General

  • Peaceful site in the Wensum Valley, south facing with excellent views
  • Easily explore the county from a convenient mid-Norfolk setting
  • Plenty of fishing, walks and cycle paths locally

If you’re in real and urgent need of a peaceful getaway, then Bylaugh Country Park should do the job. It might be close to civilisation – the town of Dereham is within 15 minutes’ drive and Norwich is half an hour away – but the quiet and secluded site in the Norfolk countryside should still give you all the escape you need.

This part of Norfolk is paradise for walkers and cyclists, as it's well placed for exploring the county. You can join Marriott’s Way footpath, cycle path and bridleway about 10 minutes from Bylaugh Country Park, or follow its entire length by starting in Aylsham, less than half an hour away – the red route of Norwich’s Pedalways cycle path network is also within easy reach.

When you’re feeling peckish, head to one of the many restaurants within 10 minutes of the site or fire up the barbecue for a home-cooked meal; pick up supplies from the small on-site shop or from the village of North Elmham, a 10-minute drive away.

Once you’ve satisfied your appetite, relax in the peace and quiet, looking out over the Wensum Valley and the quiet Norfolk countryside.

We had a excellent time staying at the park, park owners are lovely helpful friendly people, the park was very well kept, and plenty of open space for the little ones to run around. The toilet and shower blocks where the best we have ever seen on a campsite, very clean and well maintained with only limited use and a good system in place around COVID.
Excellent little shop for essentials on site which we used a lot.
We will definitely be returning next year hopefully for a little longer next time 🙂

Great site. Really well organised to deal with Covid measures so there was no inconvenience. The site has reduced available pitches so they are very well spaced out. Bathroom and washing facilities were really good and very clean. Although the site was busy with families the site was very quiet at night. With a good location for getting to the coast and inland activities it is highly recommended. However what lifts this site above others is the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners. Nothing was too much trouble- they even lent us an electric adapter as we had left ours at home.
We booked the site at short notice as holiday plans changed but what a lovely experience it turned out to be.

The open space, procedures in place for hygiene/covid we’re excellent running on a key system to hang up so only 3 people in at one time. Most people observed the shower rules to keep to 15 mins. Our son loved the fact there were football goals already in place to play with. Peaceful surroundings and only a few miles to the nearest village with butchers and local shop. Cromer and Yarmouth within an hours drive. We will definitely be returning.

We have just had an absolutely fantastic 3 nights at this campsite. The staff are brilliant, helpful and very friendly. The facilities were very clean and well organised and the whole campsite itself is very well kept. The pitch spaces are very big and level. . The campsite has lots of open space which makes it a great spot for the kids to play. There are lots of local attractions within a half hour drive. We are definitely booking again for next year.
