  • Friendly family-oriented naturist club 20 minutes' drive from Wisbech
  • Two pools, sauna and large heated clubhouse
  • 18-hole putting green, shuffleboard and pétanque
Croft Country Club has been established as a family-friendly "naturist" site for over 30 years and is set in 13 acres of landscaped gardens at a peaceful rural spot on the Norfolk/Cambridgeshire border. Whether you are a seasoned naturist or a newcomer, there is plenty to do while enjoying the freedom of being naked in safe surroundings. Settle in here and it’s likely you’ll not be in much of a hurry to head out again, such is the lengthy list of leisure facilities to keep you entertained on site. In addition to the outdoor and indoor swimming pools, there is a sauna and hot tub, and more sporty visitors can play mini-ten, pétanque, shuffleboard and table tennis, or perfect their aim on the 18-hole putting green. Other undercover facilities include a games room, TV room and a clubhouse with plenty of seating, plus a dance floor for weekly discos and regular live entertainment nights (some of which are chargeable). Guests are welcome to use the small kitchen area (with microwave, fridge and freezer) or the communal barbecue. There are farm shops and supermarkets 20 minutes’ drive away, and a cracking collection of country pubs within 15 minutes’ drive. If you do decide to venture out, the site is well-placed for touring Sandringham, Cambridge, Ely, Kings Lynn and the North Norfolk coast (including Holkham naturist beach). For visitors driving from Europe, we are only 1.75 hours from Felixstowe, two hours from Harwich and three hours from Dover.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Although only an end of season brief stay, I was met by JJ at the gate, was directed to a superb pitch in between the club house & pools etc and shower block and given a tour of the site (which was bigger than I expected). The toilets and showers were spotless, ample facilities and you could even dry your towels for a couple of quid! Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and I look forward to visiting again in the spring. 5 star stay! Thank you, Cliff

Liked: We were travelling in the area and decided to try this site out as it was on our radar for a while, this was our first time at a naturist site. We had a fabulous time! Everyone on the site including the residents were so nice, everyone very welcoming and easy to approach and chat. We were also lucky with the weather managing to catch the last few days of hot September weather. The disco on Saturday night was quite the experience we loved it. If you want to switch off this also a great site. Little to no phone signal, it's quite rural so expect a long drive to any supermarkets. Some area's probably need a freshen up. However all facilities were spotless. Can't wait to visit again!

Disliked: Our only gripe were the flys! Can't be helped I guess as the site sits on a river.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: We've been here a few times now, it's a very friendly club in a beautiful setting. Two swimming pools, the indoor one is deliciously warm and the outdoor pool perfect to cool off in on a hot day. Although we didn't take our pup on this occasion we have before and dogs are welcome but need to be kept on a lead, however there's a dog walking exercise area just off the site which is ideal. Love the pitch & putt as it's a lovely shady area, other games available too. Ice creams and hot drinks available in the clubhouse - and ice cubes to top up your fridge are a nice touch! The site is well managed and the showers and toilets are communal and always immaculate. There's plenty of room and it's not overfull, great for relaxing. We truly feel at ease here and it's an ideal place for anyone who wants to try the naturist experience for the first time.

Liked: Our second visit in under a month. This site had been on a radar for well over a year and when the stars finally aligned we were able to enjoy four glorious days/nights at this wonderful gem, tucked away in rural Cambridgeshire. John made us feel welcome from the outset and gave us a quick tour on the buggy, before we pitched up on the lower field. The facilities here are great and I'm not just talking about the toilet and shower blocks. The pools are a big attraction for us, but you've also got petanque and putting. Plenty to keep you occupied even when you want a lazy day! Members with seasonal pitches made us feel very welcome too. We chatted to so many people, they really did leave us with the feeling we wanted to go back - and soon.

Liked: If your first time naturist you couldn’t do better. Friendly people, great facilities and the site is kept in pristine condition. Toilets and showers outstanding. JJ was an amazing host and the Saturday evening disco was the best fun we have had at a site of any kind. We will be returning at some point. Amazing place.

From the B1099/A1101: Croft Country Club is about half a mile from the junction of the A1101 and the B1094 (Halfpenny Toll Road). Two signs saying 'Greenend' and 'Croft' are situated at the top of the lane leading to the park (at this point most satnavs say you are heading into the middle of a field, as the lane 'Greenend' is not shown on most maps).

Local attractions

Robe up again and get ready to roam – there’s much to do in the surrounds. If you’ve come this way for great gulps of fresh air, might you be tempted by days of horse riding (10 minutes’ drive away in Outwell), fishing at Townsend Lakes (five minutes) or birdwatching at the Welney WWT Centre (25 minutes)? Bike rides are always an excellent idea in this forgivingly flat part of the land, as are walks along the Old Croft river next to the site (a particular source of excitement if you happen to be a dog). Whizz off to Wisbech in 20 minutes or so, not just for shops and restaurants but also for a potter around the National Trust-managed Peckover House, a tour of Elgood's Brewery and a flying display at Fens Falconry. Just outside town, Fenland and West Norfolk Aviation Museum (25 minutes) showcases a different form of flight for folk fascinated by planes. Outings a little further away might include a trip to the handsome cathedral in Ely (30 minutes), a jaunt to wave at the Queen at the Sandringham Estate (40 minutes) and a day at one of Norfolk’s gorgeous beaches – head to Holkham, an hour away, for a naturist stretch of sand.
