Great value for money
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Here the views are very nice. We enjoyed having a fire pit and being able to take three dogs and have a gazebo. It was good to be immersed in nature and the site was lovely and quiet even when it got busier. This site is great value for money.
Disliked The grass was rather Long and the facilities are functional but quite basic and dated. The shower was hot however and they were clean. It would be handy to have a sign showing you where the Elsan point is.

We will be back!
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Great, back to basics campsite with welcoming owner.
Animals in the barns provided some light entertainment when washing up etc. Who doesn't love a goat?
Phenomenal views of Crich and the Ambergate Valley.
We walked from the site down to Wirksworth and then back along the HPT and Midshires, beer required after that last climb.
Disliked Nothing!
Be aware, this is a working farm so, yes, there can be animal noises.
Also, the field is slightly sloping but there's plenty of options to find a flat spot.

Primitive grass campsite
Liked This was a fantastic spot to camp and thoroughly enjoyed my stay , the slanting field isn't really a bother, we were happily greeted at the entrance too and facilities were basic but do everything you need them to do , wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and other campers very friendly
Disliked As expected being situated at a farm there are farmyard noises ,I could hear a peacock but never saw one this was fine but one cow out of the group just stood randomly mooing at the others for quite some time in the field behind possibly breeding season? Found myself mooing in response to myself.

Primitive grass campsite
Liked Loved everything about this site. Nice welcome, facilities basic but spotlessly clean and more than adequate - come on; you're on a (very hard) working farm ...you can't expect bidets and bathrobes. Yes, it is on a gentle slope but with careful consideration on arrival, there's plenty of good pitches. Seems to attract decent outdoors people (apart from one miserable cow next to me 😆)
Views over towards Crich are a good attraction. Abundant wildlife.
I was pitched and relaxing for a few hours when i realized i'd been here before ...Whatstandwell Festival 2012 !!!
Surrounding walks lead directly from farmhouse. Only excursion (drive) i did was to Lea Gardens ...a good few miles but well worth it.
Disliked Having to leave ...

Primitive grass campsite
Liked Lovely site. Basic but nice clean toilets & showers. Plenty of space. Good views. Whatstandwell station a short walk away for a trip into Matlock Bath
Disliked Not an issue for me but on a slope if that’s an issue for you

A much recommended campsite.
Primitive grass campsite
Liked A fabulous campsite. Large space so never feel like your on top of other campers. Felt safe as a solo female camper. Clean toilets and electric showers available, as well as a washing up area. Really easy to find and a peaceful site. Horses and cows on the farm and beautiful views. Walked to Cromford along the canal, really good location. 2nd time I've visited and it wont be the last.
Disliked Upon arrival, noone was at the check in table but sign said to book in at the house. I went to the house and rang the bell but no answer, ended up calling the number on my booking. Not really a negative, but made me slightly uncomfortable waiting at the door.
