Charlie Bassetts, a family-friendly site in the grounds of a fab pub (closed on Mondays) serving up homemade food and tasty ales, is a place many of the smart folk who’ve visited quite rightly deem a hidden gem. See for yourself by settling down at this destination in Dilhorne, 20 minutes from the rides at one of Britain’s best theme parks, Alton Towers, and the aquatic antics at Waterworld. It's in an easy-access section of Staffordshire, just off the A50 road and 15 minutes' drive from Stoke-on-Trent. Popular Peak District towns like Buxton (25 minutes) and Bakewell (an hour) are easy to get to too. Rather roams over rollercoasters? Potter through the Peak District (25 minutes) – there are plenty of pretty paths over yonder as well as closer to the site if you’d rather not drive. Ambles are to be had in the grounds too, over by the farm animals or to the play area, where mums and dads are regularly seen supervising the kids in front of a scenic background. When the kids start to get peckish, stroll over to the inn for food. The pub is open from lunchtime until late every day (just note that on Mondays, there are no main meals served). Breakfast is also available on Friday and Saturday mornings, from 9am to 11.30am. And what about those essential amenities of life? The site has separate ladies' and gents' toilet blocks with showers, as well as a washing-up area.

Syntes om What an amazing site and staff. we were there for the Halloween party for the grandchildren. the staff could not enough for them lovely toilets and showers and a big family room and a good dog exercise area clean site will be back over Christmas

Clean toilets and shower

Nice man on arrival and a man named Luke who helped us back into a spot!

Syntes ikke om Electric was so poor this time. Not sure what was going on? We brought our 3 and 4 year olds and with the weather so cold with the electricity going on and off we was worried about our heating to keep them warm. We also couldn’t eat food until gone 9pm both evenings and our fridge went off also which meant some items had to be thrown away. We rang the on site telephone number on the Friday evening to ask for help however all we could hear was people shouting in the pub and after the third time of calling I was told “everyone else’s is on now” and “it’s just a case of waiting”. As you can imagine this wasn’t helpful in the slightest and infact annoyed me even more to know everyone else’s was on. On the Saturday we moved pitches but the electricity continued to go down. When it went down for the 4th time I called however someone spoke to me and was helpful. Was disappointed that the 45mins sat waiting for electricity to come back on could have been avoided if we had just called up sooner as we was told this time all that needed to happen was “a switch needed to be flicked” from the pub. We have been before and loved it so much so we potentially would come again to see if it was a “one off” but wouldn’t recommend a friend after this occasion.

Secondly on the Disliked feed back we can only apologise and the issue was out of our control ,
We are in a Rural setting and at some times ( Very Rarely) High demand on the Site system can cause these issues to happen.
Has far as i am aware it tripped x3 Times and was reset very quickly .
On x1 of of those occasions you spoke to me directly and i did it as we spoke.
All caravans/Motorhomes have x3 Sources of power ,
- 240Volt
- 12 Volt
- Gas
So most people just CHANGE OVER AS NEEDED TO THE OPTION AVAILABLE . Not sure if your Unit has this but most do .
Regardless of that we can only apologies. This is a very Rare occurrence on our site ,

campingvogn på pladsen 1 soveværelse

Syntes om We went in the onsite caravan, 2 adults our 10 year old granddaughter and our 1 year old boarder collie.

The caravan was great, clean and warm which was good as we had 2 storms over our stay.

The site is excellent, very clean and well set out, and toilets and showers very clean. And the onsite Dog field was great a bonus.

We had food and drinks in the onsite Pub, very welcoming and dog friendly and the food was 10/10.

Syntes om First time visiting Charlie Bassetts, first time caravan owners and wanted a couple of nights local to have a test run. Weather was unfortunately against us we had a storm but we still absolutely loved it. The site itself is beautiful, and extremely clean! We can't wait to visit in the spring/summer months. My son loved the goats aswel.

This is an ace base for trips to Alton Towers (20 minutes’ drive) for folk who fancy riding rollercoasters like the Nemesis and Oblivion. Spend one day scampering among the top-class attractions here, then slow things down the next with countryside explores. The Peak District National Park (around 25 minutes) is full of walking paths, while other spots like Trentham Gardens (20 minutes) are top for traipsing round too. If checking out cheeky creatures is more your bag, head to Trentham Monkey Forest (20 minutes) and wander among the free-roaming animals. Around 140 Barbary macaques live in the woodlands and meadows here – make sure to look up and spot them swinging through the trees. Once you’ve snapped pics of the primates, set your sights on some of the market towns scattered around the area. Stone, a settlement on the Trent and Mersey Canal (15 minutes), is well-regarded for its food and drink options, while Cheadle (55 minutes), just outside the wood-covered Churnet Valley and the scenic Staffordshire Moorlands, is worth stopping in too.
