What customers say
Great Peak District base with pubs & donkeys. Guests love the peaceful vibe and good value. Watch for cleanliness issues in washrooms and muddy grounds. Some coin showers faulty. Facilities adequate but could be better for the price.

Powered grass travel trailer campsite
Liked The pitches were well-spaced, there were several freshwater outlets, the electrical hookups were reliable, and the site is well-placed for Bakewell, Buxton, and visits around the Peaks and Dales. The price was very reasonable and site staff did come check in with us every few days.
Disliked There was only one shower in operation during our stay, and the lights didn’t work in it. During our trip, there weren’t so many people that we couldn’t shower, but if the site was busier this may have been an issue. It would also be helpful to have coat hooks in the loos.

Had a great week including the very vocal cockerel next door!
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Clean site and adequate facilities for a basic camp.
Disliked I had to stand on the WC to reach the slot for the £1 to have a shower. Just a little bit unsafe!

Nice small site. Pitch's are very close to each other.
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Easy access to walks in the area. Shower was nice and clean.
Disliked 2 showers on site but 1 was permanently locked which led to que's every morning. Could do with a tin bin to put ash from firepits which are allowed. A very loud Cockerill who was awake at 4am every morning !!!!

Liked Location - amazing walks from the campsite. Cold water tap fine, nice hot water for washing up, shower was excellent. Flat pitches, great views.
Disliked Owner - he was rude and unwelcoming. Not there to allocate pitch too - was done over the phone - ref pitch numbers too me for suitability which felt like human bingo. Quite a few of the elec hook ups don’t work. Facility wise there was one shower and loo unit which was fine other than the light did not work. 2 other loos were tiny - when you shut the door your knees touched it. Washing up was ok - no drainer and a hand dryer kept going off when you put dishes on the drainer. No hand soap anywhere. I called to amend my booking - non accommodating as I’d booked via pitch up and they took fees. Big mound of bagged rubbish - gets cleared every 2 weeks by owner. Quite cramped and no space for car and tent together. Cockerel on site and does crow.

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Flat pitch, easy to set up. Near Buxton and couple food places close by
Disliked Cockrall will wake you up at 4am. Lots of pitchs in a small space so they're squashed together.
Only 2 toilets which are fairly small so you fall onto the seat when you close the door. 2 toilet/shower cubicles. 1 seemed to be always locked so just one shower which was everyone's first choice toilet as it had the most room.
Also no phone signal at the site

From the manager: Hi
Really ???
We have 3 toilets not 2 you saying
Small pitches according to you but are
Over 7+ meter wide by Over 10 m
Toilets are used by NORMAL PEOPLE everyday they don't seem to have issues
Phone signal is available but can be patchy you are in hilly area
Nice place for a one night stay
Powered grass tent campsite
Liked Campsite was easy to find , close from our day out , had plenty of pitch space , it was a small but friendly site with lovely surroundings , the donkeys next door were lovely to see. When called staff they were very helpful .
Disliked The toilets and showers could really do with an upgrade for the price paid to stay there , they were small and cramped compared to other places had stayed for the same cost , unkept a little and ran out of toilet roll in the morning but it didn’t totally put me off staying again if I returned to the nearby area.

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Location. nice grass. simple site.
Disliked Toilets and showers are simple which is great but not cleaned. soggy toilet roll in the shower from when we arrived till we left indication no cleaning.
silent hours clearly stated but even the owners who live close were up early hours cheering a football game i think.

Nice place for seasoned campers not worried about luxury
Powered grass tent campsite
Liked Nice location, quiet during mid-week. Had a lovely stay. Close by to some lovely footpaths and a 15 min mute walk to a gorgeous pub (The Royal Oak).
Disliked Not so much dislikes but for awareness; this is a very basic campsite with very basic facilities. If you’re a seasoned camper this probably won’t bother you but if you’re looking for comfort and luxury this isn’t the site for you.
There is also a cockerel that lives right next door to the campsite which crows between the hours of 3am and 6am so if you’re a light sleeper this may be a problem for you.
The toilets do not have towels or dryers for drying your hands and do not have soap either so make sure to bring your own.
The showers are £1 for 5 minutes (coin machine operated) so make sure to bring enough cash if you like to have long showers.

From the manager: Small basic campsite we advertise
Also
Peacocks and rare breed chickens we clearly mention in our discription of campsite
Cockerell and peacock is only doing what comes naturally
We do put soap but soon it vanishes just disappears

Liked Lovely people
Easy to find
Location was good for three shires as roughly 20 mins down the road.
Disliked The noise from peacocks and roosters in the morning
£1 to use shower for 5 mins
The facilities were a little unclean I.e. toilet brush, air vent could do with a good once over.
