  • Peaceful and friendly site in the Shropshire Hills
  • Walkers' paradise with many strolls and hikes close by
  • Animals to meet on site; eggs and meat available to buy
Bring those boots made for walking, for you'll be hungry for the hikes around Shropshire's Teds Farm Camping. Based in Sheriffhales, about four miles from Telford, this peaceful, friendly and popular little site is in land where walks are all around, meandering for miles through the wildlife havens of the green Shropshire countryside. Ted's is a smallholding, with grass pitches on a gently sloping field looking out over the surrounding Shropshire Hills National Landscape. Chickens and ducks wander the site – the kids are welcome to say hi or go and meet some of the menagerie at the animal paddock – and free-range eggs and fresh meat are usually available for sale. They can also go to play at the park, where there's Ted's Tractor alongside swings, slides, interactive games, climbing walls and bridges. Among the well-maintained amenities are showers and toilets, chemical disposal points and facilities for charging and recycling. There's easy access from the site to Sheriffhales village, just off the main A5.

Liked Friendly welcome. Decent little shop with essentials, coffee, cake etc. Large field so everything is well spaced out. Nice themed playpark for the kids.

Disliked Not a dislike but the amenities block was quite small for the size of the site (2 male and 2 female showers) and while they were cleaned frequently it was quiet when we went.

Liked Staff are really lovely, there was pizza on site and the shop is well stocked and reasonably priced. There’s a good park for the kids and chickens the site is secure and surroundings are beautiful

Disliked There isn’t anything I didn’t like this is a well run and maintained site. I wasn’t aware of a WiFi option but I had good mobile data signal so no problem for me personally.

Liked We’ve just returned from a fantastic stay at Ted’s Farm Campsite and honestly couldn’t fault it.

The on-site shop is exceptional, stocked with everything you could possibly need and plenty of little luxuries too. From beautiful chutneys and local cheeses to quality meats and an impressive wine selection, there were moments when I genuinely felt like I’d wandered into Waitrose!

The site is incredibly family-friendly. The new play area is brilliant, with football nets (complete with footballs provided) and a large central play space where children can safely play and make friends. A particular highlight for our children was the tractor coming around with free ice creams – such a lovely touch that really made their day.

The pitches are huge, giving everyone plenty of space and making the whole site feel relaxed and uncrowded. The shower and toilet facilities, which were immaculately clean are a little on the small side but the owners are fully aware of this and are already seeking planning advice and permission for a new shower block. In reality, even on one of the busiest weekends of the year, with the site packed the night before the Cosford Air Show, we never struggled to get a shower and didn’t experience any significant waiting times.

What really stands out is how much thought, care and investment has gone into the site. The owners are clearly committed to continually improving the facilities while maintaining the friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

We had a wonderful stay and will definitely be returning. A fantastic campsite that strikes the perfect balance between excellent facilities, family-friendly fun and a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended.

From the manager: Thank you for leaving a review and for staying with us, much appreciated :) The field is gently sloping in places but you can always request a 'flat pitch' if you don't have levelling ramps, we always do our best to accommodate requests. We also have spare ramps on site if needed. Hope to see you again! Liz, Dave and Erica

Liked Absolutely everything was spot on! The warm welcome, the grounds were spotless, the toilets and facilities were squeaky clean! Can’t fault Teds farm at all. The views of the surrounding fields was so beautiful. Percy the Peacock was fantastic! Such a gorgeous majestic animal! We will be coming back in September with the kids this time. Their playground area was so loved by the children while we were there, our kids will absolutely love it!! The chickens were very nice to see. We didn’t get chance to visit the farm shop but we heard nothing but great things about it! 10/10 Teds Farm! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Disliked Absolutely nothing technically!!

However the road leading up to the farm was a bit bumpy, fine with you have a 4x4 but I have an Astra and it’s my own personal issues with fears of constantly having suspension issues on my car.

From the manager: Great pictures! Thanks for the review, look forward to seeing you again in September, we will get a park review from the kids when they've checked it out :) All the best Liz, Dave and Erica

Ps. We do keep an eye on any potholes on the approach road and get them reported when needed (it's actually pretty good at the moment).

Liked Excellent site, recently added electronic barriers, childrens playground, facilities block was always clean. Lovely surroundings, nice and peaceful, can hear the peacock every so often.
Chickens down the bottom end of the field were a nice touch for the children to go and see.
Potential for a facilities block update coming in the near future would be a great addition.

Local attractions

As you'll have brought your sturdy boots, stride out into the Shropshire Hills National Landscape in any direction for green countryside and wildlife haven walks, or drive in the Telford direction for a woodland wander around Wrekin Forest. Striding around establishments is also a topping option when on holiday in any locale, so check out the craft and antique shops, tearooms and pubs, grocers and butchers of the region's market towns like Ellesmere, Market Drayton, Oswestry, Bishops Castle, Ludlow, Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth. Set in the centre of Shropshire on the River Severn, the Tudor town of Shrewsbury is also well worth a wander, for more shopping (but of course), Shrewsbury Abbey and Shrewsbury Castle, the museum and art gallery, town centre park and – if you're in town in mid-August – the famed Shrewsbury Flower Show. Also around in Shropshire and its surrounds are award-winning museums, lushly green gardens, farms and abbeys, historic houses managed by the National Trust and English Heritage, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, about 20 minutes' drive from Teds Farm Camping.
