Hankin Farm Campsite

Μου άρεσε Gorgeous area, views were outstanding and footpaths through the farm towards black rocks.

Lovely big field could camp where you pleased

Washing up area was the best I've seen for a long time- washing liquid and sponges available and refreshed daily (although we had our own but handy if you'd forgotten) toilets clean and plentiful and gender separated showers.


I would love to come again and will be looking at booking next year hopefully.

Δεν μου άρεσε Unfortunately despite the size of the field, two groups disturbed the peace as sound definitely travels on this site.

There was a group of lads however they did not disturb me personally- it was the large group of mixed couples and children that disturbed me and my children who we had the misfortune of camping near. They were swearing constantly and playing 'who can be a caterpillar??' with loud music blaring until gone 3am Sunday morning.

Not the owners fault just pure disrespectful campers who treated the field like they were the only ones there.

We're sorry that you were also affected by the large group on the site, we have taken action to identify and ban the groups involved in causing the noise and we have taken action to lower the maximum group size drown to 4 adults per pitch.

We rarely have noise issues on site, most guests respect the rules and each other which is reflected in our reviews.

Δεν μου άρεσε We chose this site as it advertised as quiet camping with no groups, but there were 2 large and extremely loud groups playing bassy amplified music until 3am Sunday morning, one of which were openly using drugs and were very rude when I asked them to turn the music off at 1am. Frankly a ridiculous experience that I have never had on any other campsite in my life. We had to sleep with earplugs in and could still hear the music. Not the romantic weekend we'd intended, If I wanted to attend a festival I'd have gone somewhere with a better DJ.

Sunday night was peaceful as the groups had left, but we won't be staying here again as it seems this could easily happen and the elderly couple who own the site aren't capable of policing it. A shame really as the area is beautiful and there is a lot of historical interest especially if you're into canals, railways or steam power.

Campsite is quite sloping, obviously this isn't a fixable issue but if you're bothered about not waking up at the bottom of your tent this isn't the spot for you, the flat bits are taken up by permanent caravans.

Noisy groups on our site are very uncommon which is reflected in our other reviews but unfortunately on this occasion they slipped through the net and started misbehaving after midnight when we were in bed.
The group in question have been banned and won't be coming back.
Our policy is no groups of more than 6 adults, but we are considering lowering this for future bookings.

We have identified the group and have banned then from visiting the site again.

Μου άρεσε This is a simple farm campsite with male & female toilets and showers, drinking water and a washing up area. Just what I needed for an affordable night's stay before a day in the Peaks. Pitches are non electric. Very family friendly and it was good to see kids getting outdoors and playing in the woods. Ground is a bit slopey so if in a tent it is worth choosing your pitch wisely. Toilets and showers were clean and working, but older design so bring a dry bag to keep your towel and clothes in when showering!

Μου άρεσε Liked the rustic feel of the campsite. The provision and use of the campsite kitchen with its couches and items to purchase were an added bonus. Liz also has available blankets for those cold nights under canvas. It's was nice to see the calves in the next field as well as the turkeys running freely around the campsite.

Μου άρεσε Everything about this campsite, the views were breathtaking, the owners we're friendly and welcoming. It's a short walk to Whatstandwell train station and the canal, which was a lovely walk. (Though the walk along the rd to the train station has no pavements.)

Μου άρεσε The owners were lovely and very helpful. There was plenty of space for our pitch, and the site was quiet at night.

The showers and washing up areas were all clean and well maintained

Δεν μου άρεσε Our recent stay was this weekend 1st of August and rules about late night noise were not followed, a large party in the middle of the field playing loud music until the early hours of the morning. We were sleeping in a tent and the noise was unbelievable
