  • Family-friendly site at a Staffordshire former army base
  • Just outside the Peak District, five minutes' drive from Leek
  • Play area and picnic tables on site; meet the pet donkeys
There’s an interesting back story to Anzio Heights – this family-friendly Staffordshire site was once an army barracks and Polish resettlement camp, and that means this place now holds heritage status. You’ll see some of the old buildings as you wander around here, but thankfully the vibe is a much friendlier and more welcoming one than you’d have found during the army era. It’s now home to things like a play area and a picnic area, and it’s got nice modern amenities including bathrooms and charging facilities. You’ll also be able to meet the site’s pet donkeys while you’re here. Just outside the quiet village of Blackshaw Moor, this site is well placed for touring the nearby Peak District National Park – perhaps with walks around The Roaches or bike rides along the Manifold Way. Watersports and fishing are also close by at Rudyard Lake, and you can mix up the outdoor activities with trips to places like Peak Wildlife Park or Alton Towers. The pretty spa town of Buxton is 15 minutes’ drive away but your closest town is Leek, five minutes’ drive away and a good source of shops and places to eat. Prefer to get out on foot? A farm shop and pub are within walking distance.

Non-electric grass and gravel campervan pitch (basic)

Liked Wow. What a great spot. It’s got history, great views, a lovely play area, great facilities and run by an awesome couple. We felt very at home and will be returning.

Disliked Nothing! It might be worth noting that the site is a work in progress, so somethings are evolving, but it all added to the interest of this old army base.

Non-electric gravel and hardstanding campervan pitch (XL)

Liked We had a brilliant time staying at Anzio Heights Campsite. The site itself is lovely and well maintained. The toilet and shower setup was spotlessly clean and very practical, and the washing-up facilities made camp chores quick and easy.
What really set this place apart was the hospitality. The hosts were incredibly helpful, personable, and friendly throughout our stay. They even went out of their way to help us sort out an issue with our leisure battery, which was a absolute lifesaver!

You couldn't ask for better hosts or a nicer spot. We’ll definitely be back next time

Liked Excellent little campsite. We only stayed the one night but would have happily stayed longer if we had more time. A very relaxed little campsite, perfect for letting your kids play without worrying where they are and lots of space to run about. My daughter loved that the donkeys were in the field next to the campsite too.
I can’t rate the wifi as it isn’t something that I needed.
