General

  • On the shores of a lake five kilometres from La Trinité sur Mer
  • Heated pool, paddling pool and solarium
  • Bouncy castle, kayak hire/lessons and high season snack bar

A lake – but of course.

The swish Brittany and Morbihan site of Le Lac is right on the shores of a splendid saltwater lake, in a conservation area and peaceful setting under 10 minutes' drive from Carnac. Kayak hire, kayak lessons and sailing (under expert instruction) all are available on this spacious and scenic surface – and if you need yet more Brittany waters, the south Breton coast at La Trinité-sur-Mer is a short drive away too.

On site, a fab heated pool (see pics) and paddling pool for tiddlers overlook the lake; both are set close to the bouncy castle to keep the kids nicely overexcited both in and out of the water. (Frazzled parents, fear not, as you'll be able to keep an eye on your elevating offspring from the deckchairs around the pool area.)

You could also send the smalls off to the busy kids' club in July and August, take them along to the heated indoor play area, or keep a beady eye on their site cycling proceedings from your practised lounging position at the summer evening snack bar. There's fishing from the site as well, and free wifi at reception for those to seek to surf.

Excellent site for the money 20/08/2017

Superb set-up and able to access our pitch at 12 noon having arrived at 11.30a.m.
Pool- small but adequate and plenty of loungers - amenity block and reception/ bar/ small shop ALL within a stones throw of the pitch and on site prices very reasonable. Facilities very clean. Large virtually flat pitch with electric and drinking water. Fantastic views of a tidal lake. 2 staff spoke fluent English. Very close - within 2 miles of local sea side towns Trinite-Sur-Mer and Carnac - both picturesque with plenty of bars, restaurants and supermarkets. Approx 1 dozen Brit families on site at time of our stay. If ever in the area again over the coming years I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

    Disliked:

Pool only open from 10.00 a.m. which is only a personal gripe and bar and shop close at 9.30 p.m. Wi- Fi a little difficult to connect to But the point of a holiday I suppose is to leave all that behind.

Lovely site. Good spacious pitches. Lovely pool. We had a relaxing holiday. Quiet and away from the road.... Nice listening to the Owls at night. Very picturesque out look. Will definitely book again.
    Toilets very clean.
Washing up facilities excellent, hot water plentiful.

    Disliked:

Showers were disappointing in the main larger block, two showers out of order and he others very very poor flow. But this didnot spoil our stay. Plenty of toilets. Smaller block by the pool better. Perhaps the main block could be sorted.

Friendly helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely area which the campsite was situated and nice and quiet. Shower blocks were nice and clean and well thought out you don't get your clothes wet when taking a shower. Loads of lovely little towns within a shirt drive well worth a visit like Vannes and Auray.

    Disliked:

The only thing that I can half complain about was the toilet blocks they were a bit dated And could do with a really good clean of spiders on the ceilings. Don't let this put you off though as really nice place.

Local attractions

Carnac and La Trinité sur Mer are the main two draws around here, after all your days around Le Lac's waters and grounds. As the kids will likely insist, make for the coast first, for spectacular Brittany beaches including the sheltered sands of Kervillen at Trinité sur Mer; boat trips from town around the Gulf of Morbihan, and pottering around La Trinité's harbour on a thorough investigation of the local seafood.

Nearby Carnac is world famed for its prehistoric stones – all 3,000 making up the biggest collection of such rocks on the planet. The Maison des Mégalithe at the site tells the stony tale of Carnac via a film in English or French; guided tours around the stones are available in English in July and August. About 10 minutes' walk from here, delve into the story still deeper with the assistance of the 6,000 exhibits of Carnac's museum of prehistory.

Around the modern Carnac-Plage part of town, check out the yacht club, thalassotherapy centre, five sandy beaches and the famed Saint-Georges and Chez Marie crêperies, or potter back to Trinité sur Mer along the scenic coastal path.
