Adventure play park

  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids
What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the Holme Pierrepont Country Park, near Nottingham are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; paddleboarding, open-top canoeing and the inflatable assault course Wipe Out. But! This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, a mini four-wheel drive course for kids, a kids' activity club and archery combat. A large play park, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception; early booking is advisable). Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots is on offer too to keep the kids amused, including a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail a short stroll away. Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes' drive from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling selected groceries and camping supplies.

Liked The weather was fantastic !

Disliked The shower and toilet blocks are dismal. There was 2 pot washing areas for a massive site, which one of them got closed down !
The site shop is either shut or had the cleaner trying to man it as the staff didn’t turn up. But to be fair you’re best off driving 10 mins to home bargains as it lacks anything you will need.
There is no security or site staff, it was 1.30 one night before we could get any sleep as there was a massive group with a fire pit that you’re not supposed to have.
The water park is a short walk but again there are all stalls and shops but only 1 open, it felt like closed season not the end of June.
There were building sand and stones on a disused pitch which was constantly covering everything!

Liked Flat large pitch size

Disliked Where to start…
Toilet/shower bock dirty over used smelly dark, how on earth they get away with one block for so many pitches/ people I don’t know
Staff rude and unhelpful, no information on the water sports opposite site yet huge banner advertising outside reception didn’t even know what time open til
Electric pitches poor quality couldn’t even charge phones properly

Definitely would not recommend

Liked Pitch size and play park was fab. Good location for the water sports centre.

Disliked Toilets and showers were old and dirty. Never saw anyone cleaning them.
The onsite shop hardly sells anything useful, and was closed more than it was open.
The first night there was a large group on site, who were drinking and partying until gone 1.30am. This group also had a fire pit even though the site rules say no fire pits. Never saw anyone patrolling the site in the 3 days we were there, so if you're looking for a site that you can basically do what you want and nobody will be checking up on you then this is the place for you! I certainly won't be returning.

Liked All information provided by email on the morning of our stay to enter site and to pitch. Friendly atmosphere and no issues on site..lots of families having fun. Warm showers. Clean site and pitches, small shop on site. Contacted the site representative via phone to move from original pitch, our request was happily accommodated and he was very friendly, despite me calling three times. We enjoyed our stay.

Disliked Shower and toilet facilities are basic but adequate for a short stay. Could be updated/improved for a higher rating.
