    The scenery is absolutely beautiful!
Good choice of wild pitches, though unfortunately the recent weather waterlogged most of them. That said, we found a beautiful pitch.
The fire pit (and ability to use them in the woods sites) was good.
    The owners were friendly.
The toilet/shower facilities were as to be expected: simple but usable.

I don't usually double dip with campsites, but I might have to make my first exception! We got a wild site next to one of the fishing lakes, with woods behind our tent, which was fantastic.

    Disliked:

There was no toilet paper in the toilets, but we brought some anyway as we assumed that might be the case. This just just a warning/reminder to future campers!

We've been Wild Camping here twice in 2 weeks. It's a great little place to visit to get away from the world and you can tell that the owners are working hard to improve the offerings available.
Our 2nd time here, even though we checked the weather beforehand we arrived to be notified storm Aileen was due to hit that night. But fear not, we roughed it out after Richard helped us pick the wild pitch that seemed the safest and got through it fine. The next day we had beautiful sunny weather which made up for it, on top of being the only ones there so we had the place to ourselves to explore.

Thank you for your review and great photographs. much appreciated.

We hope to see you again, you certainly had some very rough weather when you were here but the sunshine on the second day must have been a welcome reward.

Thank you for your review, pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. The camp fires are a great added bonus, when we have a walk around the site in the evening we go back home with the wood smoke smell in our clothes and hair and it is simply wonderful.

We only purchased our first tent this month and wanted somewhere fairly local to us for the first time of using it. The owners of the site were very helpful in suggesting where they thought we would be happy and that if we had any problems just to let them know. The site was lovely next to a lake with beautiful surroundings, it was like being in another world. Everyone on the site was friendly and told us that if we had any problems with the tent they would help us. We have had a wonderful time and feel very relaxed and rested after our weekend. We will be definitely going again

Peaceful family friendly site. The owner Christine was great, she refroze my ice packs & charged my phone for me, she walked round the site at 10pm enforcing the noise curfue which was great for me as this ensured my daughter slept peacefully, one group of young people caused a noise problem Until 2am (I personally didn't hear them but they disturbed nearby families) so Christine asked them to leave the site & the problem was sorted.
This really is a lovely family camp site and not suitable for rowdy groups... thankfully they are not tolerated either.
I got the feeling from Christine and the other staff that nothing was too much trouble...and if they could sort any issues out they would. My daughters already asking when we can go back.

    Disliked:

Nothing really.... if I was being really picky I'd say I'd like to see a small play area for the kids, maybe in the woods, with a couple of swings etc.. but my daughter had such a lovely time it didn't matter in the slightest.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review delighted that you are happy with what we are doing here it's important that we get it right. You are quite right we do not tolerate unsocial behaviour and frankly its unusual but it happens and it is dealt with - swiftly.

As for the play area it is in hand, not in the woods but on the meadow - more open so parents can watch from the meadow. Not too far to walk from the woods either.

Look forward to seeing you again.

We loves the open views across the meadows, and the well laid out walks through the woodland and around the fishing pools. The location is lovely and quiet. The owners are very lovely, and work hard to make sure we were enjoying our stay. Young Joe is such a lovely asset to the site, driving around and distributing logs for our evening camp fires. We were a bit unlucky on Friday as a group of youngsters decided to talk, very loudly until the early hours. However, the owner really impressed us with how swiftly, diplomatically but firmly she told them they were to leave as their behaviour had been unacceptable. It is a really nice family friendly site where we particularly enjoyed our evenings, sat by the fires and passing the time away, quietly. We will definite try and return.

    Disliked:

A few small things would really help bring the site up another notch - perhaps supply some hand soaps in the wash basin area, and put an additional shelf or bench in the shower room so guests have somewhere to put their dry clothes whilst in the shower. Also a little shelf in the shower where we could put our own shower gel/shampoo wouldn't go amiss. I recognise the site is still in progress and could see it was being improved with all the lovely cabins on site, but if you could add some extra toilets (separate men's and women's). That would make it all the more comfortable too.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review, have acknowledged your comments about the facilities and we have a handy man booked to put some shelves and somewhere to put shower gel etc.

We have built gender specific toilets on the lakeside and are planning to have more on the meadow side. The Bank Holiday weekend made us realise that our facilities need to be better.

This is a relatively new site and is definitely 'work in progress', however, the owners, Christine and Richard, are lovely and I'm sure they are determined to make this site better and better. The fishing is great with a lovely big carp lake and a small trout pond for the fly anglers. The location is excellent with a lot to see and do locally. Christine dealt very effectively with some undesirable people who turned up and upset everyone. She ejected them from the sight, well done! Joe is an absolute star and an asset to the site.

    Disliked:

£10 to keep a trout to cook, on top of the fishing permit is a bit steep. We were there on a busy bank holiday weekend and the shower and toilet facilities were very basic and totally inadequate for the amount of campers on site. This definitely needs addressing for the future and was the only thing that really spoilt a lovely weekend. Small things like proper locks on the toilets, more shelves and hooks to put things on when using the toilet/shower hut, important details which can easily be put right.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review we are pleased overall that you enjoyed your stay.

You are quite right our facilities need to be improved we did not realise that the Bank Holiday was going to be as busy as it was plans are afoot.

Take on board your comment about the cost of the trout.
