Niets…
Shelduck (area 3) FHU gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite
Liked Niets
Disliked We hadden deze camping uitgezocht op de vele faciliteiten, echter hebben we van niets gebruik gemaakt. Alles was zo vies! Hele vieze douches en toiletten, waterpark was vies, afvalcontainers waren overvol etc. Ook de sfeer op de camping voelde niet fijn en we werden door het personeel ook niet vriendelijk ontvangen. Geen aanrader!

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. It’s great to hear that you enjoyed the range of activities, friendly staff, level pitches and the space available on your pitch.
It sounds like the younger members of the family had plenty to keep them entertained always a bonus!
We appreciate your comments regarding some of the facilities feeling dated. We have already invested millions back into the park, but we know we’re not finished yet. There is still more to do, and we’ll continue to roll up our sleeves, dig deep and keep working to improve the park for our guests.
Thank you again for visiting us, and we hope to welcome you back to see the changes for yourself.

The entertainment for kids was on…
Shelduck (area 2) powered grass travel trailer campsite
Liked The entertainment for kids was on all day and there was plenty for them to do.
Disliked I appreciate that the pool needs to operate on a booking system to prevent it from becoming overcrowded. However, the current system doesn't seem to work particularly well.
When I booked our slots, I was told that we had booked the last few available spaces. However, when we actually went into the pool, it was quite empty. This suggests that people are booking slots and then not turning up, which prevents other guests from using the facilities. There were also people staying on the pitch next to us who had children with them but didn't really understand how to use the booking system, and ultimately they didn't get to use the pool. I think a much better system would be to issue coloured wristbands on a first-come, first-served basis, with guests leaving when their allocated colour/time is called. This would make the system much easier for families to understand and would prevent valuable spaces being taken up by people who don't turn up.
I was particularly disappointed with the cleanliness of the toilet and shower facilities. The site information stated that there were cleaners on duty 24/7, but during our week I used three different toilet and shower blocks, and unfortunately they were consistently in a poor state. I found that I needed to take antibacterial wipes with me so that I could clean areas myself before using them. I raised concerns about the cleanliness with several different members of staff around the site, particularly regarding the cleaners, but unfortunately I didn't see any noticeable improvement throughout our stay.
The showers were extremely basic. Some cubicles had a small shelf/container on the wall, but these were full of old razors and other debris that had clearly built up over a period of time. This was particularly concerning as I had a child with me, and there were rusty razors left in an area that children could potentially access.
There was also very limited space to put belongings. In many of the cubicles there was simply a hook on the door, with no bench or other suitable storage. Because the cubicles were so small, even hanging a towel on the door often resulted in it becoming soaked.
I did find some shower blocks with more space, but unfortunately the water was consistently cold. Every time I used them, I struggled to get the shower hot, and I also heard multiple other guests complaining about the same issue during our stay.
Another significant issue was the condition of the ground. The pitches were extremely uneven, with large boulders, substantial cracks and generally very rough ground.
This didn't appear to be simply a result of a period of dry weather; it seemed to be an ongoing issue with the fields not being properly levelled or rolled.
Our awning was particularly difficult to put up because of how uneven the pitch was. For a campsite, I would expect the pitches to be reasonably level and maintained to a standard that allows guests to set up their equipment properly.
I was also unhappy with the way pitch allocation was handled on arrival. I had booked a specific pitch but was simply told that if someone was already occupying it, I should find somewhere else.
During the week, I was questioned a couple of times about whether I was on somebody else's pitch, despite the fact that someone else had actually been occupying the pitch I had booked.
Thankfully, this didn't result in an argument or major problem, but I can see how easily it could have caused issues between guests.
If a guest has booked a particular pitch, they should be allocated and directed to that pitch. There should be a clear system in place to ensure that pitches aren't double-occupied or that guests aren't left having to resolve someone else's booking mistake.

Liked Glad you’ve brought camping back but there are some improvements that could be made the field could be a lot leveller also the wooden fencing around each pitch could do with some kind of lighting on as it’s very dark on the fields
Disliked A lot of things where not working

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re really pleased to hear that you’re glad to see family camping back at the park we listened to our holiday guests, and it’s great to know this is something you wanted to see return!
We appreciate your suggestions about levelling the field and adding lighting around the wooden fencing. We can understand that the fields can become very dark in the evenings, so this is useful feedback for us to consider as we continue to improve the camping experience.
We’re also sorry to hear that a number of things were not working during your stay. We know there is always more to do, and feedback like yours helps us understand where we need to focus our efforts.
We’re pleased you enjoyed having camping back, and we’ll keep rolling up our sleeves and working on the rest it’s in our nature!
Could not fault this camp site
Shelduck (area 5) powered grass travel trailer campsite
Liked I don’t know what the bad reviews are about this site was brilliant it was busy but that is because it is big and it’s the summer holidays it wasn’t crowded and the site was quiet in the night as for the roads being busy they were not just kids on bikes and scooters which is good to see! The showers and toilets where absolutely fine it is camping not the ritz I don’t know why people moan about silly things, there was all kinds to do swimming boating activities alpacas circus all stuff for little kids and entertainment on in the evening the food in the restaurant was lovely and it was cheap nothing in the site was over priced I will be back again I drove 3 hours from Liverpool and honestly could not fault the place staff very helpful
Disliked The only thing I disliked was the fact that you could not pay cash because I don’t believe this is acceptable

From the manager: Thank you for such a brilliant review! We absolutely loved reading this.
It’s in our nature to keep the whole family entertained, so it’s great to hear you made the most of everything on offer from swimming and boating to alpacas, circus fun and the evening entertainment. It sounds like you certainly kept busy!
We also love your comment about it being camping and “not the Ritz” we might have to put that on a sign! We’re pleased the facilities were perfectly fine for you and that you found the park lively during the day but peaceful at night.
A three-hour drive from Liverpool is no small journey, so knowing you felt it was worth the trip really means a lot to the team. We’ll also pass your kind comments on to the staff they’ll be pleased to hear they helped make your stay enjoyable.
We’ve noted your feedback regarding cash payments. We understand that not everyone wants to pay by card, and we appreciate you taking the time to raise it.
Thank you again for choosing to stay with us. We’ll look forward to welcoming you back for round two hopefully with another three-hour adventure from Liverpool!
P.S we are loving the pictures!

Disliked Swimming always fully booked. Toilets really bad. Electric bikes flying round with no consideration for the public. Lots of activities for kids but the price for the water slide thing they put on was a rip off looked like they weee sliding in ditch water!!

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re pleased you enjoyed our Pump Track, which was designed with Silverstone in mind and has proved very popular with our holiday guests.
I’m sorry to hear about the issues with swimming availability and the toilets. Activities, including swimming, can be booked up to two weeks in advance, and we recommend booking as soon as your booking window opens as sessions can become very popular.
We have also noticed an increase in e-bikes on the park. We have clear park rules in place, and we expect all holiday guests to follow them. Where these rules are broken or unsafe behaviour is seen, our teams will challenge this.
Our park teams also follow strict health and safety guidelines across our activities and facilities to help keep our holiday guests safe.
We’re also sorry the water slide activity didn’t meet your expectations. We appreciate your honest feedback and will share your comments with the relevant teams.
It’s in our nature to listen, learn and keep improving.
