Peaceful times in the Peak District National Park are pretty much a given at scenic and small Greystones Nawab Camping and Touring, with its first-rate views over green countryside. But add in proximity (an easy seven miles) to the famed Peak District spa town of Buxton and it's fairly safe to say that holidays of a highly relaxed nature are very much on the cards… Those of a more active disposition (alongside spa days, this is also recommended around these parts) have hiking, walking, cycling, pony trekking, climbing and paragliding all close by, as well as a Go Ape centre within a mile for woodland antics. For family days, the caves of Poole’s Cavern are just outside Buxton, the Peak Wildlife Park is half an hour away and Alton Towers is within 40 minutes. A donkey sanctuary is next door to the site. Greystones Nawab is a grassy and peaceful site in a wildlife haven, and is motorcycle, family and dog friendly. It has showers, three toilets, a washing-up area and charging facilities. Wifi is available near the main house. Please note that the site keeps peacocks and rare-breed chickens.

Liked Good location and quiet.

Disliked Having paid for electric hook up you still have to pay £1 to use the shower. The showers and the toilets were not the cleanest. No hand soap or dryer in the toilets. Feel it is overpriced at £30 a night.

Liked There was nothing to like about this campsite

Disliked Do not stay at this campsite. I can't believe I did not read previous reviews. I booked in Hart Toilet and shower facilities were terrible. The campsite was just like a back garden to an old bungalow. Check-in Services was to phone a number and you got allocated a pitch. We stayed on the site for approximately three minutes.. This would not have been a holiday.

Liked Quiet campsite in nice location, lovely walks straight from the site. Sufficient facilities.

Disliked Not overly well kept, quite a bit of rubbish on pitch and around the site. Electric hook up didn’t work on our pitch so had to use next doors.

Liked The pitches were well-spaced, there were several freshwater outlets, the electrical hookups were reliable, and the site is well-placed for Bakewell, Buxton, and visits around the Peaks and Dales. The price was very reasonable and site staff did come check in with us every few days.

Disliked There was only one shower in operation during our stay, and the lights didn’t work in it. During our trip, there weren’t so many people that we couldn’t shower, but if the site was busier this may have been an issue. It would also be helpful to have coat hooks in the loos.

Liked Clean site and adequate facilities for a basic camp.

Disliked I had to stand on the WC to reach the slot for the £1 to have a shower. Just a little bit unsafe!

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Easy access to walks in the area. Shower was nice and clean.

Disliked 2 showers on site but 1 was permanently locked which led to que's every morning. Could do with a tin bin to put ash from firepits which are allowed. A very loud Cockerill who was awake at 4am every morning !!!!

Liked Quiet pitch, but fortunate to get what we considered the best pitch.

Disliked No facilities to speak of. Very small, basic toilets. Only one of two showers working (£1) but nothing cleaned on a regular basis. Junk left lying (example an old broken toilet)
The pub next door was permanently closed, so nothing around within walking distance in the evening.
Quite disappointing, but the location was great and we still enjoyed the camping spot - just made the most of what we had available.
Inexpensive, so that was helpful.
No WiFi or signal available!

Had a fantastic stay at **Greystones Nawab Camping & Touring**. The tent pitch was excellent—spacious, clean, peaceful and well maintained. It’s a lovely place to relax and enjoy the outdoors, with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great camping and touring site. We’ll certainly be coming back! ⛺️🌿

Buxton (10 to 15 minutes' drive away) has plenty to do for all ages, including tours around its Georgian architecture and ambles around the award-winning Pavilion gardens. Shopping and nightlife are most plentiful around George Street, the Quadrant and Cavendish Arcade; for kids of a small size, a soft play centre is in town. Kids of all sizes should like going underground at Buxton's Poole's Cavern, a limestone cave surrounded by Buxton Country Park. Take a guided tour among the huge chambers of the caves to hear tales of the Stone Age people, Roman soldiers and medieval outlaws who used them; after that and above ground, there are woodland trails to wander, rabbits and woodpeckers to spot and – possibly of more interest to fatigued grownups – a café serving drinks and hot snacks. Another spa town – again possibly of more interest to fatigued grownups – is at Matlock Bath, 20 minutes' drive away.
