  • Pet-friendly site on 235 acres of parkland in Northamptonshire
  • Half an hour's drive from Silverstone; Northampton 15 minutes
  • Fishing lakes, bars and restaurants
Activity and fishing centre Billing Aquadrome is just a couple of miles from Great Billing in Northamptonshire and set over 235 acres of green parkland and lakes. With so much to do around its grounds, it's likely that you'll want to stay put here for your entire trip… and if you do desire to speed off somewhere, Silverstone is only half an hour's drive away. The site has fishing lakes of varying sizes and depths where avid anglers can cast off for carp and common mirror carp, catfish, pike, roach, bream, tench and rudd. Bring along your own fishing kit and an up-to-date licence, and buy a fishing ticket from the team if you want to try your luck. Away from the water, the many other facilities include bars and restaurants (yes, plural, plus a beer garden). Just take note that the bar, beer garden and restaurant are all adults-only from 10pm. There is also a seasonal swimming pool on site. And speaking of the essentials, there are takeaways, a supermarket and shops right on site too, as well as picnic areas, Sky Sports and – if you need your barnet tamed after all that activity – a hairdresser's.

Field 1 powered grass tent campsite (family)

Liked Amazing site situated with plenty to do. We stayed Monday-Saturday and decided to extend an extra day due to wanting to do so much more which the kids loved!
The camping pitches filled up eventually across the weekend which was nice too and we were given a pitch located close to the toilet/shower blocks as asked which was helpful for the other party we were camping with. Mostly friendly staff very bubbly on arrival (Gareth) amazing with the kids really boosted their excitement with some freebies bubbles sweets water gun and overall very helpful. Toilets and showers were maintained on the family camping site other than the odd expected blocked toilet

Disliked Pitches and surrounding were pitch black with zero lighting at all guiding any walk way ect. We noticed we were pitched up out of the way from everyone else which was slightly off due to being unable to mix or mostly the kids mixing whereas others were pitched upon each other and created a nice atmosphere whilst we were tucked in the corner. Wasn’t a massive problem just found it odd more than anything. The cleaner is constantly on duty however found to be just sat on their phone in one of the pot wash rooms and was told to “use the other” even though the other was already in use which wasn’t very professional at all. A lot of the younger staff wasn’t very child friendly or smiley and didn’t seem like they were happy to be there or even help apart from the lovely lad on the train who interacted with the children and really made the train ride fun and exciting.
The inflatable on the lake wasn’t open due to loss of water which was understandable and out of their control but traveling as far as we did was a slight inconvenience as I don’t think we’d have booked it this time if we had known and even more upsetting as it was still up and out to see which kind of rubber it in a little and was hard for the younger to understand why they couldn’t take park.

From the manager: Thank you for such a detailed review. It sounds like you packed a lot into your Monday-to-Saturday stay and even decided to add another night because there was still more to do! That’s certainly one way to know you’re having a good time.

We’re really pleased to hear you enjoyed the site, the facilities and the range of activities, and that the camping facilities were well maintained during your stay. We’ll also make sure Gareth hears your lovely comments. It sounds like he certainly got the children excited from the moment you arrived with bubbles, sweets and water guns!

We’re sorry to hear about some of the other points you experienced. We appreciate your feedback regarding lighting around the camping pitches, particularly when walking around after dark. We’ll share this with the relevant team.

We’re also disappointed to hear about your experience in the pot wash area. We expect our facilities to remain available and our teams to be helpful and professional, so your comments will be passed on.

We’re pleased that the train ride was a highlight, and we’ll be sure to share your kind words with the team member who made it so much fun for the children.

We completely understand the disappointment around the inflatable. Although circumstances affecting an activity can sometimes be outside of our control, we appreciate that travelling a long way only to find something unavailable is frustrating, especially when it’s still visible on the lake and the children are wondering why they can’t use it.

Thank you again for the honest feedback. It’s great to hear you enjoyed your stay enough to extend it, and we hope to welcome you all back for another family adventure hopefully with plenty more bubbles, water guns and activities to enjoy!

Lakeside camping pod (pet friendly)

Liked Good facilities plenty for kids to do, pods in a nice peaceful location

Disliked Cleaners need to clean the pods better crumbs and cereal bits on worktop cobwebs down side of fridge. Wasted space under worktop could do with a cupboard or drawers for storage .

From the manager: Thank you for sharing your feedback with us!

We’re pleased to hear you enjoyed the good range of facilities, that the kids had plenty to keep them entertained, and that you liked the peaceful location of our pods.

We’re sorry to hear the pod wasn’t quite as clean as it should have been on arrival. Finding crumbs, cereal and cobwebs is certainly not the welcome we want for our guests, so we’ll share this with our housekeeping team.

We also appreciate the suggestion about the unused space under the worktop. Extra cupboards or drawers would certainly come in handy for keeping everything organised, and we’ll pass the idea on to the relevant team.

We hope to welcome you back again soon for another peaceful stay and plenty of family fun.

Lakeside camping pod (pet friendly)

Liked The pod was nice staff was lovely on site shop was reasonably priced

Disliked Pod had no cups in there was nowhere to put anything there was a big space under work top could do with putting a cupboard under there in bathroom there was nowhere to put your towels or your toiletries there was no mirror sofa was uncomfortable to sit on the microwave was dirty i had to clean it before I could use it bed linen was torn in 2 places could do with putting a bigger bin in there as them basket bins are to small had a the neighbour putting there fishing rods on side of our pod making a banging noise so then the dog would bark

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We’re pleased to hear you enjoyed the pod, found our team lovely and thought the on-site shop was reasonably priced.

