General

  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids

What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the National Water Sports Centre near Nottingham are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; a waterpark with cableway for wakeboarding; paddleboarding, open-top canoeing, turbo paddling and open-water swimming.

But! This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, Segway hire, play area and mini e-combat, as well as a footgolf course. An assault course, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception).

Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots is on offer too to keep the kids amused, including outdoor table tennis, a volleyball/badminton court, a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail a short stroll away.

Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling groceries and camping supplies.

Please note

A cable measuring at least 25 metres is needed for the electric hook-ups.

Group bookings of 2 or more units (e.g. tent, touring caravan, motorhome or accommodation hire) travelling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Great site, lots of space, all services worked well (electric hook up) - the cleaning of the site and especially good, the children's play area was beyond impressive, great approach to keeping the facilities open during times of C19. Will definitely return soon.
Great communication, with prompt reply via email to a late check out request.
Excellent for cycling both as a family but also giving the children the freedom to roam the site (ages 8 & 10).

nice grass area to play ball games with the kids
    great area to walk around
a short walk along the trent into nottingham
    good shower facilities
great facilities that would have been available if not for covid 19

    Disliked:

Would have been 5 out of 5 but for a few bits that weren't really massive things.
there was no one in attendance ensuring people set up in the right place. i don't know if it was ignorance or lack of common sense but we arrived at our pitch to find the next unit had set up slap bang next to the power source - which was clearly meant to be half way between two pitches. this meant we had to be extremely close to them for the duration as they were half in our pitch but it subsequently meant those to our other side were close to us as well. maybe too close to be safe in terms of fire risk etc. plus felt a little cramped.
quite noisy at night - not sure if there was official quiet hours? but seemed to be no one on site who would police it anyway.
other than that a pleasant stay - a shame that the activities at the centre weren't available due to covid 19 restrictions.

Loved the site it was well set up and very large it was our first visit and first time away from our home, would defo visit again and recommend
The staff are friendly and couldn't help enough
Staff worked hard to try to keep the site clean and COVID free as best as could.
Lots of places within walking distance to be able to go out for walks, the lakes where amazing.
The village was within walking distance with shop and chip shop very close
Hand sanitizers outside shower blocks and big play area
All areas checked every hour it seemed and sprayed well done

    Disliked:

Not able to speak to anyone by phone its all emails
The only thing I really disliked is staff not wearing PPE correctly, walking around in their aprons & gloves to and from toilets and showers and did not change when did outside taps & children's area (some staff did this area after toilets) a little training would resolve this, was told the site had only just opened so all new to every one
Staff not issued visors to clean toilets or showers.
Management could do with doing just a little training on PPE.( not a criticism but run a Care Agency so just a little guidance to help)
The little children play area was very small and the bigger one far too big for under 5s to use but were cleaned

The site itself was very tidy and clean. The staff must have cleaned at least every hour everything, from toilets to the children's play area/park. This is of huge importance to us as well as so many others, to know the site staff are working hard to protect people from Covid-19.

Great site, easy access, great children's play area/Park. Facilities VERY clean.

    I will stay again.

    Many thanks

    Disliked:

Planes flying over can be quite loud, but my three year old was so tired from playing, she slept right through. So may not be an issue for many.

    Disliked:

Everything was lovely apart from a particular family who led us to have 3 hours sleep on the Saturday night due to shouting, swearing, fighting till 4am! Unfortunately wasn’t anyone on site to control this behaviour, police should have been called! Made us and other families leave very unhappy and some early so they didn’t have to put up with them!

Good spacing between pitches. Staff spraying clean all contact points including all the playground. (Max 10 children) Social distancing markers at toilets and ELSAN point. Good security, drive around regularly. Very quiet when we stayed as only those with own toilet facilities at first. Filling up with tents etc as we left now everything open.

    Disliked:

Staff we asked didn't know there is a drive over grey waste grid behind the small shop.
