Firepits available for hire

  • Cosy family-run and dog-friendly site in the Cotswolds
  • A 15-minute drive from Blenheim Palace; 25 minutes to Stow-on-the-Wold
  • Barbecues and firepits allowed; access to footpaths and bridleways
After a cosy spot somewhere in the Cotswolds? Historic houses, museums and market towns are out in full force around the cosy Cotswolds Camping in its Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty six miles from Chipping Norton… to be exact, this family-run site is 15 minutes' drive away from Blenheim Palace and within striking distance of many characteristic Cotswolds trails. At the same time, Oxfordshire is the other way and Oxford itself is just 15 minutes’ train journey away from Charlbury Station (five minutes’ drive). As for those of you with a soft spot for a hardcore shopping trip, you won’t be left in the lurch here, as Bicester Village has a shopping outlet 35 minutes’ drive away and Stratford-upon-Avon is 45 minutes’ drive away for handsome riverside scenes and independent shops. Now, how about those hiking shoes? Well, the site has access to fancy footpaths, bridleways and woodland walks, so you’ll be able to get right to the rambling. You might want to stop by the local village, Charlbury, on your way around the local area, as there are food shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants here, all within walking distance of the site. And don’t worry, you’ll be able to carry the good time onto the site, as barbecues and firepits are both permitted – the same for dogs. As for the facilities you’ll have on hand, these include a play area, shower, toilets and a dishwashing area to help you deal with any dirty pots and pans.

Camping pod (two person)

Liked A Nice location which was spacious and situated in nice place to see the cotswold and very relaxing. The warden was friendly and welcoming. The pod was no frills but it was comfortable with a kettle and heater two mattresses inside. It was quiet in the park so this was also great because we didn't have to queue or wait around to use the toilets or anything else on site. The toilets were basic but clean and functional.

Disliked Consent cold water in the disabled toilet. Tap was leaking in the kitchen which resulted in we floor. Lots of bugs ! in the pods but after we are in the countryside on a warm day.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thankyou for your review Hassan , were glad you enjoyed your stay....at some point in the near future were hoping to supply some bug repellent candles with all the accommodations as we seem to have an influx of ladybirds this year. The kitchen tap gets used so much that it has developed a leak, were on the case to get this replaced.

Very clean and new showers were great! Hot and clean

Electric grass tent pitch (six person)

Liked Spacial pitches! attentive staff! Need to learn how to light a fire better for fire pit! Too exhausted by the time husband finally managed it🙄

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for your review Louise , we've made so much effort this year to get the place looking beautiful , upgrading the facilities and employing more staff to make the customer experience even better. I know the wardens usually buzzing around here there and everywhere but in the future give him a text and he will make time to show you how to get a fire going straight away. He's a bit of an expert now haha..glad you had a lovely time.

It was in a convenient location…

Peter S.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked It was in a convenient location for our needs and had availability during the Easter week.

Disliked eMailed owner 3 times in the weeks before my stay to establish the EHU facilities and what length of cable would be required. Finally received an answer the evening before I was scheduled to check-out. Unacceptable to me. If their cancellation policy was anything other than "no refund", that would have been less of a problem. An expensive lesson for us.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Peter it states directly on the website to bring a 25m cable. We receive hundreds of emails per day, we action them as soon as we can. Most of our emails are related to bookings and sometimes due to the sheer volume of emails we receive some get overlooked. Every week typically on a Sunday or Monday when the campsite is quiet the warden will go through the entire list of emails. That's when yours would of been picked up. Our cancelation policy is clear, we don t give refunds but will issue credit notes which are valid for a year or more the dates of a booking if seven days notice is given. Other that that I can only assume you had a nice stay and enjoyed the facilities.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked The location

Disliked No one to greet us as we came in and no direction as where to stay , the toilets were dirty and in the women’s there was no toilet paper all weekend .

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: unfortunately Benjamin , you never gave us an estimated time of arrival. When you give us this information which doesn't have to be precise it means we can plan the day accordingly. Our check in times are from 12 O'clock all the way up until 8pm. Its impossible to have someone stationed in reception for that entire length. When you called I was 5 minutes down the road at the local shop buying cleaning supplies. I did come and great you afterwards. The toilets were not dirty whatsoever, in fact just opening they are sparkling with not a single mark anywhere. Obviously when it rains your going to get mud on the floor but this is cleaned at least twice per day. Every single customer is advised to bring their own toilet roll as the paper often gets pulled out from the dispenser. The four other customers on site during have left positive reviews highlighting the cleanliness of the toilets

Great location for all the Cotswolds.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (four person)

Liked I went early in the season so didn’t expect everything to be bustling, I was greeted, shown around and taken to my lot, very spacious. Shower and toilets were clean. Hot water wasn’t an issue, kitchen area was a great idea with microwaves and fridges. I had a great time.

Disliked Nothing was an issue for me.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Very spacious gravel pitch as the season is just starting.Didnt really have time to explore as we arrived in the dark, but in the morning it looked lovely.
The site was very clean too.
We were greeted at reception by a friendly chap .We did not use the showers or visit shop this time.

Disliked We could hear the road traffic early morning and somebody started up a very loud generator early hours.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Oooh that generator is Thames water down the road, fortunately they've finished their work now. Thanks for your review

Local attractions

Trail time? You might want to begin with the Roman Fosse Way, passing by the towns of Stow-on-the-Wold (25 minutes' drive) and Moreton-in-Marsh (25 minutes). Or from Lechlade-on-Thames (half an hour), perhaps you'll roll right on to the Thames Path, if you’re not drawn into the water with watersports such as canoeing. Characterful towns and villages are a Cotswolds staple and it shows… Burford (15 minutes) is boxed full of unusual shops, pubs and tea rooms, while in Witney (20 minutes), you’ve got classic entertainment courtesy of a multi-screen cinema, shops and leisure centre mixed in with markets and the historic Cogges Manor Farm. In Woodstock (15 minutes) there’s more history inside The Oxfordshire Museum. Like Chipping Norton (10 minutes), the place has a swimming pool, shops, pubs and tea rooms galore, to add to Chipping Norton’s theatre and cinema. Historic are many of the houses around here, and that includes the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Blenheim Palace (15 minutes), the Jacobean Chastleton House (20 minutes) and or the 18th-century Buscot Park (35 minutes). For more activities in the throw of it all, there’s Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens (25 minutes) and Bourton-on-the-Water’s equestrian centre, brewery and motoring museum (half an hour).
