Let down by filthy facilities!

Aug 2026

Liked I would love to be more positive about this site because it has good potential! We stopped in middle of the school holidays for a late booking due to a cancellation elsewhere. The site was busy at the weekend but during the week it was empty apart from a maybe 2 other campers, I think this might be down to issues below! The site is part of the pub. So on our first night we headed in for a drink. Staff seem friendly enough however it was quiet when we went in. Apparently the night before they had a massive party.

Disliked This is where positives end! The facilities are shocking! They are filthy! They were never cleaned while we were on site other than a filthy mop left out side the shower. Regularly no toilet roll in the loos. Frustratingly we are not only person in reviews to have reported this and it doesn’t seem the owners address it. They are the kind of facilities I would find at a festival! For the price we paid I expect a lot better. To be honest it’s way overpriced and probably why it was the only site we could find in the area for the weekend. We also found the water taps were been taken over by the resident caravans on site as well. The spacing between pitches is very close as well. When we arrived we were shoe horned in between some campers and a motorhome. It was OK following day as both left. We never got to eat in the pub. The chef was hungover apparently on the Saturday night.

Lovely location but let down by poor facilities

Apr 2026

Liked I want to try keep positive. This is a lovely site its location is gorgeous and its an amazing location for walks, cycling and trips out to Bakewell and Buxton. We visited Easter weekend for a busy site it was very quiet. We stay in a caravan but couldn't help notice because of the large open spaces there was plenty room to sprawl out. There is also the added bonus of onsite food vans. We didn't use them as they did seem quite expensive. There is great potential for this site!

Disliked On a more negative the facilities on this site are poor for its size they don't seem to handle the number of people on the site for a busy weekend. The electric hookups are 6amp which is not a lot! We found we tripped the power numerous times we seem to be unable to power more than one high power item at a time. For example if you have the heating on you can't use a kettle! Next the water pressure was shocking! It seem to take an age to fill an aqua roll and this seem to have a negative impact on the showers. On one morning there was no hot water at all in the showers. Lastly when we went to use the Chemical point it was clearly full and over flowing. I appreciate this is a working farm however some of the hardstands sit next to a cow shed. They mucked the shed out late at night and the smell behind the shed could become pungent! Our other party had a hard stand above the shed and it was far less noticeable. So i recommend avoiding pitching behind the shed!

From the manager: Thanks very much for your review and for staying with us over the Easter weekend — we’re really pleased to hear you enjoyed the setting, space, and peaceful atmosphere, even during a busy period. It’s great to know the location and access to walks around Bakewell and Buxton made your stay a good one We do really appreciate your feedback on the facilities, especially over a peak weekend when the site is at its busiest. We’re currently in the middle of a major upgrade, including a brand-new electric supply which will be fully operational within the next month. This will significantly improve the reliability and capacity of our hookups across the site. We’re also relocating and improving parts of the site layout, including moving some areas further away from the farm buildings to enhance the overall guest experience. In the meantime, our hookups are 6 amp, which are designed for lighter use, and we recommend using appliances one at a time to avoid tripping — we’ll make sure this is clearer for guests before arrival. Regarding the hot water, we did experience a temporary boiler fault on the Sunday morning which caused a short interruption. This was reset within around 30 minutes and service was restored quickly, but we appreciate this would have been frustrating at the time and we’re keeping a close eye on the system. We’re also sorry to hear the water pressure didn’t meet your expectations. Feedback from many guests has been very positive, but we are already in the process of upgrading to a new pumped system ahead of the May bank holiday, which will ensure consistently strong pressure across the site going forward. The chemical disposal point is checked regularly, but we’ll increase monitoring during busy periods to ensure it remains in good order. As a working farm, there are times when essential jobs like mucking out need to be carried out, but we do try to be mindful of timings and guest experience wherever possible. Thanks again for your comments — it’s really helpful feedback as we continue to improve, and we do hope to welcome you back in the future. Ed, Amy & family

Great site for walkers and cyclists

Apr 2025

Liked Lovely site which is nice and quiet. The pitches are quite big and nicely spaced out and great if you own a basecamp! The toilets were clean and modern. I was un decided if the pitch was a bit pricey but given they include an awning it seems a fair price. The site is ideal for anyone who likes walking and cycling. The site backs onto a trail which heads all way way to Morecome and Lancaster. Not much for kids to do, so seems a great spot for adults. Also not too far a walk from a decent pub. We had no interaction with the owners other than a text. However did respond to questions.

Disliked The lane is riddled with pot holes and half of it is gravel as you arrive onto site. I have low profiles so had to crawl at snail pace down the lane to the site. Make sure you do not follow sat nav, it will try to take you down unsuitable narrow lanes to site. Follow the A6 to Lancaster and come back on yourself to stay on A roads.

Amazing experience for first timers at a naturist site

Sept 2024

Liked We were travelling in the area and decided to try this site out as it was on our radar for a while, this was our first time at a naturist site. We had a fabulous time! Everyone on the site including the residents were so nice, everyone very welcoming and easy to approach and chat. We were also lucky with the weather managing to catch the last few days of hot September weather. The disco on Saturday night was quite the experience we loved it. If you want to switch off this also a great site. Little to no phone signal, it's quite rural so expect a long drive to any supermarkets. Some area's probably need a freshen up. However all facilities were spotless. Can't wait to visit again!

Disliked Our only gripe were the flys! Can't be helped I guess as the site sits on a river.

Lovely clean site. We used this…

Sept 2024

Liked Lovely clean site. We used this as a stop over to break up our journey heading north to south which immediately off the A17. The added benefit of a toilet is nice for a CL however I just thought they were missing an opportunity to add a shower within the shed used for the toilet. The site is also shared by a small aviation museum.
