What customers say
Great riverside spot, friendly staff, and level sites. Praised for quiet and beauty, but restrooms are dated/basic. Still, many found them adequate and plan to return for the location and value. Some upkeep/cleanliness concerns.

Liked Quite location
Disliked No one was on site as the owner was on holiday. The land wasn’t very well maintained and the facilities were dirty and full of bugs and spider webs

Cheap, good location, pub close, basic.
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Called number as the receptionist was closed due to later arrival and they answered straight away. Spacious pitch. Basic but clean and well kept facilities. Site is very rural so that does come with the farm smells but made no difference to me and the price was very reasonable. Walking distance to lovely pub that served a tasty breakie.
Disliked Ok for a 1-3 night stay to explore the area as a base but I wouldn't want an extended stay due to basic facilities. A little rough round the edges in places.

Primitive grass campsite
Liked Pitch itself was lovely, next to the water and peaceful. Pub next door is great.
Disliked Didn't use the toilets but had a look and they are extremely basic and in need of repair. The steps up to the block are dangerous and felt like one wrong foot would send me flying down the steps or though them. Be very careful. As I said we were self contained so didn't need to use these facilities.

Spacious Site in a Lovely Setting on The Doorstep of The Lowe Lode Inn
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Really not sure why the reviews are not great on here. We stayed last weekend and found the site to be spacious, in a lovely setting with large pitches (ours was very private and looked out to the lake). Each pitch has its own tap and power source so no need to move the barrel to fill up if you have a short hosepipe. We brought our caravan and so used our own facilities mainly but the Elsan point was clean and accessible and the toilet block was regularly cleaned. The site is right next to the Lower Lode Inn with plenty of nice meal options and beverages and the aspect looking out to the river was lovely. The chap looking after the site was very friendly and flexible when we wanted to stay for lunch on our departure day. We will be returning.
Disliked Dark at night but fine with a torch, some pitches could do with gravel replenishment but otherwise all good.

Run-down and neglected site in a great location.
Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite
Liked Peaceful beautiful location and very handy for the pub.
Disliked This was such a disappointment. The site is very run down and neglected. The gravel pitches non-existent, only earth 'hard-standings' and the grass had not been mown recently. There is no path to the shower block which has seen better days. There are not enough facilities to service the site should it become fully or even half-booked: 2 toilets and one shower (which had not been cleaned).
I could not locate a grey waste sink. The toilet disposal point was not great.

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite
Liked Close to an (unrelated) pub.
Disliked Poor facilities. Dirty toilets and showers. Hard standing was totally overgrown. Frosty reception on arrival. Alarm from an empty static caravan going off all night.
All of this for £30 per night. Total rip-off.
We have stayed at a lot of campsites and this is possibly the worst. Find somewhere else.
