baby had a gentle bounce! We would definitely return again.

Our 4 year old loved it and made friends with another couples children and of course Dotty the dog who we were privileged to take for a walk. We had two lovely nights and spent our whole day just relaxing on site. Will definitely return next year hopefully for longer.

They say you only turn 40 once and for that I am truly thankful! However, a joy to behold was my wife's little secret trip. To a secluded little cottage where grass grows in the middle of the road and wood pigeons call directions from the dense hedgerow.

Here I discovered something I had forgotten, a dreamy little place where I could sup Prosecco with new friends and wax lyrical of times spent under canvas in history past.

A giant of a tipi cranes out of the wood line, defying it's own height with statuesque measurements. It Dwarfs those Soulpad bell tents that strategically litter the field it secretly dominates.

Within each bell reside the families who are there not to worship in the wondrous tipi, but to fill it with woodsmoke, chatter and hilarity as they see out the the fluctuations of a barometer's whim. Time is spent cooking and enacting the fading social aspects of past history in a way we forget too easily. Only for those now addled with a "tipple too many" to make bed for the night in their single skinned home, in sumptuous and traditional surroundings that sing Kat Kidson printed duvets and olde worlde furniture that blends the decorations so well and screams glamping at the top of its upcycled voice.

With a night time moth for company (a mirror of the daytime butterflies that flutter through the gardens in all their beauty from Red Admirals, to Painted Ladies, Peacocks to Meadow Browns...) I make my way to the finest compost toilet you may find, lit with delicate solar lighting and candle light and it is here we continue to find comfort in alien surroundings... and too next door in the shower room where you lord over the campground whilst washing last night's smoke from your hair.

This could continue to be a detailed review that purveys the merits of Amy & Mark's little adventure but I would ask you to go one better and visit yourself ... for the magic, the attention to detail and that hospitality that borders on exactly what is needed and never too much.... and for that also... i am thankful and in awe. What a day (or two) what a night (or two) and what and when can I do it again?

We booked 'Our Garden' last minute, not really knowing what to expect.
We were so wonderfully surprised by our stay.
Amy and Mark welcomed us and we immediately felt comfortable and at ease in the beautiful surroundings, and by such thoughtful and intuitive hosts.
Our 2 children relaxed and enjoyed making new friends (Amy and Mark's children).
The bell tents are beautifully decorated with lovely touches of homely, snuggly comforts that immediately made us feel relaxed.
Amy brought the children hot water bottles at bedtime, lit the camping area with tea lights and twinkly led lights making the evenings magical.
The teepee was a treat, and the children enjoyed building the fire and cooking as a family.
The shower and toilet facilities were
Wonderfully rustic, clean and well looked after.
We were treated to a cream tea on our second day and enjoyed chats with the lovely Amy and her Family.
We would definitely recommend Our Garden to friends and family for a family friendly, luxury, camping experience. And will certainly be booking again.

We had a fabulous time at Our Garden. It was just the family adventure i was looking for! Its a tiny, quirky, simple shabby chic site. Owned by a lovely welcoming and happy family that really invites you in. My daughter asked if we could come again only an hour after are arrival!
I loved we didnt need to bring to much, really only toiletries, towels, clothes and food. We cooked a full english and a bbq on the fire pit and stoves in the communal kitchen teepee. The tents and beds we're lovely and comfy. The shower was wonderfully warm and clean. The toilet was hot pink and amazed the children! They ran and played carefree in the garden. Collected eggs and pond dipped. Made lovely friends with the familys children and pets and enjoyed their bubbles! We we're treated to a tasty afternoon tea and scones in our tent.

We spent the day at a near by beach and found there was so many places we could of visited with more time. We will just have to come back.

Thank you very much Our Garden x

We loved the site, small and beautifully laid out and decorated. The beds were very comfortable and we were plenty warm enough with just the duvets provided. The communal tipi with fire bowl in is fantastic with plenty of seating for a full site but still intimate enough for the 4 of us to feel cosy. I was sceptical when I read we just needed to bring towels, toiletries and clothes but there really was everything else there to use.

5 year olds best bit "the tent and my bed"

3 year olds best bit "the toilet!" (The toilet is a compost toilet which you have to put a scoop of sawdust down, not flush, it's beautiful decorated and doesn't smell bad at all, the 3 year old needed to go a lot!)
