Holme Pierrepont Country Park

Me gustó Tidy, quiet and well maintained. Excellent facilities. Close to walking / cycle routes and walking distance from the city centre. I also appreciate that they proactively notified customers about issues at the park.

No me gustó The cost, £30 seems a bit too much per night for a grass pitch with no electric hookup. I’ve stayed at similar sites for a third of that. Worth it as a cheaper alternative to a hotel if you are visiting the city or water sports centre for a night or two but I wouldn’t stay longer at that price.

Me gustó The staff in the reception in the day were really nice, but the people your letting on the site, ie travellers were pretty discusting to be honest and more should of been to done to remove them, one poor bloke had his tent broke by their kids and 2 filled nappies were just left on the floor, they totally ruined the stay won’t be stopping again

Me gustó Hard to comment as we did not stay.

No me gustó We were informed two days before our arrival date that there was an unauthorised encampment. We had booked a pod for one night, I tried to contact the site but was never able to speak to anyone. I left a message with my phone number for them to contact me, unfortunately they never did.
We were coming for two days kayaking on the ww course. We went into the camp site on route to the course to find out what the situation was, unfortunately no member of staff was on site and noticed the encampment was right behind the pods. I phoned the mobile number I was given with the instructions on how to get access to the camp. The member of staff was very understanding when I asked for reassurance on the situation. He said he would contact the campsite manager to meet us and discuss the situation. 3 minutes later he phoned me back and told me the manager was on there lunch break and would not be available for an hour.
We made the decision no to stay the night and informed the member of staff on the phone. He gave me an email address to send for a refund but still awaiting a reply.

At the time, she was dealing with the legal process and working closely with the relevant authorities to have the unauthorised encampment removed, which unfortunately meant she was unavailable to meet with you personally.

We're pleased to confirm that the encampment has now been removed. We appreciate that this situation impacted your plans, and we're sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment it caused.

Regarding your refund request, we have not received any emails from you after our initial email advising you of the situation. If you could please email us again, we'll be happy to look into this for you as soon as possible.

Me gustó The site is spacious and well laid out. The EHU and water service points are excellent. Access to cycle paths is easy.

No me gustó The shower/toilet blocks were poorly cleaned. In one block, small children were rampaging unsupervised and excrement had been smeared on the walls and floor. In the portacabin style blocks, the showers required continuous pressing of the button to stay on, making showering difficult and unpleasant.
Reception unmanned.

Me gustó On arrival we couldn’t get in as barrier wouldn’t open then rung and was let was told i would have gotten a email (didn’t know) was told where our pitch was but there was a group of people on our pitch phoned again and then was told a different number.. but the group was on that pitch too.. so we was on a corner of a field but asked if I could park anywhere was told md7 but group was on it.. just parked nexted to it.. toilets was great either way..

No me gustó There didn't appear to be any security, at one point there were cars being raced around the site while children were playing nearby.
The showers and toilet block were very dirty.
Staff were quite rude and unhelpful

Me gustó Ideal for what we needed, the camp site was superb. Free showers, good clean toilet facilities, clear sign posted parking, electrical hook up and a very clean site overall.
Walking distance to local cafe for breakfast, reasonable priced distance by taxi to city centre.

Me gustó The staff were very helpful and friendly, the site was excellently located, and very convenient for the NWSC. The deluxe pod that I ended up staying in was perfect.

No me gustó The weekend was ruined by the travellers based all over the campsite, with groups of children walking into pods, tents, and creating mayhem in the toilets, to include blocking sinks, leaving tissue and makeup stains everywhere (these kids were under 12), and trapping at least two women inside cubicles and not letting them out. Although I had booked a tent pitch, I ended up sharing a pod as there was a space (the pod was fab!) - thank goodness I did as my colleague, who had the tent pitch next to mine, had his tent completely destroyed by the gang of children.
I felt so sorry for the other families staying on the site who were shepherding their children around, and basically circling the wagons to create a safe space, particularly necessary as two of the traveller cars decided to race each other round the site on Saturday evening.
