Liked We liked the location, as we could walk to the local restaurants. Good shop and bar Very helpful staff

Disliked A bit untidy/unkept in areas. Although new toilet/shower blocks the showers were very small and underpowered. Lots of flies/bugs in the shower areas too. Unfortunately we were next door to the playground so quite noisy at times.

Liked Location was beautiful. Pool was good size and enjoyed by our teenagers. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Grounds neat and tidy, good sized plot. Clean facilities although dated.

Disliked No toilet roll and would be good to have the bar/cafe doing food even if just snacks. As no where within walking distance to buy food.

Liked Very helpful and accommodating staff. Basic, modern and clean facilities. Great location only a couple of minutes drive to Stow in the Wold. Quiet site, would visit again.

Disliked Sloping pitches, didn’t really affect us as we had an electric pitch at the top of the site with a small tent but I could see it might be more tricky for some people especially if wet.

Liked The accommodation was very cute and more spacious inside than we thought it may have been. Location of bell tent was out the way but within easy reach of toilets. Really friendly people on site to help with anything. My boy really loved the campfire and helped to cook us dinner.

Disliked The showers were on the other side of the site across a road but we were aware of this apon booking

Liked Neat, clean and tidy site in a pretty location with the river behind our pitch. The site was quiet with everyone observing the 10pm to 8am minimal noise rule. Although you can hear the road noise 24/7. The shower rooms were very practical, with a large shower, toilet and sink in each room, great for families as generously sized. The adjoining pub had very helpful and friendly staff. We had our children’s birthday meal there and a breakfast, both times the meals were delicious, although service was quite slow.

Disliked The site had a barrier to allow only campers to access it, unfortunately it also had a height barrier which we could not fit underneath with our campervan. Each time we wanted to leave or enter the site we had to either wait for the site manager, who worked 1pm-7pm 5 days a week, or call the pub for a member of staff to open the height barrier. We were unable to leave before 9am and had to return before 10pm (as this was the pubs opening times) which we found very restrictive. The showers were warm at best and sometimes just had cold water running. When asking the site manger about this she simply said have a shower in the morning when no one else has had one! We explained that if we had been out all day then we didn’t want to go to bed dirty. She replied there was nothing she could do about it. Although the general site was neat and tidy the shower rooms were not cleaned very well. They were shut between 11am and 12pm everyday. I went in to use the toilet at 12.10pm and the cleaners were just finishing, but the toilet I went to use was still dirty. I also noticed there was excrement smeared on the side of one of the sinks for 2 consecutive days. When booking I was asked to provide details of what we were staying in. I said we were bringing our campervan plus a 5mx5m awning, our allocated pitch was quite small meaning we were very close to our neighbour’s tent. Some of the other pitches were much larger which would have been much better for us.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. Firstly, I'd like to point out that the site manager starts work at 06h00/06h30 every day to give the shower block its first clean of the day and is on site all day, to open the barrier until 19h00. The fact we have a height barrier which has to be opened by a member of staff is clearly mentioned on pitchup, as are the pitch sizes. Secondly, you are not restricted to leaving after 09h00. It is clearly explained on the information sheet you were given, and you could have asked for clarification had you wished. Thirdly, I'm sorry the water wasn't hot enough for you, but as I explained, the hot water tank has a finite capacity and has to heat water as it is used. And finally, why on earth do you think that excrement would be smeared on the sink? Did you not consider any other possibility such as mud? Honestly! I don't accept that the cleaners would have left excrement smeared anywhere or that immediately after cleaning, a toilet would have been dirty.
