  • Family-friendly site two miles from Mundesley beach, with dogs welcome
  • A 15-minute drive from Cromer and half an hour to Wroxham Broad
  • Under 10 minutes’ walk from a village pub and playing field
Nosing around for a north Norfolk break that is well-based for countryside walks, crabbing, cruising The Broads and chilling at the beach? Try Meadow View Camping and Caravan Site, a family-friendly site on the coast just two miles from Mundesley. To be precise, it’s just a 40-minute walk (or a five-minute drive) from its beach and Victorian seafront, where there are beach huts. The site is in a peaceful Norfolk village called Trunch. You might be quite familiar with the place by the end of your stay – and happily so – because it has a social club hosting live music and two beer festivals per year, as well as a welcoming pub with fodder, beer, good music and other events. As if that isn't enough already, the village also has countryside walks, a playing field and a 15th-century church. No need to leave furry family members behind at Meadow View Camping and Caravan Site, as it's dog-friendly. Barbecues and firepits are also both welcome (just note that only firepits hired from Meadow View are permitted). You should have plenty of good tales for the firepit, with there being so many beaches nearby: Trimingham (10 minutes’ drive), Cromer (15 minutes) and Sheringham (25 minutes), for example. Walcott beach, 10 minutes' drive away, is a fine choice, with a café, ice cream parlour, fish and chips shop and a post office with a shop all along the seafront. In Mundesley, there are pubs, restaurants, cafés, takeaways, another social club, arcades, miniature golf, a petrol station and a supermarket – very handy indeed. Just remember that this is a rural location next to a working farm, so there are likely to be country smells and sounds at times.

What customers say

This is a spacious, peaceful campsite with large, level pitches and lovely countryside views. Visitors consistently praise the friendly, helpful owners and the exceptionally clean facilities. Fire pit hire and proximity to the coast and local pubs are highlighted positives. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, a few mention potential for queues at facilities during peak times due to their basic nature. Overall, it's considered excellent value for money.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Wow, wow, wow! Immediately met by Christine and her team who were incredibly welcoming and helpful.

A beautiful large field, with spectacular views of the landscape and a short walk to the village pub. On Christine's suggestion we visited the local social club and so glad we did. Friendly locals, BBQ and the cheapest priced gin ever!

A short walk of 2.5 miles to the beautiful Mundesley beach for ice-cream, cockles and of course crab.

The facilities were spotless and no queuing for a shower, heaven! Longing to get back there before the season ends.

Disliked Going home - should've booked for a week!

Electric grass pitch

Liked Everything. Really lovely location, atmosphere and the facilities were so well maintained.

We are new to camping so don't have a huge amount of other places to compare this to but we couldn't fault our experience. The owners were really friendly and the additional option of the campfire made it all the more fun for us and the our two children.

As it was a lovely open space we were able to relax watching our kids playing and making new friends without worrying about traffic or them disappearing from sight.

We would definitely recommend this place and will likely be returning in the not too distant future!

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked Really liked this site. circa 25 pitches around edge of large well-cut field. Toilets and showers generally in very good order, although one of the unisex toilet hand-dryers was temperamental.
We were extremely well looked after by the staff who were very welcoming, helpful and always around.
Site is child and dog friendly with lots of room for kids to play.
The nearby dog walk down a ‘loke’ (what dies that word mean? 🤔)
We hired a fire pit and the provision of word was more than sufficient for our stay.
Good washing up facilities marred only by the fact that the hot water needed time between washes to get warm again.
The site was calm and very laid back in a great location for all sorts of North Norfolk adventures!

Disliked Hand dryer not working in one of the units.
Washing up facility sometimes lacked hot water briefly. Neither of which were a problem but just mentioning.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked A lovely spaced out, open field. Plenty of room between pitches. Fire pits are good value. Clean toilets and showers. The owners are lovely and dealt with a fellow camper situation very well.

Electric grass pitch

Liked We loved the vast open field that gave far reaching views of the surrounding countryside, and there was so much space around us it felt like there was hardly anyone there at all.
A good bus service in the village meant we could leave our van and explore the surrounding area freely.
The owners and staff worked tirelessly to ensure everything and everyone was looked after, the site is a credit to them.

Electric grass pitch

Liked The local pub was OK

Disliked Very noisy with dogs barking a lot. Lots of music playing loudly and radios on all day. Got told off by the camp site owner for complaining about anti social behaviour (There was plenty of that)

Local attractions

When it comes to getting stuck into the north Norfolk coast, you might want to get a tick list going…there’s Overstrand beach and Walcott beach to see and crabbing on the pier in Cromer (all within 15 minutes' drive). Keep ticking them off: the lighthouse in Happisburgh (20 minutes), seal spotting at Blakeney Point (40 minutes) and Waxham (35 minutes) or sandy beaches at Sea Palling (half an hour) and Wells-next-the-Sea (55 minutes). The latter has a gorgeous fishing port running seal-watching trips. Inland’s just as excellent. There’s a generous handful of National Trust properties within driving distance, plus ways to get out onto The Broads in Wroxham (half an hour). You might want to board the Bure Valley Railway there or join The North Norfolk Steam Railway in Sheringham (25 minutes). For all you budding historians, Weybourne (half an hour) has the Muckleburgh Military Collection too. Family-friendly ventures are easily sourced, with various entertainments in North Walsham (10 minutes), treetop adventures at BeWILDerwood Norfolk (half an hour) and all the attractions in Great Yarmouth (50 minutes) like Pleasure Beach, Britannia Pier and Sea Life Great Yarmouth.
