National Water Sports Centre: Exterior view

General

  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids

What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the National Water Sports Centre near Nottingham are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; a waterpark with cableway for wakeboarding; paddleboarding, open-top canoeing, turbo paddling and open-water swimming.

But! This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, Segway hire, play area and mini e-combat, as well as a footgolf course. An assault course, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception).

Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots is on offer too to keep the kids amused, including outdoor table tennis, a volleyball/badminton court, a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail a short stroll away.

Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling groceries and camping supplies.

Please note

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, customers can amend their dates with the campsite/holiday park free of charge for all stays up to, and including, Thursday 31 December 2020.

All onsite food and drink establishments are closed due to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus outbreak.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The toilet facilities are closed until Monday 17 May 2021. Guests will need to use their own facilities.

There is a height barrier operating between 8pm and 8am. That means you cannot leave or arrive between those hours with a campervan which is inconvenient and restrictive.

We really enjoyed this campsite. There is loads to do with the children at the water sports centre which is a 10 minute walk from the campsite. The site itself is well laid out and the pitches are very spacious. We had a few problems with our van when we arrived and the staff were very friendly and helpful and found us a local caravan mechanic to come out to help us. We would definitely return.
