  • Peaceful and friendly site in the Shropshire Hills
  • Walkers' paradise with many strolls and hikes close by
  • Animals to meet on site; eggs and meat available to buy
Bring those boots made for walking, for you'll be hungry for the hikes around Shropshire's Teds Farm Camping. Based in Sheriffhales, about four miles from Telford, this peaceful, friendly and popular little site is in land where walks are all around, meandering for miles through the wildlife havens of the green Shropshire countryside. Ted's is a smallholding, with grass pitches on a gently sloping field looking out over the surrounding Shropshire Hills National Landscape. Chickens and ducks wander the site – the kids are welcome to say hi or go and meet some of the menagerie at the animal paddock – and free-range eggs and fresh meat are usually available for sale. They can also go to play at the park, where there's Ted's Tractor alongside swings, slides, interactive games, climbing walls and bridges. Among the well-maintained amenities are showers and toilets, chemical disposal points and facilities for charging and recycling. There's easy access from the site to Sheriffhales village, just off the main A5.

Liked Peaceful location, clean site, friendly staff. The childrens play park was the absolute highlight of the weekend for the children. The onsite store had every thing you could possibly need food wise, the cakes available are fantastic and everything is so competitively priced, you've no real need to venture to the supermarkets! The toilet/bathroom facilities were superb and spotless. Despite seeing countless reviews of people highlighting the small size of these; not once did anyone in my family struggle for a shower or to use the toilet. They were maintained during the day and always to a high standard. We really can not fault the site on single bit. If you have come across Ted's and are considering booking, do it! You will not regret it!

Unpowered grass site

Liked Just spent a wonderful few days camping at this lovely site. Check in and pitch allocation was excellent. I was given a lovely quiet spot as requested and I had the most relaxing time just me and my dog. The field is very big, lovely play equipment for children, chicken and geese roaming and I even spotted a peacock ! The toilet/shower block was amazing and extremely clean. There is a well filled farm shop which i noticed when checking in. The owner was lovely. We will definitely be returning 100% !

Disliked Nothing - absolutely perfect!

Fully-serviced gravel and concrete caravan site

Liked Teds was one of the nicest places we have stayed. From your first welcome the staff were lovely, warm welcoming and accommodating. The site is very well maintained and there is lots of space. People of all ages were there as well as groups and it was never noisy. Yes you could hear the children playing happily but it was never enough to take away from the tranquility of the area. Facilities were all perfect, clean good quality and they are adding more facilities which will only improve the place. The shop was beautifully stocked with enough items. They have 3 geese that waddle around and leave wee parcels lol but everyone enjoyed seeing and hearing them. We will definitely be returning next year and happy to recommend this place to anyone.

Disliked Nothing it was all great

Liked Lovely quiet campsite even with kids running around.

Toilets/showers was really clean and well kept.

Staff was really friendly and helpful when my son got a splinter in his foot and helped me get it out.

Really large campsite with beautiful views of the sunset on back of fields.

Chickens/geese and peacocks as a bonus and the park was amazing for the kids plus was a football goal in middle of site for children too what was fantastic.

Was the best campsite we have been too so far and definitely recommend, definitely be looking to come again very soon!

Liked Superb Campsite! I'd rate this realistically as solid 9.5 and definitely my favourite site so far.

As a family of 5 (Kids 11, 8 & 1), the key bits we liked included:

• Not too big, not too small
• Pitch size was massive – probably 10m wide
• Friendly staff.
• Great for kids (superb enclosed park and plenty of field space to run around).
• Safe - Hedges all around and only a single quiet road to enter the site. AKA, if you loose sight of the wonderings, you don't meed to stress. Definitely helped us relax. Plus electric barrier entrance so cars can't come and go easily.
• Very clean facilities
• Brilliantly stocked and well priced shop – you could turn up with no food/drink and be fine.

Disliked Minor points for me:
• Only a small number of pitches are level but it wasn't too bad – barely noticeable infact
• Showers – Very small and prepare to be scoulded and frozen in low pressure water (definitely was better in less busy times)
• No larger shower facilities for families
•There's a few goose who live on the site so there's alot of poop around. It's not offensive though, unlike dog poop.

I feel it's fair to say, none of these points ruined it for me and would/will 100% return.

Local attractions

As you'll have brought your sturdy boots, stride out into the Shropshire Hills National Landscape in any direction for green countryside and wildlife haven walks, or drive in the Telford direction for a woodland wander around Wrekin Forest. Striding around establishments is also a topping option when on holiday in any locale, so check out the craft and antique shops, tearooms and pubs, grocers and butchers of the region's market towns like Ellesmere, Market Drayton, Oswestry, Bishops Castle, Ludlow, Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth. Set in the centre of Shropshire on the River Severn, the Tudor town of Shrewsbury is also well worth a wander, for more shopping (but of course), Shrewsbury Abbey and Shrewsbury Castle, the museum and art gallery, town centre park and – if you're in town in mid-August – the famed Shrewsbury Flower Show. Also around in Shropshire and its surrounds are award-winning museums, lushly green gardens, farms and abbeys, historic houses managed by the National Trust and English Heritage, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, about 20 minutes' drive from Teds Farm Camping.
