  • Peaceful farm site with pitches in a well-maintained orchard
  • On the edge of the Malvern Hills, 30 minutes' drive from Gloucester
  • Dog-friendly site; five minutes' drive from the motorway network
Beat a retreat from your workaday cares at Berrends Farm Caravan and Camp Site, a well-maintained spot close to where the Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire borders meet. With spacious pitches, quiet orchard surrounds and easy access to the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty all sorted, all that remains is for you to pack up your kit and drive over here – a task made splendidly straightforward by the fact that this site's a mere five-minute drive from the speedy M50. Once you've pulled up at this rural spot, you could spend days cloud-gazing in the orchard, tramping through the Malvern Hills (perhaps with a dog or two in tow) or visiting cathedral cities like Gloucester (30 minutes' drive) and Worcester (35 minutes). After jam-packed sightseeing jaunts (or days of nothing but sweet repose…), hungry stomachs can be satisfied with a barbecue on site or treated to chef-cooked grub at the nearest pub (40 minutes on foot or a five-minute drive). Provisions for self-prepped meals can be picked up in nearby Ledbury (15 minutes). As is expected when staying at a small-scale farm, here you can expect peace, quiet and splendid views, but you won't come back to base to find a chocolate on your pillow. Berrends Farm Caravan and Camp Site is relatively low on frills, but key facilities like composting toilets, showers and a washing-up area are all on hand.

What customers say

This cozy farm site offers a tranquil rural escape with lovely scenery and farm animals. Pitches are usually spacious and tidy, with handy amenities. Some guests noted washroom updates would be good, and occasional M50 traffic noise. Great value and a warm welcome, with many recommending a return trip.

Liked Easy to find and a good stop off for us. Clean toilet facilities and always open despite previous reviews saying that they were locked up.

Disliked Motorway noise. Working farm so more flies. Not much within walking distance. Thought overnight price was expensive in comparison to the previous site's we'd stayed at further south.

Liked Lovely area, animals are so sweet, farm worker was very friendly and introduced us to some of the animals. Great little spot. Plenty of pitch space and well spread out.

Liked I had the loveliest stay for a few days at this peaceful and attractive site. It is fairly small and has plenty of trees around creating some very welcome shade in a heatwave. The owner is friendly and generous, offering me the opportunity to leave later than usual on my last day as the site, unusually, wasn’t busy.
The bathrooms were thoroughly cleaned each day, and there is a fridge available for communal use.
There were calves, goats and a large pig who were enjoyable to watch The occasional farmyard noises including animals added to the charm.
The free wifi was good enough for me to do some computer work, necessary but unavoidable!
I’ll definitely be back from time-to-time to repeat my peaceful, de-stressing few days’ break.

Disliked Nothing.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked The view was nice, owner pleasant, grass well kept. Price.

Disliked Had to phone on arrival and nobody answered, then when we got through to an office they didn’t know we were arriving?

Didn’t know where to pitch. The gardener advised anywhere as it’s not a bank holiday.

General waste bin full to brim, flies everywhere. Toilets and showers smelt really bad. Not enough toilet roll.

Pot wash station was very unhygienic, previous residents left items there?

Flies everywhere! Huge amount of insects which infested our tent. Never experienced that before.

Huge noisy family next to us which were loud most of the night. We just wanted some peace!!

Woken by farmers shouting at cows and dogs early in morning.

Taps too strong at wash station that they soak you.

If this campsite remains like this surely rats around the bins and potentially near guests will infest it. Bins were swarming in the heat by flies, rubbish just mounted up.

Such a shame as we had good expectations before arriving, has the potential of being so much nicer, but overall our experience was a nightmare. Had to travel out most days to just get away from it all.

From the manager: Sorry nothing was right for you.!!!!

Would suggest a farm is not a place for you to go.

I havent got a dog so your comment is strange !!

I was in Scotland with no signal. My phone diverts to my work.

There are signs everywhere saying please make contact if any problems. No contact was made.

The ironic thing is I wish you had been told to go into the non electric field rather in the electric area close to amenities.

I will contact putchup to see if you can be black listed.

From the manager: Thanks for booking and review.

When it is quiet we allow the non electric people to park in the electric area. Moving forward I will do signage out for when its busy.

From the manager: Oh this has really upset me.

Other people I have spoken to thing this is most cruel.

They obviously couldnt/can't read as there are signs up asking for anything of concern please make contact and it would be put right immediately.

No calls no texts no messages were recoeved.

We must remember a facility is only as clean as the last person using it !!

Local attractions

Set out for a recce of the Malvern Hills (five minutes' drive) and it shouldn't take long to find a spot to stretch your legs. Hollybush car park (10 minutes) is a pretty good place to start – here there are two scenic circular trails that can also be walked as a figure of eight if you're feeling energetic. It’s also half an hour to Symonds Yat for kayaking on the Wye, climbing and seeking out the peregrine falcons, goshawks and other raptors that breed on top of the rock. The Gloucester branch of the National Waterways Museum (30 minutes) is within a comfortable distance too if you'd prefer interactive exhibits and a narrowboat cruise. You'll likely want to be outdoors as much as poss when in these parts, so earmark some time for visits to Eastnor (10 minutes) and Goodrich castles (25 minutes). Trips over the border into Wales should also be on your radar if you're tempted to explore the overgrown ruins of Grosnor Castle (45 minutes), the handsome market town of Abergavenny (50 minutes) or the Brecon Beacons National Park (from 45 minutes).
