Grass pitches

  • Peaceful farm site with pitches in a well-maintained orchard
  • On the edge of the Malvern Hills, 30 minutes' drive from Gloucester
  • Dog-friendly site; five minutes' drive from the motorway network
Beat a retreat from your workaday cares at Berrends Farm Caravan and Camp Site, a well-maintained spot close to where the Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire borders meet. With spacious pitches, quiet orchard surrounds and easy access to the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty all sorted, all that remains is for you to pack up your kit and drive over here – a task made splendidly straightforward by the fact that this site's a mere five-minute drive from the speedy M50. Once you've pulled up at this rural spot, you could spend days cloud-gazing in the orchard, tramping through the Malvern Hills (perhaps with a dog or two in tow) or visiting cathedral cities like Gloucester (30 minutes' drive) and Worcester (35 minutes). After jam-packed sightseeing jaunts (or days of nothing but sweet repose…), hungry stomachs can be satisfied with a barbecue on site or treated to chef-cooked grub at the nearest pub (40 minutes on foot or a five-minute drive). Provisions for self-prepped meals can be picked up in nearby Ledbury (15 minutes). As is expected when staying at a small-scale farm, here you can expect peace, quiet and splendid views, but you won't come back to base to find a chocolate on your pillow. Berrends Farm Caravan and Camp Site is relatively low on frills, but key facilities like composting toilets, showers and a washing-up area are all on hand.

What customers say

This is a small, friendly farm campsite with many guests praising the peaceful atmosphere, lovely location, and accommodating owners. Visitors found the pitches spacious and flat, with good access to clean and well-maintained facilities. The farm animals are a highlight for many, particularly families. While some reviews mention noise from the nearby M50, it is generally considered not too intrusive. A few guests noted that the facilities could benefit from an update and that rubbish bins occasionally overflowed during busy periods, though this was often addressed by management. Overall, the site is recommended for its value and relaxed country feel.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Just our sort of site! Small quiet farm setting. Grass pitches mainly by a little stream. Very pleasant helpful owner gave us some local pub suggestions. We chose the Farmers Arms a couple of miles away which is delightfully oldy worldy. Very good value food.

Disliked Nothing to dislike

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Very clean site , friendly owners, great location. But vans were a bit crowded my end. But I will go back as it was probably because of awnings that it was tight.
Thanks for an otherwise good weekend.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Nothing

Disliked We couldn’t even get on to the pitch, way too muddy. Owner was away all weekend and said he could “probably pull [us] out [of the mud] on Monday”. Alternative pitch offered on hard standing, was right behind the toilet with absolutely no view!! Toilet had no toilet paper or soap in. We ended up leaving after three failed attempts at getting on to the pitch, to find a better site. Owner very abrupt and dismissive over the phone. Felt like we were an inconvenience to him.

From the manager: We could give a length reply but will try to keep it brief.

The horrendous weather is out of our control.

We discussed with bad reception 2 posibilities where you could pitch but you said you needed to be on grass to pitch your awning.

If you had rang before leaving I would have discussed other options maybe not be grass.

For the record not that I need to I was working locally at a trade show and was back at tea time.

If you had spoken to me I would have refunded cost of the awning if you couldn't use it.

Its so easy to moan. !! I so wish I could have altered the weather.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely quiet location and owners are lovely. We booked really late notice after not being able to find anywhere else within area and they were so accommodating and came back from their valentines dinner early to let us in as get us hooked up. Also saved us the next morning by jump starting our van on our outward journey. Highly recommend

From the manager: Thanks for choosing Berrends we try our hardest to make sure people have a good experience.

However the weather was very unkind when you were here.

See you again

Henri's Hut shepherd's hut

Liked Beautiful, well equipped hut. I liked the fact that the owner rang to see what time we were arriving so he could ensure the hut was warm. Spotlessly clean. Friendly staff. Nice and quiet. Good amenities.

Electric grass pitch

Liked A lovely location and easy to park up. We had electric hookup and were positioned near the toilet and washing up facilities which was ideal for us. The night sky was so clear and our night was very quiet - only heard one moo 🐮 😀 Thank you

Local attractions

Set out for a recce of the Malvern Hills (five minutes' drive) and it shouldn't take long to find a spot to stretch your legs. Hollybush car park (10 minutes) is a pretty good place to start – here there are two scenic circular trails that can also be walked as a figure of eight if you're feeling energetic. It’s also half an hour to Symonds Yat for kayaking on the Wye, climbing and seeking out the peregrine falcons, goshawks and other raptors that breed on top of the rock. The Gloucester branch of the National Waterways Museum (30 minutes) is within a comfortable distance too if you'd prefer interactive exhibits and a narrowboat cruise. You'll likely want to be outdoors as much as poss when in these parts, so earmark some time for visits to Eastnor (10 minutes) and Goodrich castles (25 minutes). Trips over the border into Wales should also be on your radar if you're tempted to explore the overgrown ruins of Grosnor Castle (45 minutes), the handsome market town of Abergavenny (50 minutes) or the Brecon Beacons National Park (from 45 minutes).