Our Lakeside Cabins are designed as a step up from family camping, so they are intentionally basic, but they do provide those extra home comforts including a shower, toilet, sink, bed and kitchen facilities such as a microwave, kettle and toaster, along with crockery, cutlery and other essentials.

That said, we’re sorry that some of the facilities and cleanliness fell short during your stay. The microwave should certainly have been clean and ready to use, and torn bed linen is not the standard we expect, so we’ll be passing these points on to the relevant teams. We’ll also take your suggestions regarding additional storage, mirrors and larger bins on board, as we appreciate how useful these would be.

We’re sorry too about the noise from the neighbouring pod and the impact this had on your dog. We appreciate that this would have been frustrating, particularly when trying to enjoy a peaceful stay.

Thank you again for the detailed feedback. It genuinely helps us identify where we can make improvements while continuing to offer simple, comfortable accommodation at a great location.

It’s in our nature!

Will definitely come back but we will try a different accommodation.

From the manager: Thanks so much for your lovely feedback! We’re really pleased to hear you enjoyed the great range of activities on offer for the children.

We’re sorry to hear you found swimming availability limited, especially for a group of seven. Our swimming sessions can be very popular, and we appreciate how frustrating it can be when you’re unable to book everyone into the same session. Liked Clean facilities, everything easily accessible, close to touring site. Train was fun and lady running it was amazing and so friendly

Disliked Hair dryers in toilets weren't working. Evening entertainment is outside so not great with a 1 year old when its cold. Swimming pool was cold.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely feedback! We’re really pleased you enjoyed the clean facilities, convenient location and the train ride we’ll be sure to pass your kind comments on to the team, especially the lady who made your journey extra special!

We’ve also taken on board your comments about the hair dryers, pool temperature and outdoor evening entertainment. We appreciate that outdoor entertainment isn’t always ideal with little ones, especially when the weather is chilly.

Disliked All what everyone else is saying
Not a friendly place at all , doesnt have a nice feeling .Not one person talked to us or said hello .Just came back from a Devon camp and was total opposite.Work vans everywhere and overspiling on other peoples pitches.Rubbish in the lakes.Toilets and showers wasn't cleaned whilst we was there.Swimming pool near impossible to book but only had around 25 people in it .We booked 3 days tp stay as it advertised swimming pool but only got 1 hour in it . Pool was FREEZING cold anyway with most people complaining.
Ordered food and it came cold and other dish had no meat in it when it was ment to so that got sent back .
No welcome pack left for us on arrival.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. It’s disappointing to hear that you left Billing Aquadrome feeling this way, particularly as we want our guests to feel welcomed and enjoy their time with us.

I appreciate you sharing your experience with us. I understand that seeing work vehicles around the park and having them overspill onto pitches can be frustrating, particularly when you are trying to enjoy your holiday. Vehicles are permitted on the park, including those used by our maintenance and service teams, but they should always be used and parked considerately and should not obstruct or encroach on guests’ pitches. We are also looking at how we can improve signage and communication around vehicle access to make things clearer for everyone.

Your comments about the litter, toilet and shower facilities and the cleanliness of the lakes have also been noted. Our teams work throughout the day to maintain the park and facilities, but we recognise that there are areas where we need to do better.

We have continued to invest in Billing Aquadrome, including improvements to accommodation, facilities, signage, landscaping and guest areas, alongside ongoing maintenance and refurbishment. We have also introduced new developments and facilities across the park and are continuing to look at further improvements.

Regarding swimming, sessions do need to be booked in advance and availability can become limited during busy periods. I appreciate that only being able to secure one session during a three-day stay, particularly when swimming was something you were looking forward to, would have been disappointing. We have also noted your comments regarding the pool temperature and will share these with the relevant team.

I’m also concerned to hear about your experience with the food. We expect food to be served correctly and at the appropriate temperature, and your comments will be shared with the team so this can be reviewed.

Our welcome information is provided through our pre-arrival communications and Touch Stay guide, which provides information about the park, facilities, activities and what to expect during your stay. I have also noted your comments regarding the welcome pack and will ensure these are shared with the relevant team.

Our message at Meadow Bay is “It’s in our nature”, and for us that means continuing to listen, invest and improve. We know there is still work to do at Billing Aquadrome, and we will continue to push to do better.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience with us.

From the manager: Thank you for sharing your feedback! We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the variety of things to do during your stay.

We’re sorry to hear that you noticed rubbish around the park. Our teams work hard throughout the day to keep the park clean and tidy, and we do have bins provided around the park for guests to use. We’d really appreciate it if all our guests could help us by using the bins provided and taking pride in the park during their stay.

We’ll share your feedback with the relevant team as we continue to keep on top of cleanliness across the park.

It’s in our nature to keep our park welcoming and enjoyable for everyone, and we hope to see you again for a cleaner and even more enjoyable visit.

Liked it had lots on offer, the campsite was big, we were close to the toilets, i liked that there was a shop for essentials we may have forgetten and everyone seemed friendly, swimming was free

Disliked all the entertainment was very busy, we did not eat in the venue because there was always a very long queue, the majority of the activities were paid and the swimming pool was small and cold

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback! It’s great to hear you enjoyed the size of the park, the friendly atmosphere, being close to the facilities and having the shop there for those holiday essentials we all occasionally forget!

We understand that things can get very busy during peak periods, particularly with entertainment and dining. We also appreciate your comments around the activities and pool. We believe our activities offer great value for money, and we do have a number of activities, including swimming, which are free. We always recommend booking activities around two weeks in advance to give you the best chance of securing the sessions you want.

Thank you again for your feedback. It really helps us to continue improving the guest experience. We hope to welcome you back again. It’s in our nature to listen, learn and do better!
