  • Peaceful and friendly site in the Shropshire Hills
  • Walkers' paradise with many strolls and hikes close by
  • Animals to meet on site; eggs and meat available to buy
Bring those boots made for walking, for you'll be hungry for the hikes around Shropshire's Teds Farm Camping. Based in Sheriffhales, about four miles from Telford, this peaceful, friendly and popular little site is in land where walks are all around, meandering for miles through the wildlife havens of the green Shropshire countryside. Ted's is a smallholding, with grass pitches on a gently sloping field looking out over the surrounding Shropshire Hills National Landscape. Chickens and ducks wander the site – the kids are welcome to say hi or go and meet some of the menagerie at the animal paddock – and free-range eggs and fresh meat are usually available for sale. They can also go to play at the park, where there's Ted's Tractor alongside swings, slides, interactive games, climbing walls and bridges. Among the well-maintained amenities are showers and toilets, chemical disposal points and facilities for charging and recycling. There's easy access from the site to Sheriffhales village, just off the main A5.

Liked Very quiet, immaculately clean, very friendly and helpful wardens.

Disliked Only 3 toilets for the ladies and the same for the men, perhaps not enough if the site was busy but they are trying to address this

Fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked We had a great time at Ted’s Farm! When we arrived the staff greeted us, explained all we needed to know and was extremely friendly!

We went to our pitch and it was perfect! Fantastic size, lovely separation between each hard standing plot and lovely views.

Then we explored the site, the park was great for our little one, she loved it! She also enjoyed seeing the chickens & peacock. The shop was superb, again friendly staff and a great selection. The toilet block was always immaculate!

Electric grass pitch

Liked Large Secure site with gated access, lots of open space and a lovely shop.

Disliked For the size of the site and the amount of families with small children the facilities are inadequate. Only 2 showers and small toilet block that was constantly full, I witnessed someone using the washbasins as a nappy changing and dressing area for their small child..luckily we booked one night whilst passing through the area.

From the manager: Thank you for the review, sorry we didn't hit the mark for you this time. Our shower block is well reviewed for its cleanliness (yey!) but also the limited size (boo!). We did what we could when we took over, refurbishing what we had and we managed to fit an extra shower in each. We know the facilities are compact, especially on busier days, but do tend to manage ok, so sorry you found them to be full. Our planning application for a new block is in and we hope to hear good news by the end of the summer with work commencing soon after.... watch this space. Hope you will come back and visit again. Liz, Dave, Erica and Eliza,

Lovely site and staff, but unbearable noise next to camp due to rave!!

Electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely clean site, staff were lovely too. Big play area for the kids and the farmer brought out ice creams for the kids on his tractor that the kids loved! Nice little shop too stocked with the essentials.

Disliked There was a extremely loud rave going on next to the campsite, with loud music and bangs until very late at night. Two of our children are autistic so found this very stressful indeed.

From the manager: Thank you for your review and sorry to hear you didn't enjoy all of your stay with us. The music and fireworks were from Western Park 5 miles away, it was a private event and we were not aware that it was happening (we will speak to them to see if they can keep us updated in the future). Hope you give us another go sometime, all the best, Liz, Dave and Erica

Liked The shop and a pizza tent came on site. Site was clean and tidy.

Disliked Noise from festival near the site. We wasn't told about it, but other than that place was tidy and clean..need more showers and toilets.

From the manager: Thanks for the review and for staying with us :) It was a private festival at Western Park (5 miles away), we didn't know about it either :( I'm going to speak to them about keeping us updated. We don't usually hear them too much from here but this weekend we did. Watch this space for updates on the new shower block, hope to see you again soon Liz, Dave and Erica

Local attractions

As you'll have brought your sturdy boots, stride out into the Shropshire Hills National Landscape in any direction for green countryside and wildlife haven walks, or drive in the Telford direction for a woodland wander around Wrekin Forest. Striding around establishments is also a topping option when on holiday in any locale, so check out the craft and antique shops, tearooms and pubs, grocers and butchers of the region's market towns like Ellesmere, Market Drayton, Oswestry, Bishops Castle, Ludlow, Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth. Set in the centre of Shropshire on the River Severn, the Tudor town of Shrewsbury is also well worth a wander, for more shopping (but of course), Shrewsbury Abbey and Shrewsbury Castle, the museum and art gallery, town centre park and – if you're in town in mid-August – the famed Shrewsbury Flower Show. Also around in Shropshire and its surrounds are award-winning museums, lushly green gardens, farms and abbeys, historic houses managed by the National Trust and English Heritage, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, about 20 minutes' drive from Teds Farm Camping.
