Good place to tent not caravan

Aug 2026

Liked The staff were friendly and helpful. The pitch we were allocated was enormous and we were very happy with that!

Disliked Although on pitch up it says twin axles accepted, I would be cautious bringing a large caravan to this particular site as the roads aren’t designed for it.. and we were faced with tricky situations several times on exiting. The shower block I felt needs abit more tlc.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We would like to kindly clarify a few points about our site. We are a non-commercial site situated in the beautiful countryside, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Our site used to be a working farm, which meant larger vehicles like articulated lorries were here before, but unlike motorway service areas, we don’t have a motorway entrance—it’s peaceful countryside, and we believe our location is part of the charm that many of our visitors appreciate. Regarding your comments about driving and the roads, you chose to visit our site knowing its rural setting. We were surprised by the low score on location since we strive to provide a unique countryside experience. We would also like to mention that we have never supplied WiFi and do not plan to, as we aim to offer a genuine camping experience that allows our guests to unwind and connect with nature. It is good to hear you found the pitch large enough to accommodate your caravan safely. We are sorry about the weather while you were with us—showers and toilets are cleaned three times a day to maintain hygiene standards. Thank you once again for your comments; we’ll consider them carefully as we continue to improve the experience for all our visitors. so dissappointed on such a low score for things totally out of oour control

Welcoming and well kept site

Aug 2026

Liked Staff were very friendly at Pennine View. It was also very well kept, our pitch was big enough for our car, awning and caravan and we still had plenty of room around us. The toilets/showers are probably one of the cleanest we have been to and that is very important to us so that was a very pleasant experience. The Engine Shed is a great addition that caters for everyone.

Disliked Plenty of things to do but you did need to drive a good 40 minutes away from Kirby Stephen and there wasn’t a great deal going on there..

Stratford Parks is a lovely, well kept site.

May 2026

Liked The location was lovely, far enough away from the town centre but close enough to walk, cycle or drive in. The toilets/showers were clean and tidy and plenty of them. The restaurant and bar area was big and could accommodate plenty of people. We had breakfast there one morning and it was very chilled. Staff were very welcoming.

Disliked The pitches weren’t marked out very well BUT we were shown where it was by a member of staff in a buggy which we always like to see. My son wasn’t able to kick the ball about on our pitch, I understand that it can be dangerous at times with a ball flying about but with sensible parents this shouldn’t be an issue.

A good site to stay in if you want to visit points of interest

Feb 2026

Liked Location was ideal for us

Disliked Would have liked it if we were closer to the shower block but perhaps the size of our caravan didn’t allow us to be closer. We had a grass pitch and because we had had so much rain the mud just got everywhere

The site was perfect and really relaxing. We will be returning.

Liked This is a well kept site with plenty of toilets and shower cubicles. On arrival, in reception we were given a leaflet which I thought was perfect as it outlined all the information regarding local amenities etc.. we were then shown to our bitch by a gentleman on a golf buggy.. we were thankful we didn’t have to worry about trying to find our pitch!! Ross town centre is a short 10-15min walk (leisurely pace for a young family). Morrisons is literally a stone throw and even Aldi and Sainsbury’s are a little further. We also saw a co-op, so really spoilt for choice. Wasn’t overly busy when we stayed which was last week for 6nights. I was sad to leave as we had a great experience here.

Disliked The only thing I can say is I would have preferred for the shower to have abit more pressure coming through but that’s personal preference.
