Liked: Clean, friendly, beautiful views, great walks from the site, plenty of space, but it is a basic site. Toilet block is old but fully functioning.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: We absolutely loved everything about it, the view, the staff. Just everything was excellent 5*. Lovely welcoming at entry lovely man showed us where things was. We would really love to try some other places as we have just brought a big tent and want to try find some amazing places we can travel back to.

Disliked: I would say the only thing that was a problem was the toilets as there was only one block of them. We was the furthest away so meant we had to walk far to them. Which isn’t a bad thing at all we don’t mind it but for others may be hard.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Lovely large field with lots of room and great views. Hosts were helpful and checked on us each evening. Electric showers and plenty of hot water for washing up. Lovely walks from the site and easy cycle access to the Cromford canal (apart from the hill back up to the campsite!) We enjoyed The Bear Inn at Alderwasley (5 mins drive) - great food.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: You can choose your pitch, very basic but clean toilets/shower block, and fast running drinking water in convenient position. Really friendly Farmer/family, felt really welcomed there. Really relaxed but also quick to react to noisy campers so you're more or less guaranteed a peaceful stay. Good sunny field. Quiet pitch just light hum of the nearby A6. Lovely cafe on the bottom of the hill, and start of Cromford canal walks in writhe direction to nearby villages.

Disliked: Not much to dislike - grass was quite long so ground sheet was bumpy and most areas on a slope so its good if you have ramps for a van or open early to pick the more level areas of the field.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Nothing not to like , been many times before and is always perfect. Field was dry and firm even after all the rain , will be back very soon for sure. The area is very large and even with a decent amount of campers there was plenty of space

Local attractions

Plot out the way to the Peak District… will it be fish and chips by the river in Matlock Bath (10 minutes' drive) or taking the cable car to the Heights of Abraham’s underground caverns (10 minutes) that gets your attention first? Gulliver's Kingdom (10 minutes) is just outside the town too for those of you with kids tagging along. Places that bring a little of history to your holiday are easy to find around here. There are period buildings and vintage trams ready for boarding at Crich Tramway (10 minutes), tours and walks around the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Cromford Mills (10 minutes) and the Nine Ladies (25 minutes) stone circle to see. Belper (10 minutes) is part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site – so you'll be well-set to learn more about the Peak District's industrial heritage – and for other interesting little places, Wirksworth (10 minutes) has a lively marketplace, heritage centre and a museum with the bones of old villagers. For those of you with an artistic streak, Denby Pottery Village (15 minutes) runs pottery painting in its craft studio, or you could look inside the farm shop and factory shop to see what goodies are available to take home.
