  • Dog-friendly 13-acre Norfolk site next to Banham Zoo
  • Thetford Forest 25 minutes' drive; 40 minutes to Norwich
  • Adventure play park, games den and nature trail on site
In search of somewhere within easy reach of family days out? That’s certainly one of the selling points of Applewood Countryside Park – this family-friendly 13-acre Norfolk site is right next door to Banham Zoo, which is home to around 2,000 animals from around the world. That’s certainly a good start – and there’s plenty more nearby too, as this site is well set for all sorts of attractions for all ages, including forest walks, National Trust properties and a long list of excellent child-friendly activities. On a more practical front, it’s also handily just a few minutes’ walk from Banham’s village amenities, which include a pub, convenience store, takeaway and butcher (a useful one for bits to load on your barbecue). This isn’t a place that relies solely on its location to win points, though – there’s also a good collection of facilities right here. Kids will be able to let off steam at the adventure play park, play trail and covered games den, and there’s a mile-long woodland nature trail for them to explore (it makes a good place for dog walking, too). On the practical front, facilities include a laundry area, a chemical disposal point, a wifi connection and modern bathroom blocks with two fully accessible/family bathrooms.

Electric grass pitch

Liked We stayed over the late may bank holiday whilst going to watch the BTCC at Snetterton. We absolutely loved everything about this place, the pitches were spacious, the staff were lovely, the site was immaculate and the animals next door made for much nighttime amusement.

The weather was absolutely glorious too.

We will be back!

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The facilities were spotless and the hot showers were awsome. Staff were so helpful and even booked our lunchtime meal at the red lion pub which was a lovely meal.

Disliked Power supply was ok to start with then we lost voltage for a few hours the retuned to normal later. Phone signal isn’t great.

Disliked Everything was perfect, the price was a bit more than we usually pay but worth it.

Camping pod (no pets, premium, two person)

Liked Loved the pod! Great value for money and very comfortable. The site itself had everything we needed - including a fabulous shower block

Disliked I wish we could have included one small child in this luxury pod (we would have happily provided our own bedding)

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely feedback — we’re so pleased to hear you loved the pod, found it comfortable, and good value for money, and that you enjoyed the showering facilities too.
We completely understand your comment about including a small child. Unfortunately, our Posh Pods are limited to a maximum of two people due to safety reasons, which we have to adhere to strictly. We really appreciate your understanding.
We hope to welcome you back again in the future.
