  • Adults-only site in the Peak District, 10 minutes’ drive from Bakewell
  • Chatsworth House 10 minutes’ drive; Bamford Edge hikes 25 minutes
  • Serviced dog-friendly pitches a five-minute walk from village pubs
When only the spectacular trails of the Peak District National Park can satisfy your hiking ambitions, Church Lane Farm Touring, in rural Derbyshire, makes for a pretty convenient base. This well-maintained caravan park on the outskirts of the village of Great Longstone is remarkably peaceful – not least because it’s an adults-only site (and possibly also because you can count the number of pitches on the fingers of one hand). Although children are not allowed, dogs are welcome, and they will probably be wagging their tails at the mere suggestion of walks on the Longstone Moor (five minutes’ drive), at Curbar Edge (10 minutes) or around the woodland of National Trust Padley Gorge (15 minutes). Pitches have water, electric and drainage hook-ups, and there are picnic tables on site. And another excellent thing about Church Lane Farm Touring? The fact that it’s within walking distance (literally five minutes) from a couple of traditional village pubs serving real ales and home-cooked meals. Great Longstone also has a village shop, while the local farm has installed a vending machine that dispenses fresh pasteurised milk, eggs and a small selection of meats (bacon, sausages and burgers); for anything else, Bakewell is a 10-minute drive away.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Everything.
Peace and quiet was great, local walks were great.
Went into the White Lion on Friday night for a drink, most welcome.
Even with all 5 pitches occupied it was still very pleasant with everyone respecting each other, rare nowadays.
We will be going back there.
There seem to be great bike routes both on road and off road as well as for walking. Longstone Edge is within walking distance so plenty to see.
I like the absence of facilities (Having said that, there is water and power at each pitch and a good chemical disposal point) because it then attracts a different breed of campers.
No light pollution so good night sky views.
Lack of WiFi does not pose any problem whatsoever, we all have phones don't we!

Disliked Nothing

Liked Everything! Location, flat spots, perfectly kept, quiet, lovely village a few mins walk away, countryside walks and beautiful views. Oh, did I mention the two pubs! 5 mins walk away. Friendly owners, no hassle.

Disliked Nothing. Just wish we had planned to stay longer but we will be back.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked So peacfull and great scenery. Loved chatting with the locals as they walked by on the footpath next to the site. Will definately be back here again.

Disliked Nothing really but noted no toilet facilities, (which is stated in the advertisment), and other than a pair of constantly barking doge on our neighboring pitch on the last day, (not cam site fault), it was great.

Liked Lovely peaceful site with very friendly owner. Nice walk across the adjoining field and through a small wooded area to reach Brougham Hall. (Had to lift the dog over the first stile which was tricky). The coffee shop there is really good and very dog friendly.

Liked Very clean open site with just water electric waste bins and toilet disposal. Did not see owners. So just basic site in a well kept space

Disliked It was £30 per night which was expensive for basic site. Felt very aggrieved having to pay £10 per night per dog😡. They are two little Morkies and I really don’t know what we paid for!!!! No designated dog walk!! The owners did not visit so unable to complain about paying so much for dogs😡😡😡

From the manager: Good afternoon Hilary
I would just like to correct you on a few points
Dogs are £5 per night not £10 and that helps to pay me to pick up dog mess that some dog owners do not
There are countless dog walks straight out of the site, either in to the village or the beautiful countryside
And we as the owners do not feel we have to greet every guest, we call in or pass the site numerous times a day and the farm is 100 meters down the road should you have a problem
Thanks Dan

Liked A gem of a site with large hardstanding and grass pitches. Fabulous views and walks in every direction. If you enjoy walking its an hour to Bakewell or take the circular walk to Monsal Head, Ashford in the Water and back up to Great Longston. 2 pubs only a 5 minute walk from site and another 2 within 20 minutes walk. It was lovely to buy fresh milk from the vending machine at the farm and the eggs were great too.
