The Willows: Sheltered and secluded pitches

General

  • Small and friendly site 100 yards from the Severn
  • Close to a riverside 15th-century inn
  • A short walk from Tewkesbury via the pub's ferry

Take time out for a spot of fishing on the River Severn, followed by a drink in the 15th-century inn nearby, where the views are as tasty as the food and drink...

The Willows is a small, friendly site in spectacular and hugely handy location: despite being encircled by lush scenery with the river (and separately owned pub) a mere hundred yards away, it’s only a half-hour walk into the lovely historic town of Tewkesbury (or 10 minutes when the pub's ferry is running).

You can pick up your freshwater fishing permit in the pub (as if you needed an excuse for a visit...).

Please note

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

Tents are not accepted at this park.

The park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Breed-specific legislation (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Continental touring caravans (caravans built with the door on the right-hand side) are not permitted.

We an overnight stay on our first motorhome adventure. The location is spot on for walking and fishing. It was end of season so we were the only ones on the touring site so very peaceful. Booking was easy and arrival out of hours also made simple. Decent food immediately next to the site. All in all we would definitely stay again !! Thank you

    Disliked:

To be honest the shower room could do with a face lift but as the web site clearly says it's not available due to Covid restrictions we have no rights to complain. Only used it as we were the only couple on site

    Disliked:

This site has potential to be lovely as in nice scenic location close to river. However toilet/shower block very dated and not very clean! Advised close to Tewksbury town but took us an hour to walk through 3 fields! Not the nice river walk we were lead to believe would take half hour! Absolute nightmare trying to get a taxi back to the site. Called numerous companies around 3pm and only one that had availability was at 6:45!!! No sign of the ferry we were lead to believe would take us into town either 🤷🏻‍♀️ Booked 5 nights just about stayed 3. Wouldn’t recommend this site and won’t be going back again

My wife & I stayed at the willow campsite in sept 21 the setting was lovely with a nice pub close by & next to the river.

    Disliked:

Tewkesbury is a hour walk or 4.5 miles to drive which was a bit disappointing as we booked it so we could spend some time in the town. But the worst thing about the place was the toilet block which you would see better in a third world country don’t think it had ever been cleaned. It had no soap in any of the cubicles so I asked the manager who said he would fill them up but 2 days later still no soap…we’ve been stopping at many campsites over the last couple of years but nothing came even close to how these toilets blocks looked. Absolutely disgusting

Local attractions

Slotted into a slender strip of land at the meeting point of the Severn and Avon rivers, Tewkesbury hasn’t changed much over the centuries: black and white Tudor buildings overhang the narrow streets, and the twelfth century abbey has the highest Norman tower in England. There are town and country museums to explore, historic buildings like the Old Baptist Chapel, plus shops and entertainment aplenty.

The local countryside and riverbanks are great for ramblers and guests can find boat and bike hire, windsurfing and golf courses nearby. Also on your doorstep are the golden villages and verdant hills of the Cotswolds and attractive provincial towns and cities such as Cheltenham and Gloucester.
