Imagine drifting past weeping willows, verdant banks and genteel swans in your own private river taxi, before stepping off in the centre of stunning Stratford-upon-Avon only a mile away. If this sounds like the kind of thing dreams are made of, take a look at Stratford Parks Holiday Park, a peaceful and plant-filled site on the River Avon in the Warwickshire countryside. The park's Riverside Venue Bar and Restaurant has a delicious variety of food and drink, as well as events throughout the high season and on some weekends. There's a multi-sports pitch on site for family games and over a mile and half of free river fishing for those who want to spend a peaceful afternoon on the river banks. A daily river taxi service also runs from Stratford Parks Holiday Park to Stratford-upon-Avon, where there are Shakespeare attractions and lots of places to eat or shop. Arriving with a furry companion? There are also designated dog-walking areas on site.

Liked: Great location. Very good reception team. Beautiful clean site with lovely bar/ sports tv / restaurant area. Great river taxi to Stratford.

Disliked: Rivrt taxi cash only and the bars and restaurants won't give cashback and there is no cashmachine. No hot water in the washroom sinks and the Floor always flooded combination code on bathroom door at night and no light to see by. 'Glamping pods' they are not glampingpods. Such small shedlike pods, you really cannot swing a cat if one wanted too.no real bed for adults fold down uncomfortable sofa bed. No shelves hooks or cupboards. We would def go again cos we can tolerate the bad , because it is such a fantastic location.

Disliked: It was like being pitched next to forestry when cutting trees down from 8.40 until 4.30 the weekend we stayed there was shredder and chainsaws going it was unbearable could not even sit outside atrocious and I was so looking forward to this trip thank you

Liked: Everything! From the moment we arrived I could tell this site was different to the others we had visited on our trip. First the wardens, were absolutely first class. Paul and Mark were both lovely. We entered the park to be told we were leaking fuel and they were so helpful and kind. We couldn’t get off our pitch at the check out time as we were waiting for recovery and not once were made to feel like we were a bother. The clubhouse is lovely and serves good food and a very reasonable price. John who does the river taxi to Stratford was also very lovely. The facilities were immaculate as was the park. I love this park!!

Disliked: Not a thing!!

Liked: Loved are recent stay at Stratford parks holiday park. Plenty of room/space. Staff very welcoming and polite Facilities great and very clean. We had a spot by the canal, and the pub/restaurant just a 3 minute walk away. Great place and great food.

Liked: Riverside location. River taxi to town. Easy check-in. Spacious and level pitch.

Disliked: Very stark. Everything in rows, no barriers between pitches. No character. No shade. Restaurant was pub grub, very ordinary quality.

Liked: Great location. Very friendly helpful staff. Although a bit dated the toilet block was extremely clean. Water taxi reasonably priced, so convenient and as good as a boat trip. The boatmen have so much knowledge.

Local attractions

For a change from the river taxi, guests can stroll into Stratford-upon-Avon to take in a play from the Royal Shakespeare Company, have a flutter at the races, or visit the many Shakespeare sights dotted around the city. There’s also excellent retail therapy to be had here, as well as in the elegant surrounding towns of Cheltenham, Royal Leamington Spa and Warwick.  Sporty types will find golf courses, swimming pools and many other facilities nearby, and of course there are plenty of good walking opportunities along the river and out into the lovely Warwickshire countryside. Further along the banks of the Avon are the stately country house of Charlecote Park, and winsome Warwick Castle, which has plenty of things to do and see for all ages. Also nearby are the majestic ruins of Kenilworth Castle, where Robert Dudley and Elizabeth I used to make out; or you could follow in the footsteps of the Gunpowder Plotters of 1605 with a visit to Coughton Court. At the Ragley Hall Estate, visitors can take a tour of the Palladian mansion, go sculpture spotting in the Capability Brown parkland, or lose themselves in the 3D maze. The site is also a great base from which to explore the villages and landscapes of the Cotswolds.
