The Pepper Pot Caravan Park: Main field

General

  • Green and spacious park in Gloucestershire
  • On-site restaurant famous for its excellent food
  • Seven miles to Sharpness Canal and Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust

Greenery and space are on the menu at The Pepper Pot Caravan Park near Dursley in Gloucestershire, which is kept tiptop by its on-site and friendly wardens, who live in and are to hand for any advice or help needed by Pepper Potters during their stay.

Facilities are well-maintained and in a purpose-built shower and loo block; an indoor washing-up area and a coin-operated washing machine are also on site.

But the best part of The Pepper Pot? Its on-site bar and bistro, The Pepper Pot pub, with decently priced home-cooked meals using the best of local ingredients from local suppliers, such as salads, burgers and quality matured steaks. (If you think your little mover and shaker won't fancy a steak, they have plenty to pick from on the children's menu.)

    Friendly well kept site

    Disliked:

Being totally locked in from 10pm till 7am the only way to leave to walk the dog was through the pub next door, my dog likes to get up early for his morning walk as do I and I felt uneasy to go through the pubs garden.
I had read a few previous reviews that mentioned the noise from the M5 which said it wasn’t to loud but in my opinion it was quite invasive

From the manager...

A well kept site with excellent washroom facilities. Handy either for exploring the Cotswolds or as a stop off, as just off M5. The pub is excellent and right by the site - but popular so book.

    Disliked:

As others have mentioned it is close to the M5 but not overlooked by it. There is traffic noise.

  • Liked:

Excellent facilities with a clean, relatively new toilet block featuring separate wash rooms, showers, washing-up area and a waste disposal point. Good ring road lay-out with bushes and mounds separating the pitches. Overall, a well maintained campsite. Very welcoming and helpful warden on site too. There is a very nice pub located next door with good reasonably priced drinks and a lovely beer garden at the rear and a smaller one at the front.

    Disliked:

The traffic noise of the nearby M5 motorway can be heard continually rumbling away in the distance at all hours of the day and night, but we suspected that may have been case when we booked, so I can’t really complain. Some of the pitches were really quite close together, but this didn’t bother us too much.

Local attractions

The Pepper Pot Caravan Park is in a decent spot to use as a base for exploring Gloucestershire and its surrounds, particularly for those who like their wildlife or historic homes. Plenty of other activities and attractions can be found within ten miles.

Two golf clubs are within a quick drive, the Stinchcombe Hill Golf Club two and a half miles away and the Cotswold Edge Golf Club within five. Also within a short drive are Berkeley Castle and the Vale of Berkeley (two and a half miles) and the Cattle Country Adventure Park (two miles) for yee-haw adventuring.

More into historic homes, local history or greenery? Take your Pepper Pot pick from the National Trust's Woodchester Mansion and park or Westbury Court Gardens (seven and 11 miles); Chavenage House and the National Arboretum at Westonbirt (both ten miles), or the National Waterways Museum at Gloucester Docks 16 miles away.
