Woods by dog walking field

  • Peaceful and friendly site in the Shropshire Hills
  • Walkers' paradise with many strolls and hikes close by
  • Animals to meet on site; eggs and meat available to buy
Bring those boots made for walking, for you'll be hungry for the hikes around Shropshire's Teds Farm Camping. Based in Sheriffhales, about four miles from Telford, this peaceful, friendly and popular little site is in land where walks are all around, meandering for miles through the wildlife havens of the green Shropshire countryside. Ted's is a smallholding, with grass pitches on a gently sloping field looking out over the surrounding Shropshire Hills National Landscape. Chickens and ducks wander the site – the kids are welcome to say hi or go and meet some of the menagerie at the animal paddock – and free-range eggs and fresh meat are usually available for sale. Among the well-maintained amenities are showers and toilets, chemical disposal points and facilities for charging and recycling. There's easy access from the site to Sheriffhales village, just off the main A5.

What customers say

This well-maintained campsite offers spacious pitches and beautiful countryside views. Visitors consistently praise the friendly and helpful staff, immaculate toilet and shower facilities, and the convenient on-site farm shop. A large open field is ideal for children's activities, and the site is noted for its peaceful atmosphere, particularly during off-peak times. While some found the shower cubicles small, improvements are planned.

Liked We liked the view, the staff and space

Disliked The showers are very small for a parent and 1 or two children.

From the manager: Thanks for staying at Ted's and for your review, it's much appreciated. You might have seen in previous review comments that when we took over we refurbished the shower block fitting in extra showers and toilets, we know they are not the biggest and we are hoping that we can make further improvements to the showers in the near future. Hope to see you again! Liz Dave and Erica

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Nice clean field with option for electric or non-electric pitch, fairly flat, good views, very clean toilets and showers, and a dog walk route just around the corner.

Disliked I would like more signs, had a little trouble finding it as the satnav stopped a few hundred yards before the camping site, according to postcode navigation.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.
We will look into perhaps having a sign in the village.

Fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Great site, really peaceful although this was an off peak visit. Staff really friendly and helpful. Facilities spotless.

nice golf courses on the doorstep!!

Fully serviced was just that with proper drains for grey waste rather than just a pipe to a hedge.

Nice farm shop with local produce.

Will certainly re-visit this site.

Local attractions

As you'll have brought your sturdy boots, stride out into the Shropshire Hills National Landscape in any direction for green countryside and wildlife haven walks, or drive in the Telford direction for a woodland wander around Wrekin Forest. Striding around establishments is also a topping option when on holiday in any locale, so check out the craft and antique shops, tearooms and pubs, grocers and butchers of the region's market towns like Ellesmere, Market Drayton, Oswestry, Bishops Castle, Ludlow, Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth. Set in the centre of Shropshire on the River Severn, the Tudor town of Shrewsbury is also well worth a wander, for more shopping (but of course), Shrewsbury Abbey and Shrewsbury Castle, the museum and art gallery, town centre park and – if you're in town in mid-August – the famed Shrewsbury Flower Show. Also around in Shropshire and its surrounds are award-winning museums, lushly green gardens, farms and abbeys, historic houses managed by the National Trust and English Heritage, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, about 20 minutes' drive from Teds Farm Camping.
