General

  • Small and friendly site 100 yards from the Severn
  • Close to a riverside fifteenth century inn
  • A short walk from Tewkesbury

Take time out for a spot of fishing on the River Severn, followed by a drink in the fifteenth century inn nearby, where the views are as tasty as the food and drink...

The Willows is a small, friendly site, and you couldn't ask for more in terms of location: despite being encircled by bucolically beautiful scenery, with the river (and separately owned pub) a mere hundred yards away, it’s only a short walk into the lovely historic town of Tewkesbury.

You can pick up your freshwater fishing permit in the pub (as if you needed an excuse for a visit...).

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Clean and tidy site with a Great pub on site. Very quiet. Next to the River severn.
We walked in to Tewksbury it was about a 20 min walk but you have to cross the river first by boat otherwise you have to go the long way round which is about 40 mins so i was told. We will go again.

Good site with clean facilities, level pitches and a great pub 50 yard 22/10/2018

The location is fantastic. Just 100 yards from the river. There's a foot ferry that can take you across to the Tewksbury side. Pitch was good and level and quiet despite there being a wedding at the pub that afternoon/evening. Facilities clean and tidy. Access is down a fairly narrow lane but that caused us no problem

    Disliked:

Only issue is that the shower block is unheated so can be a bit chilly once autumn arrives

The wardens were very welcoming, friendly, informative and helpful.
The directions supplied are excellent, easy to follow and a must read to ensure safe arrival.
The location is out of the way, picturesque, spacious, but close to an excellent Inn/Hotel.
We appreciate that this site is being rescued from an extended period of neglect. The effort taken so far is impressive and the potential developments are very commendable. Good luck!!
The Lower Lode Inn - the hospitality and friendliness of all is outstanding, the selection of Beer etc wonderful, the food delicious & very reasonably priced, the setting is stunning.

Local attractions

Slotted into a slender strip of land at the meeting point of the Severn and Avon rivers, Tewkesbury hasn’t changed much over the centuries: black and white Tudor buildings overhang the narrow streets, and the twelfth century abbey has the highest Norman tower in England. There are town and country museums to explore, historic buildings like the Old Baptist Chapel, plus shops and entertainment aplenty.

The local countryside and riverbanks are great for ramblers and guests will find boat and bike hire, windsurfing and golf courses nearby. Also on your doorstep are the golden villages and verdant hills of the Cotswolds and attractive provincial towns and cities such as Cheltenham and Gloucester.

Must see

  • Tewkesbury Abbey (0.8 miles)
  • Croome Park (National Trust) (8.3 miles)
  • Gloucester Cathedral (8.6 miles)

National Trust

  • Bredon Barn (3.9 miles)
  • Ashleworth Tithe Barn (5.6 miles)
