Peaceful countryside setting
Entrance gate

  • Peaceful site in the Wensum Valley, south facing with excellent views
  • Easily explore the county from a convenient mid-Norfolk setting
  • Plenty of fishing, walks and cycle paths locally
If you’re in real and urgent need of a peaceful getaway, then a stay at Bylaugh Country Park should do the job. It might be close to civilisation – the town of Dereham is within 10 minutes’ drive and Norwich is half an hour away – but the quiet and secluded site in the Norfolk countryside should still give you all the escape you need. This part of Norfolk is paradise for walkers and cyclists, as it's well placed for exploring the county. You can join Marriott’s Way footpath, cycle path and bridleway about 10 minutes from Bylaugh Country Park, or follow its entire length by starting in Aylsham, less than half an hour away. The red route of Norwich’s Pedalways cycle path network is also within easy reach. When you’re feeling peckish, head to one of the many restaurants within 10 minutes of the site or fire up the barbecue for a home-cooked meal; pick up supplies from the small on-site shop or from the village of North Elmham, five minutes' drive drive away. Handily, North Elmham also has a popular fish and chips shop. Once you’ve satisfied your appetite, relax in the peace and quiet, looking out over the Wensum Valley and the quiet Norfolk countryside.

This campsite is exceptionally clean, with immaculately maintained facilities and spacious, level pitches offering plenty of room. The owners are consistently described as friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Visitors appreciate the excellent children's play area and the peaceful, well-kept grounds. Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Only stopped one night could have stopped three or four! Owner nice and polite,Facilities nice and clean, big pitches, service point for motorhome, big area for kids, near enough a full size football pitch area with goals, basketball hoop and toddlers climbing frames. All on grass a real get away from it all with site shop. Outside seating area undercover fo twenty people.
lookout for the owls in there own area near main entrance. Charged hookup

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Toilet block, shower block, washing up area washing machines, fridge freezers, shop nearby walks.
So many positives

Disliked Not a dislike, just a niggle as the site had quietened down after the weekend, putting a tent for 2 right next to a party of 8 adults and 8 children was a bit of a shock to the system, a quieter area would have been more appropriate.

Electric grass pitch

Liked We recently stayed at Bylaugh Country Park campsite with our 7- and 5-year-old granddaughters, and it was an absolute delight. Nestled in the heart of the Norfolk countryside, the site is wonderfully peaceful.

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and shown to our pitch. Our campervan had full electric hook-up included in the pitch fee, which was very convenient. The facilities were spotless, with staff cleaning throughout the day.

We enjoyed exploring the area on bikes, following tracks around the farmers’ fields and discovering Bylaugh Hall. The girls were, of course, more fascinated by a giant haystack along the way!

All in all, it’s a lovely, safe site. Like many of the guests we met, we will certainly be returning.

Oh, you must check out the owls, stunning.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked The most well kept campsite and facilities we've been to at a very reasonable price. Great location for exploring north Norfolk, 30 mins from pretty much everywhere along the coast. Spacious showers with plenty of hooks (one of my bug-bares) separate sinks to toilets and sinks. Impeccably clean. Lovely open field for kids to play in and quiet.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Everything. We have camped in about 15 UK counties as well as sites in Belgium and Holland. Bylaugh Country Park is simply the best campsite we have ever stayed at. Superb generous pitches with great hedges and perimeter areas. I noted that when every pitch is vacated the area is immediately mown and checked by the site team ahead of the next arrivals. The toilet and shower facilities are 5 star hotel quality and the site also offers washing up and freezer facilities. The camp office also has a small shop which includes all the obvious camping needs plus ice cream and wine ...... what's not to love?

Local attractions

Angling fans will be well served with a stay at Bylaugh Country Park – the Wensum river is nearby, as are several carp lakes including the Lenwade and Billingford lakes, both ripe for fishing. The Billingford Fishing Lakes are only five minutes' drive away from the site, whereas Lenwade sits 10 minutes' drive away. If a beach break is more your bag, it's a 40-minute drive to the northern coast of Norfolk, where you can explore the Norfolk Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, walk the Norfolk Coast Path and visit the scenic seaside towns that line it. Head back in time with a trip on the steam trains at Mid-Norfolk Railway and Bure Valley Railway, both within 30 minutes of the site, or by visiting the stately homes of Blickling Estate, Holkham Hall, Houghton Hall and Sandringham, all within 40 minutes of Bylaugh. There’s plenty close at hand for entertaining the kids too: they can meet the wildlife at Pensthorpe Natural Park, run wild at BeWILDerwood or get their own taste of history at Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure. If they’re up for a slightly longer jaunt in the car, you can all get your adrenaline pumping on the rides at Pleasurewood Hills theme park.
