Summer at teds
Plenty of space on the grass

  • Peaceful and friendly site in the Shropshire Hills
  • Walkers' paradise with many strolls and hikes close by
  • Animals to meet on site; eggs and meat available to buy
Bring those boots made for walking, for you'll be hungry for the hikes around Shropshire's Teds Farm Camping. Based in Sheriffhales, about four miles from Telford, this peaceful, friendly and popular little site is in land where walks are all around, meandering for miles through the wildlife havens of the green Shropshire countryside. Ted's is a smallholding, with grass pitches on a gently sloping field looking out over the surrounding Shropshire Hills National Landscape. Chickens and ducks wander the site – the kids are welcome to say hi or go and meet some of the menagerie at the animal paddock – and free-range eggs and fresh meat are usually available for sale. They can also go to play at the park, where there's Ted's Tractor alongside swings, slides, interactive games, climbing walls and bridges. Among the well-maintained amenities are showers and toilets, chemical disposal points and facilities for charging and recycling. There's easy access from the site to Sheriffhales village, just off the main A5.

What customers say

This campsite consistently gets top marks for its friendly, helpful staff, super clean site, and roomy spots. Guests love the great farm shop and popular kids' play area. Washrooms are clean but some found them small; expansion is planned. Peaceful vibe and beautiful scenery make it a must-visit again spot.

Liked Very spacious pitches, enough space for our caravan, dog fence and car to go side by side. Very friendly and helpful staff, amazing play area which our little one loved. Clean facilities and a lovely little shop which supplied more than you would expect. We tried their own tomato and basil pasta sauce and it was very nice!

Liked We had stayed at Ted's farm previously and loved it. This time there was the added bonus of the play area, which is absolutely fantastic!

From the manager: Thank you for leaving us a review.
If you come next year we should have (fingers crossed) our new shower block.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Bathrooms are very clean, great playground for the kids. Could have a awning and large tent at no extra charge. We had an incredible time and would be happy to return.

Disliked If I had to give a dislike it's that there was goose poo everywhere and we never had an issue with the geese, however another family pitched close to us often where screaming and running away from them.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for the review! The geese have been very bold this summer, they are usually just at the bottom of the field.... something for us to have a think about. Glad they didn't bother you and that you have a great time here, look forward to seeing you again Liz, Dave, Erica and Eliza

FHU gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Lovely small camp site. Kids loved the park and farm animals roaming round. Also a brilliant little site shop.

Disliked Toilet/shower block small but very clean. I understand planning permitting this will hopefully be enlarged at a later date.

Liked Spent the weekend camping at Ted’s Farm & would definitely recommend. The staff were friendly & welcoming, the site was clean & well maintained & our girls were never off the park. The shop was really well stocked with tasty treats & they made the kids day when they brought round ice creams on a tractor for all the children, such a nice touch. A lovely weekend was had by all.

Disliked Can’t find fault, they told us on check in that they had planning permission to expand the toilet block but we never had a problem.

From the manager: Lovely review, thank you for taking time to post it.
The kids love the tractor, i think the ice creams are just a bonus.
Glad you all had a good time.

Local attractions

As you'll have brought your sturdy boots, stride out into the Shropshire Hills National Landscape in any direction for green countryside and wildlife haven walks, or drive in the Telford direction for a woodland wander around Wrekin Forest. Striding around establishments is also a topping option when on holiday in any locale, so check out the craft and antique shops, tearooms and pubs, grocers and butchers of the region's market towns like Ellesmere, Market Drayton, Oswestry, Bishops Castle, Ludlow, Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth. Set in the centre of Shropshire on the River Severn, the Tudor town of Shrewsbury is also well worth a wander, for more shopping (but of course), Shrewsbury Abbey and Shrewsbury Castle, the museum and art gallery, town centre park and – if you're in town in mid-August – the famed Shrewsbury Flower Show. Also around in Shropshire and its surrounds are award-winning museums, lushly green gardens, farms and abbeys, historic houses managed by the National Trust and English Heritage, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, about 20 minutes' drive from Teds Farm Camping.
