Beaches, oysters and old old stones – Carnac rocks. Stonehenge fans, tell the kids y’all are rocking out at a Carnac campsite for this year’s vacances, to see the three thousand ancient monuments of the very famous Carnac stones in magnif Morbihan, the biggest prehistoric site in the world and one of the most visited attractions in Brittany. Unless you have a heart of stone, you’ll let the kids rock out on the sands after visits to the Carnac stones, Maison des Mégalithes and the Musée de Préhistoire… The seaside resort of Carnac-Plage and its five beaches are another (five) reasons folk come camping in Carnac: Grande Plage is the longest and prob the most popular with families; Légenèse and Ty Bihan are quieter, and Saint-Colomban is a breeze for windsurfers.
Just to the east, topping La Trinité-sur-Mer is a tourist hotspot for its thalassotherapy, sailing and seafood/shellfish restaurants dishing up clams, crabs and Carnac oysters – for more of the pearly gems, go a-tasting in the oyster fishing village of Anse de Pô.
