General

  • Small and friendly site 100 yards from the Severn
  • Close to a riverside fifteenth century inn
  • A short walk from Tewkesbury

Take time out for a spot of fishing on the River Severn, followed by a drink in the fifteenth century inn nearby, where the views are as tasty as the food and drink...

The Willows is a small, friendly site, and you couldn't ask for more in terms of location: despite being encircled by bucolically beautiful scenery, with the river (and separately owned pub) a mere hundred yards away, it’s only a short walk into the lovely historic town of Tewkesbury.

You can pick up your freshwater fishing permit in the pub (as if you needed an excuse for a visit...).

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Lovely pub on site , very friendly and lovely location by the river Severn .

    Disliked:

The shower blocks were outdated and 2 showers for men and same for women is no where near enough. It could do with knocking down and rebuilt bigger and updated. We also encountered a problem with no water as our pump was faulty or we thought. As new campers we asked for help 3 times on the first day we were told , I’ll be over by the manager, Who never came . Then the Saturday night we saw him and he said did you get it fixed 😡 . Drop the part round Sunday and I’ll look , bit late as we’re off Monday . Nice man but no help when needed . Be careful when driving into site as it’s narrow and tight bends , and we were nearly hit head on by a speeding driver coming the other way .

From the manager...

After reversing the customers caravan on to his pitch for him, he came to see me a couple of times regarding his pump.
The electric on the pitch was fine but he thought his pump was faulty, I went round to his caravan on 2 separate occasions but the customer was out, so when I did see him outside of the pub on the Saturday, he said he had sourced one on Facebook but I said if he dropped it off at my motorhome I would take a look at it, but it never appeared.

The managers were incredibly friendly and helpful. Whilst the toilet facilities were small, they were clean and well stocked. The site itself was a little unkempt due to a change in ownership but this did nothing to spoil the fabulous location and atmosphere. We had some lovely long walks and cycle rides and the pub was friendly with good food. I think with the TLC the new managers are pouring into the site, it is a fabulous quiet retreat and we would definitely return. Even the thunderstorms added to the fun!

    Disliked:

Site was like something from a "Carryon film". Pitch was just really a field with a bit of gravel, roads or tracks to the pitch in a horrendous state, toilets/shower block disgusting, mold everywhere, shower only usable by holding the shower head as bracket broken, 2 showers for over 30 pitches. Completely ruined a very good holiday. Will not recommend this site to anyone

From the manager...

I am sorry to here you didn't enjoy your holiday.
We only arrived on site as new managers on the Wednesday afternoon
before the bank holiday and such had very little time to make any improvements.
The shower has been repaired and the toilets have been "deep cleaned"
I wish you would have made your feelings known at the time as nothing was said to Lorna or myself or indeed to either of the outgoing managers!
There are 4 toilets and 4 showers (2 ladies & 2 gents) available for the 22 touring and 14 tent pitches.
I agree they are in need of refurbishment and this will be addressed in the coming days.

Local attractions

Slotted into a slender strip of land at the meeting point of the Severn and Avon rivers, Tewkesbury hasn’t changed much over the centuries: black and white Tudor buildings overhang the narrow streets, and the twelfth century abbey has the highest Norman tower in England. There are town and country museums to explore, historic buildings like the Old Baptist Chapel, plus shops and entertainment aplenty.

The local countryside and riverbanks are great for ramblers and guests will find boat and bike hire, windsurfing and golf courses nearby. Also on your doorstep are the golden villages and verdant hills of the Cotswolds and attractive provincial towns and cities such as Cheltenham and Gloucester.

Must see

  • Tewkesbury Abbey (0.8 miles)
  • Croome Park (National Trust) (8.3 miles)
  • Gloucester Cathedral (8.6 miles)
