What customers say
A well-maintained site with spacious pitches and friendly, helpful owners. Facilities are generally clean, and the games room is a popular bonus. Its Peak District location is ideal for exploring. However, the proximity to the railway line and road can cause noise disturbances for some guests. Water pressure issues have also been noted.

Great location and lovely site but water pressure issues unacceptable.
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked The location was great with lots to do on the doorstep, the site was really green, despite the hot summer, we felt safe and the facilities were clean. The views were also lovely.
Disliked The water pressure issues at this site were not acceptable. At several points it was difficult, if not impossible to effectively wash our hands, brush our teeth or clean the dishes. And you can forget about having a shower unless you drop on at the perfect time (didn’t figure out what this was).
The trains were also very loud, but ear plugs on the second night helped this a lot (for some of us).

Great facilities, but the railway noise ruined our stay.
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Clean, single-sex facilities. The games room was also a useful addition, and we appreciated being able to charge our mobile devices there.
Disliked The location is between a railway line and a busy road. I was under the misconception that the trains would stop running before midnight, but unfortunately they continued throughout the night.
Although we had booked four nights, after two sleepless nights we decided to cut our trip short and drive home.

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Really friendly place with great facilities and plenty of space for the kids to run about and had a brilliant games room. We had a lovely time and would stay again.
Disliked The trains are very loud especially at night (obviously not the owners fault) but would recommend earplugs if you are a light sleeper and could do with better signage outside on the road to know which gates are entrance/exit.

From the manager: Thanks for the review Hayley! We hope to see you again soon!
A disappointing stay, especially after such a warm welcome.
Non-electric grass campervan pitch
Liked Clean toilets, open spaces. Free washing detergents.
Close to a great local community run pub/postoffice and cafe.
Disliked The place is tired, it lacks investment,Signage for the new season seems rushed and fixed haphazardly. The location of the office from the entrance is a bit of a trek!
The dog paddock full of long grass, where dog can catch ticks etc. Childrens play area shut due to work in progress (Non seen)
Games hut could do to have a bit of stain to the exterior . No hot water in the showers and little or no water pressure either.
An expensive stay for facilities which aren't working, not to mention a train line close by.
Difficult and hazardous when attempting to join the busy road.

From the manager: Hi Christopher
It's a shame that you disliked so much about your one night stay.
In terms of your comment about lack of investment.... we have recently invested a large 7 figure sum in purchasing the site, and continue to invest significant sums of money and huge amounts of time across the site, it having being left empty by the Girl Guides for circa 3 years. Needless to say, this is an enormous project, which visitors to the site are loving the results of.
The play area is shut for maintenance, and not advertised as open, your comment therefore is a moot point. Strangely enough play ground maintenance teams don't work on a Sunday evenings.....
If you are worried about dog getting ticks then being anywhere in the Peak District poses a risk
Joining the road from the site isnt difficult or hazardous. The Highways Authority of course wouldn't allow that to be the case.

Liked Fantastic site, very clean and specious. We met the owner Gill and she is lovely! Made us feel right at home straight away. The games room was a big hit with my children, and being train mad my youngest loved being next to the railway! We will most certainly be booking here again!

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Nice big pitch, clean facilities and not too busy
Disliked Extremely low water pressure. Sometimes no water at all. Both times I tried to have a shower there was no water. No hot water one day to wash pots and just a trickle of cold water.
The trainline ( which obviously can't be helped) would put us off going again as the trains wake you up it is so close to the field.
The play park was under maintenence so couldn't be used.

From the manager: Thank you for your comments
Regarding water pressure, the valley does suffer from a huge influx of tourists which affects water pressure across the local area. We are investigating options to improve pressure on the site ourselves as the water company aren't open to investing
Next year we will have another shower block open in a different area of the site, with enormous water tanks that will certainly help.
The park is closed for maintenance and is not advertised as it isn't available for use.
Thanks

Liked We have just returned from a stay at Hope Valley Holidays. We had a fantastic time from start to finish. Gill and Andy were both lovely and made our stay perfect. The facilities are clean and well signposted, the grounds are well kept and the location is perfect. We will definitely be returning.
