Parke Farm Camping: Main house

General

  • Peaceful site in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
  • A 10-minute drive from Pembroke; 25 minutes from Tenby
  • Firepits and barbecues allowed; dogs and families welcome

'Easy to get to but difficult to leave' is how the folk who own Parke Farm Camping describe the place – have a quick look at a map and the site pics and you'll see exactly where they're coming from. Sandy beaches for swimmers, surfers and coast path ramblers are within a few miles of this pretty Pembrokeshire site – which, by the way, is located within the gorgeous surrounds of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

For town times, historic Pembroke – where there's a railway station, supermarket, pubs and other amenities – is 10 minutes away by car. Those keen on surveying the local seascapes will probably be pleased to know that most of the 186 miles of Pembrokeshire’s coast path are within a similarly accessible distance.

Life on site is all quite laidback – families and dogs are welcome (although there's an adults-only area that you can request if you'd prefer a bit of quiet time with your beloved), and there's no problem lighting up firepits and barbecues.

Various amenities are on hand to help life run smoothly, including free wifi, a washing-up area, showers and toilets, and there's plenty of space around the place to relax and take in the fresh air.

Please note

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, customers can amend their dates with the campsite/holiday park free of charge for all stays up to, and including, 28/05/2021.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.

Single-sex bookings of 2 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Absolutely lovely campsite run by a welcoming family. Our little camper actually broke down on the campsite and the owners and grounds man were so helpful and supportive in accommodating is for more nights whilst we got fixed. The owner doesn’t over book his fields so each pitch has plenty of space. Great if your travelling with children. They have so much space to run free in the Safeway, well-kept fields. Facilities are very modern and clean. Showers are lovely and hot. The owner and his wife offer tea and coffee facilities every morning and come round with marshmallows every night for your fire pit or bbq. Such a lovely touch. Will definitely be back! Hopefully with a working alternator haha!

    Disliked:

Not a dislike - but you do need transport to get to any facilities like shops, beaches, pub etc.
Also not a dislike - but there is very little to no phone signal here. There is WiFi you can pay for. But it’s nice to be out of touch for a few days!

Super Friendly and helpful hosts, complementary morning coffees and teas by shower block. Marshmellow delivery in evening for firepit. Charming, newly built and clean facilities, but not overdevelopped. Old dairy/reception charmingly restored with small shop. Nice location close to many fabulous places to visit. Great for family camping!

    Disliked:

Nearby millitary range was active on two days, so may not be for very sensitive people, but not a problem for us!
Only real downside was having to go home at end of the holiday..!

Local attractions

Tenby (25 minutes' drive), a firm favourite for beachgoing folk, is within easy reach, but quieter, lesser-known sands like Broadhaven South beach (10 minutes) should also be on the itinerary – at this latter spot there's ample opportunity for swimming and sunbathing, or for more active times like canoeing and angling.

If you can pull yourself away from the coast for a couple of hours, the rewards are rich indeed. Head for freshwater frolics at Bosherston lily ponds (five minutes' drive), a spectacular National Trust-managed stretch of land with dunes, footpaths and pools where otters dwell. While you're likely to see a lot of wildlife while strolling around, spotting more exotic critters might require a trip to Manor House Wildlife Park (20 minutes).

Also inland is Lamphey Bishop's Palace (15 minutes), a ruined ecclesiastical mansion where prelates of yore lived in sumptuous surrounds. And as you'll gather while driving around, historic buildings aren't in short supply around here. Also top of the list are Pembroke Castle (10 minutes), where you can admire tall turrets while cruising by in a rowing boat, and Manorbier Castle (25 minutes), a Norman landmark notable for its gardens, dovecote and watermill.

Must see

  • Pembroke Castle (3.6 miles)
  • Pembrokeshire Coast National Park (4.6 miles)
  • St Davids Cathedral (21.2 miles)

National Trust

  • Stackpole Estate (2.0 miles)
  • Tudor Merchant's House (11.9 miles)
