Charlie Bassetts, a family-friendly site in the grounds of a fab pub (closed on Mondays) serving up homemade food and tasty ales, is a place many of the smart folk who’ve visited quite rightly deem a hidden gem. See for yourself by settling down at this destination in Dilhorne, 20 minutes from the rides at one of Britain’s best theme parks, Alton Towers, and the aquatic antics at Waterworld. It's in an easy-access section of Staffordshire, just off the A50 road and 15 minutes' drive from Stoke-on-Trent. Popular Peak District towns like Buxton (25 minutes) and Bakewell (an hour) are easy to get to too. Rather roams over rollercoasters? Potter through the Peak District (25 minutes) – there are plenty of pretty paths over yonder as well as closer to the site if you’d rather not drive. Ambles are to be had in the grounds too, over by the farm animals or to the play area, where mums and dads are regularly seen supervising the kids in front of a scenic background. When the kids start to get peckish, stroll over to the inn for food. The pub is open from lunchtime until late every day (just note that on Mondays, there are no main meals served). Breakfast is also available on Friday and Saturday mornings, from 9am to 11.30am. And what about those essential amenities of life? The site has separate ladies' and gents' toilet blocks with showers, as well as a washing-up area.

Liked 1st trip here, was not disappointed, the site is great, the pub has gorgeous food & the staff are so friendly & polite a real credit to the whole trip , the toilets & showers are spotless, the greeting at at reception was also very welcoming.

Liked Location, view, dedicated dog field, clean well maintained facilities, good size plots with power & water. Charlie Bassetts pub atmosphere, pub outside seating drink & food.
We avoided the well attended pub evening entertainment but it did not disturb us at all.

Liked Really nice stay here, well organised site with very clean toilets and showers. Had everything we needed including a fenced dog field. The pub serves food and we had 2 takeaway pizzas which were delish. Helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommended and we hope to visit again.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Decent sized flat pitch with water and EHU. The pub, serving food and a selection of ales, was just a short walk away. There was no noise from the pub or the outside Sports Lounge that had two large screens showing Sky Sports. Just a shame that they couldn't arrange a better result!
The toilets and showers were surprisingly good and modern, not at all in keeping with what you expect from a pub's outside toilets.
The dog exercise area was a good feature but could have been a bit larger, especially as our dog likes a ball being thrown.
There is also a Public Footpath which runs from the bottom of the site but could have been better displayed. The weather was a bit too naff to investigate the path further.

Disliked I'm struggling to think of anything to dislike.
