Noisy music blasting all night, not family friendly or peaceful.
Unpowered grass site
Liked Very clean facilities, beautiful countryside.
Disliked We chose this site as it advertised as quiet camping with no groups, but there were 2 large and extremely loud groups playing bassy amplified music until 3am Sunday morning, one of which were openly using drugs and were very rude when I asked them to turn the music off at 1am. Frankly a ridiculous experience that I have never had on any other campsite in my life. We had to sleep with earplugs in and could still hear the music. Not the romantic weekend we'd intended, If I wanted to attend a festival I'd have gone somewhere with a better DJ.
Sunday night was peaceful as the groups had left, but we won't be staying here again as it seems this could easily happen and the elderly couple who own the site aren't capable of policing it. A shame really as the area is beautiful and there is a lot of historical interest especially if you're into canals, railways or steam power.
Campsite is quite sloping, obviously this isn't a fixable issue but if you're bothered about not waking up at the bottom of your tent this isn't the spot for you, the flat bits are taken up by permanent caravans.

From the manager: I'm sorry that you had that experience on our campsite.
Noisy groups on our site are very uncommon which is reflected in our other reviews but unfortunately on this occasion they slipped through the net and started misbehaving after midnight when we were in bed.
The group in question have been banned and won't be coming back.
Our policy is no groups of more than 6 adults, but we are considering lowering this for future bookings.

Lovely campsite

Liked Everything about this campsite, the views were breathtaking, the owners we're friendly and welcoming. It's a short walk to Whatstandwell train station and the canal, which was a lovely walk. (Though the walk along the rd to the train station has no pavements.)
Disliked Nothing

Liked The beautiful valley
Disliked Our recent stay was this weekend 1st of August and rules about late night noise were not followed, a large party in the middle of the field playing loud music until the early hours of the morning. We were sleeping in a tent and the noise was unbelievable

Liked Great quiet spot with amazing views! The toilet and shower block were immaculate and cleaned/refreshed throughout the day, as was the pot wash area.
Owners were friendly and helpful, pointing out the flattest area of the field as we were in a roof tent.

Unpowered grass site
Liked Toilets very clean, plenty of toilet paper, field is nice size was quite busy when me and my partner stayed, showers where okay, no shower curtain and it does get really wet in there, woman we met on arrival was lovely
Disliked Nothing about the campsite itself just that it was quite busy and there was a lot of feral kids running about even past 10pm and when the torches came out was shining it on people's camps
